anyway a great effort by paintsville congrats on a fine season
Like Guru said, he zipped it through traffic to the right side of Grimm and he just didn't catch it, actually touched his hands and went out of bounds. The 5 second call had everyone saying "What the world?". Bundy had his man beat, the guy was at least 3-4 steps behind him, on his way up to the goal they make that call. First time I've ever seen anyone call it like that, you normally see it when someone is playing face up D, not behind them with a wide open lane.
I'm with you Guru that they didn't give up any dunks no matter how they stopped them..lol Saw them posterize Bardstown several times the other night. Very athletic team and are very deserving of their 33-2 record. Holmes is 5 points away from being undefeated on the year. Heck of a year fellas, can't say it enough. Everyone is proud of you.

Congrats Holmes....and congrats to paintsville on a great year...a all A title and a region title in the same year is something to be proud of and farewell to one of the greatest coaches in kentucky high school basketball history BMR....

That's surprising since Lex Cath beat Pville by 18 earlier in the season... Nice season Tigers, you just ran into a better team in Holmes...

Did Slone play this game like he did against JTown?
03-22-2008, 12:48 PM
No Slone had a lot of D pressure on him, but honestly he had open looks! He just wasn't hitting like the night before! Maybe he shot too good against J-town! You just can't shoot 65% every night. But the Tigers just didn't make the easy shots they were given and couldn't get their FT's to fall! They should have won, but that was the difference in the game. The 3 unusual calls by the refs didn't help as they came at crucial times for the Tigers! But it is all over and done with and the Tigers have nothing to be ashamed of!
Paintsville hung with Holmes on a bad shooting night, didn't allow any dunks, was not bothered by the Holmes press, and were only 3-4 bad plays from the semis, and considering how Catholic is playing against Holmes right now, the Tigers could have made it to the finals with a little luck! But it is hard for a team like the Tigers with 6 players to have to go through J-town, Holmes, Catholic and Mason Co. in 4 days to win a Championship.
Good job Tigers!

Congrats on a great season boys. Nothin really to say about the game that hasn't been said already. **** of a run, just came up a lil short.
I'm with ya IRISH, I had tears in my eyes too when coach Runyon got down and kissed the floor.
Gonna miss ya coach, we love ya.

The kid they had guarding him #25, I've heard that he was considered one of the top defensive players in the state. He guarded the kid from South Laurel a few years back (may have been Proffit) and held him to 7 points. Landon just wasn't hitting the open shots, and the contested shots were tough. I thought the Tigers played a heck of a tournament, and really changed some people's views on Eastern Kentucky basketball. Murray played with a ton of heart all tournament too. Everyone contributed, and helped lead this bunch of players to success all year. Congrats to Holmes, and thank you to Coach Runyon on an outstanding career, and thanks to this great senior class. You both will missed very much.

Congrats Tigers on a great season.
So did no one else think that refs were
just terrible in the 4th quarter?

Yeah Arrez Henderson is the #25 from Holmes. He is a great talent, exciting player to watch. He will do good things wherever he goes to College.

I also read last night where Henderson said that Landon was the best player that he has guarded since Preston Knowles when he was at Clark County. The Holmes coach also had nothing but good things to say about Coach Runyon, and his team. And I'd go as far to say that this Holmes team, may have been the most athletic High School team that I have ever seen. Every single one of their players during warm-ups could dunk it, and they were all quick. Heck, the center #44 for Holmes came out and was staying with Paintsville's guards when they were switching on screens. Just an all out great team any way you look at it.

Well I wasn't on the floor, but I sure didn't like the 5 second call on Blake or the intentional foul and technical call. But the guys were getting tired and maybe there was more to it. Anyway, the refs let the Tigers play loose most of the tourney which is the best way to let them play and the refs overall weren't near as bad as our 15th refs. lol
Anyway, the Tigers showed that they can at least play with any team in the state and make it competitive. But I don't think they would have had the legs left to make it through Saturday even if they had of beat Holmes.
Great run, great tourney, great representation of the 15th Region against a very tough draw! Thanks to all of the seniors and Coach Runyon on a fun year that we will never forget!! And an extra thanks to BMR for the devotion and dedication that you've given the program for the past 26 years as head coach!! It will take a heck of a coach to match the accomplishments of BMR!!

I wish they would start the tourney on tuesday so the semi's could be played on friday and the finals on saturday instead of two teams havin to play twice on saturday.

That's hilarious of them to think that, as much money as this tourney brings in. They prolly sell over 20,000 tickets each day, maybe even more, alot more. Not to mention how much is made at concession's, merchandise etc. Cost too much, give me a break KHSAA.

For real Redneck. I remember just 2 years ago, Lower Arena tickets were $12.00 and uppers were $7.00. This year they are $14 and $11. Tuesday shouldn't be a problem starting this tourney. Had Holmes had a days rest they may have been able to pull that one out last night against Mason.

Lower arena endzone seats were only $8.

Last time I checked, the endzone seats in the lower arena were school tickets, lol. I was just pointin out to DALE that the endzone seats were a lil cheaper then the other lower arena seats, he left that part out.
03-23-2008, 11:48 PM
So a bag of Popcorn and a Pop cost more than the tickets? lol
03-23-2008, 11:48 PM
I prefer to stay out of all the ruckus down in the school's section. Myself, I am an upper arena fan in one of the corners like I have been doing the past 13 years I've been going. You can see everything just fine and never have to stand or risk the chance of getting a crick in your neck from watching people run up and down the court.
