Paintsville represented the Mountains very well and should be proud of a tremendous season. Best of luck to the Seniors on the team in whatever they pursue in the future.

Just got in from the game. Paintsville led by 3 at the half and by 1 at the end of the third. Every time Holmes made a run, Paintsville countered until about the last 4 minutes of the game. Legs or no legs, Paintsville fought and scrapped in the game that no one really gave them a chance except the Blue faithful. Paintsville as a team played well, missed maybe 9-10 FT's. Also had 3 intentional fouls, two of them were when they tried to block a dunk attempt and were going after the ball. The only one that looked legit was when Murray pulled down Arrez as he was attempting a dunk. Also the technical was questionable because Murray just rolled his eyes, but at that moment in the game things were getting out of hand and was probably something to get both teams to cool down. Paintsville had a chance but their shots just weren't falling and they had pretty good open looks. Can't win them all but I'm proud of the boys representing the mountains well. Holmes is a very good team with a great defense and Paintsville proved they were the same. Congrats on a great season to the six seniors, congrats to BMR on a fine career, and congrats to Landon who was named to the All-Tourney team at the end of the game. Nothing to be ashamed of guys.

To rosebud, Blake had a couple of points and NO TURNOVERS against the best defensive team in the state.

Great season Paintsville you definetly made people think about the mountains of Ky a little different this weekend as did Hazard as well. I am very proud of what you accomplished, and BMR has done everything possible as a high school head coach. I look forward to seeing what he choses to conquer next. Thanks for the memories.

I don't know about anyone else, but readin through all of these posts made me wish Frank Sinatra's "I did it my way" was playing in the background as you read. Is it just me? IDK

i seen him throw it away once and got a 5 second call on him
anyway a great effort by paintsville congrats on a fine season

I am so very proud of this bunch!!! You guys did great and have shown everyone that you were just as good as advertised! I even had people from Holmes come up to me today and tell me that you were the scrappiest bunch they have seen all year. One guy told me that he didn't know if Holmes could beat Lex Cath or not, but honestly thought that Paintsville could have!

The one that he threw away zipped by a wide open teamate by about a foot. Not really his fault.

Big Congrats To the Tigers on a great season! Went toe to toe with a Top 5 team in the state and with all honesty, should have won the game. And to BMR, Thank You for being the face of coaching in the sport of basketball for all of Eastern Kentucky! Hope to see you at Arkansas next year! Congrats to Holmes as well on the win!

Congrats to Paintsville on a greats Season, and to all the Seniors! Congrats BMR for all the time an effort you have put into this school system!

Paintsville just had a bad shooting night from the FT line, and FG. Holmes played really good D, as well as Paintsville those 3 intentional fouls witch 2 year not at all really hurt the tigers. All the missed FT's by Holmes and all the made FT's by Paintsville it what decided this game.

CONGRATS PAINTSVILLE ON A GREAT RUN, THANKS FOR ALL THE MEMORIES BMR AND SENIORS!!:Cheerlead

Paintsville represented the mountains well. Had the game in reach today. However I feel the intentional fouls were unnecessary. I can understand not wanting to get dunked on but things were about to get out of hand. The technical did cool things down.

Was hoping to see BMR coaching on Saturday morning.

Hated to see this great and exciting run come to an end. I've known Landon and Jeremy since we have been young kids and known J.D., Blake, and Grimm since they were in the 8th grade. They are all great wonderful kids who worked so hard to get to where they where today. Everyone of them showed so much heart, determination, and the will to win it was an amazing thing to see, not only today, wednesday night, but the past 4 years. One of the more hallowed Senior Classes of all time and they will never be forgotten. I also hate it for Coach Runyon who had 26 years of success and was one of the best coaches in the state's history and a class act as well. They have nothing to be ashamed of thats for sure. For a small mountain team to make it to the State Tournament is an accomplishment within itself but to get a win when not expected to? That is incredible. I was wanting to see them play on Saturday Morning to, they gave it a heck of a run but came up short. Congrats on 4 fabulous years and to Coach Runyon on 26 fabulous years!

IMO, Paintsville should have won this one, but the guys were getting tired, a little careless, couldn't hit well on their shots (the open looks), the Holmes bench, and then the two intentional fouls? All that was just too much to overcome, but the Tigers still had the lead to start the 4th quarter! Great job Tigers! You can't shoot 65% every night, especially in the State Tourney! Great season! I've never seen such composure and determination out of a team that has never played the first game in Rupp until this year! Thanks for the great season and making everyone know you were there!

Congrats to Holmes on the win! The J-town Offense was much better, but Holmes has the better D by far. The bench is probably Holmes best asset!

Would have liked to see the Tigers playing on Saturday, but they done really well considering their draw!
#29
Congrats boys!! Great season.

Any team faced with the draw of the Tigers would struggle. J-town, Holmes, Lex Cath....I'd say by the time the championship rolled around they'd be dead. Those three teams are probably 3 of the top 5 teams in the state. Free throws hurt them along with some bogus calls like everyone said, but to win the regional tournament as seniors and then to play in Rupp Arena pulling a game out is an experience they'll never forget and no one can take away. Best of luck to all the seniors from Paintsville and to BMR. He's a legend in Paintsville, all of East Kentucky, and one of the most respected men in all of Kentucky H.S. Basketball. Watching the clock strike zero today was the end of an era and one that may be unmatched for years to come. I must admit, when he got on his hands and knees and kissed center court after the game a tear ran down my face. He will truly be missed.
