#11 Kentucky vs. #6 Marquette (1st Round NCAA Tournament)
#1
Alright now that it's set who's going to win. I think whoever does win this game has a great shot at beating a very overrated Stanford team.
#2
How bout the Cats OMG? You have said all year long UK wont be in the NCAA tournament!!! I just hope the Cats win! Go UK!
#3
I honestly can't believe they got in!
Go Cats!
#4
I'm happy with our selection, Marquette has some really good guards in McNeal & James but they don't have a very good post presence which favors our slow pace style of play.
#5
I think UK got the best possible scenario of any team 8 and higher! We play a solid Marquette team and if we win, we will more than likely play a Stanford team who probably wouldn't go .500 in the SEC!

I believe if we were to get by Marquette that Stanford would hurt us with there post play of Lopez. He is a very effective post player for the Cardinal.

Here is some very nice statistics and other information on Marquette...

Well i'm glad atleast one person called me out on it. Haha. I did say all year long they wouldn't get it, but I am very glad they did. If they make a sweet sixteen appearance Billy G. will get Coach of the Year.

I am shocked they got in though I didn't expect it.

UK has a good chance to make a pretty good run to the sweet 16 if they can win this first game.
I think we got a good draw and a good part of the bracket.

Go Cats!

Comparitively great draw for the Cats. They have the ability to make a run to the sweet sixteen for sure.
#11
Uhh, does anyone remember the past few tourney meetings with Marquette? There have been several years when UK should have been in the final four or marching through the tourney that Marquette has knocked them out.... when UK has seemed like superman, Marquette has been Kryptonite.... it really sucks LOL
#12
This team doesn't have D. Wade either, lol.
#13
UK by 4
#14
What time will this game be played?
#15
im gonna take UK by 6
#16
Pretty good matchup for UK. Marquette is a gaurd oriented team that UKs defense could give fits. Depth is still an issue and I think it will favor Marquette. I don't see UK winning it but I hope I'm wrong.

If the Cats do get by Marquette, Stanford is a matchup nightmare with their size.
#17
Time for em all to step it up and play some ball.

Cats by 4 in OT

Considering UKs situation, I believe they got a good draw. Marquette has some good guards, especially in James, but with the tough man-to-man defense our guards have shown they can play, I think we can handle the Golden Eagles. Perry and Ramon will have to play BIG however if we are to win. On the other hand, if we were to win against Marquette, I don't see any way we get pass Stanford (assuming they win as well). Both Lopez twins are 7'+ and I just don't see us competing with them, regardless of the pace we make them play. I hope they prove me wrong, and I will sure as heck be rooting for them to win it all (like always)!!!!!! GO CATS!!!!!

I disagree about Stanford. They are big, but they are also slow. If Kentucky can get out and run a little bit we got a shot against them.

Looks like a half day on Thursday.

Kentucky will win this game......62 to 57...
#24
I think this time we'll get Marquette. I think this team, when on, has the ability to do some great things. Cats by 8.
#25
Cats in a close one
#26
I have the Cats winnig this game and possible winning their next game as well...
#27
Gotta go with the Cats in this one!! Lets go Cats!!
#28
Well, IMO, Gillispie STILL should be coach of the year. If you would have told me after starting 7-9, getting WHIPPED at home by Gardner Webb and San Diego, beating Stony Brook by 10 (although it was closer than that), that we'd be 18-12, and in the NCAA tournament, I'd ask you to give me some of what your smokin..but I believe Marquette is the superior team, and plays very solid defense and team ball. Any of their starters could hit 20 or more on any given night. They dont turn the ball over very much and dont make many mistakes. I'm gonna have to go with Marquette in this one, 64-58..Hope Im wrong though..

I agree, I believe kentucky has a great shot at meeting texas and maybe some magic will allow us to get by them. But stanford is way overated and if kentucky does get by marquette then I think they got a great shot at beating stanford. I think is amazing that we got as good as a draw that we did.....go cats!!!

Sorry to say this, but Stanford would have the SEC for lunch. I have seen Stanford at least 12 times and Tennessee is the only SEC team that could give them a good game or beat them on a consistant basis.

As far as UK, they have to beat a tough Marquette first. UK will have to have Stephenson show up and play great during the NCAA's.
