Here is an accurate article from Matt Jones on KentuckySportsRadio:

He might walk on there, but he will hardly get to play for them.

Lets keep this on topic. Absolutely NO bashing of Stepp will be accepted. This is a great accomplishment for ANY player in this area. Negative comments will be deleted and depending upon severity...... infractions will be issued! This is your warning!!!

Congrats Mr. Stepp....

I think it's great for any "mountain" kid to get to play for UK. Good going.
#7
Congrats to Clark. I would love to see Landon right there with him at 2 guard. I feel both, or the either of them are just as good as some of the guys on UK's current bench, including Porter who gets plenty of PT.
#8
I would love to see Stepp play for UK, I would love to see any local kid get a chance to play at the next level and espeically at UK!...Good Luck Clark!
#9
Hope it happens....
#10
I dont know about this now, I had heard about UT looking at him but not UK. More power to him, Congrats I hope he takes Porters spot.
#11
well if clark works hard he could sure play. If u think its impossible then you are wrong. Look at mark coury hes a walk on and starts but doesnt play more than 3 to 4 minutes a game.
#12
You have to remember think, walking on to a college basketball team is a lot different than walking on in other sports because there is a better chance of playing as a walk on due to a smaller roster than most sports. Just how interested have they been in Stepp?

I would rather have anyone than Mark Coury. Id take Stepp any day over Coury or Porter.
#14
Congratulations if true.
#15
Well if its true CONGRATS!! I don't know that I would waste a scholarship on him, BUT the Wildcats need more KENTUCKY natives on the roster! Wouldn't mind seeing Landon there too! And as for PT, that has to be earned anyway! Just having Kentucky boys on the team though is a morale booster!! It puts the heart back into the team!

Please take them seriously about saying things about players and getting infractions, especially if those players are from this area.

 He wasn't making fun of Stepp, he was saying that he thought Clark was better than a couple of current UK players.

Would be more than happy to see a boy from the mountains on the team, even if it means sitting the bench for a year or so. Good luck Stepp!!!
#19
I just read the article on the second link listed and it really didn't seem like what you would call a reliable source.Smile
#20
Congrats! I think he should definetly go there and NOT stay in pippa passes! I would rather sit the bench for Kentucky than play everyday at a school that most high schools can beat anyday. Great accomplishment and you will be a legend for even doing so. Look at Tackett from Paintsville. He's a God there because he just went, and by no means was a star at UK. He got a little bit of playing time, but the people of Paintsville put him on a pedastal after he decided to go there. You think they would have done the same if he would have went to Clemson?

i got a ? for everyone. Do any of you think that mark coury and clark stepp kinda resemble each other. i mean they really dont but they have the same hair.

Yes they do, and they play a like as well.Smile

Survivor Wrote:Yeah, look at Kentucky's record...That's why, people like Mark Coury. Stepp should stay in Pippa Passes where he could actually get some playing time. This is all a big publicity stent anyways. It's a funny thing to me that not any of the top NAIA teams want him but UK does. BALONEY

I am sure any NAIA school would welcome him with open arms. I just think he has pretty much said he wants to play D1

Buddy whatever, Out of all those comments you picked mine to talk **** about, OMG anything to start trouble on here. I see alot more negitive post on here than what I post and I didnt say anything.
#25
Tubby missed up by not getting Vanhoose(however you spell his name) and Ben Bowling.
#26
Getting a little off topic but to support my point about former major college athletes from Eastern Kentucky; Whitesburg High School has seen a couple of athletes play at major colleges that I can think of. Larry Maggard started on the offensive line and was an All-Conference player in the early 90's at Morehead State University. And more recently Caleb Brock was a tremendous baseball player at UK and played A ball in the Indians farm system for a while.

Braves fan, dont you leave eastern kentucky or just stay off the site if you are going to bash eky. Stepp, thats awesome. I wish you the best. Anything is possible if you work hard enough.
#29
...Have you ever heard of John Pelphrey, JR vanhoose. Tim Couch, Richie Farmer, and so many more I cant name them all.
#30
I had heard that UK had sent him and his family 7 tickets to watch the UK Florida game....then soon after that he was supposed to sign with Kentucky...i heard this straight from his uncle's mouth last sunday at the sports splex.....
