We're only discussing things! That's what threads are for. If we knew all the outcomes ahead of time, why would we even need this site? Who cares? For all I know Paintsville and Valley could both lose! lol Wouldn't that be funny? But don't count on it though!!!
You can say this all you want but Valley already beat this team by around 30, Paintsville hasn't played Belfry.

Doesn't matter if they've already played once. That actually allows the team to try and make a different game plan for this time around....this is March, anyone can win on any given night...it's one and done time.

Good point, and like they have said so many times, they have basically the same team as last year. just barely squeaking by won't cut it this year.

Also, several of them played on the same AAU team going back to 8th grade. If you can't form some type of chemistry within those 4 years then you shouldn't even be out there at all. They seem to be playing with a purpose this season unlike the last 3.How many trips to Rupp have they made in the last four years?

Well if you want to go look at the past we can? Do you really want to compare the history between these two teams? I dont' think you do.

Well they beat Pikeville by around 30 too and they were knocked out of the All A by them too! So your point is?

For some reason everyone has to bring up the All "A", anybody that knows anything about Shelby Valley basketball knows that that was a completely different team from the normal Shelby Valley. They played slow ball, the ran a 2-3 zone, and anyone that has watched SV knows that they are a fast pace team that plays pressure D the entire game. Booher has realized his mistake from that game, and he won't make it again.

I didn't bring it up just to bring it up! I was responding to PC_You_Know's response. He seems to think that since SV has beaten P-burg by 30 that I assume he meant they wouldn't have any problem with P-burg, but since Paintsville hasn't played Belfry that they might have problems. I guess that is what he meant. But I thought that I would remind everyone that losses in tourneys do occur, even to SV, and even by teams that they have beaten. Take it for whatever it is worth. Same logic applies to all teams!

Like OMG said, if you want to bring up past history we can. This is a new year, this year's Paintsville team is playing with a purpose and passion that no one has seen them play with the past 3 seasons. They are they in the Top 5 in the state in scoring per game averaging right at 83 points a game. That just doesn't happen because everyone is shooting the ball better. They are not playing as selfish as they used to in the past seasons. They are finding the open man to get the better shot and are realizing that it's not just a one person scoring team, anyone one of the kids can go out there and score double figures on any given night if someone is getting shut down to help pick up the slack in offensive production.

Valley wins if they meet up by 6

Comparing numbers for two different teams against the same opponent sounds so good in theory, but each game is a very specific and unique occurence. People get hot, some go cold, some hots miss by a hair, and some shots are deflected by only a fingernail.
I guess the only true way to predict a game like this would be by the personal match-ups, and even that is never the most accurate (hence UK-UT yesterday). When tournament time comes around, the intangibles become the major factors. Teamwork, chemistry, heart, and determination are all things you can not measure or predict in any player/team because these things vary moment by moment. Can't wait to (hopefully) see this game at the expo center...if I can make it down.
and I would like to contest the point that E. Justice is the only shooter on SV. His own brother can shoot the rock about as well, as well as Ashley (when on), the other Newsome, and Bryant when he is on. Elisha is my favorite player though for sure, if he could consistently knock down the open three he'd avg near 26-30 pts a game.

You're right, SV has basically the same key players as last year, just like Paintsville. If we're looking at last year's regional games as an indicator of what will happen in this year's first round, then I guess that means Valley will win by two, and Paintsville will get beat out.
I don't actually believe either of those results will happen, though. Last year is last year, and has NO bearing whatsoever on this year's games. SV and Paintsville should both win their first game by 20+ points, then stage an epic battle in the second round in what will amount to the de facto 15th region championship.

I hope to see this game, but Shelby Valley could win easily. Just look at some of the talent they played in New York, they are to talented IMO.

I ran into Landon at lunch today (Paintsville has open lunch, no caffeteria) and he said they are pumped, can't wait for thursday. I asked him about what he thought about Valley, he said they are a great team but they had to get by Belfry first. They aren't overlookin Belfry in any way, they have their heads on striaght and are ready to try and get coach Runyon another region championship.

I would agree with you Redneck. These two teams are too evenly matched to say that one team or the other could win easily. The losing team would have to completely self-destruct for that to happen.

You need to go back and reread the posts involved because you obviously have no idea what we were talking about. If you did you wouldn't have made the comment you did. Please be informed before you make rediculus comments. He brought up last year with one of the games, and I commented saying they had the same team like SV fans say all the time.

Everyone says this, and it's the doggone truth, what has this group of Paintsville boys won together other than some games and a district title or two?

I read all the posts very clearly, thank you very much. The King had posted a comparison on how SV had played their first round opponent in the regular season on two separate occasions, and how the tournament games played out differently than the regular-season blowout. Then you made the comment that SV had basically the same team as last year. Think that about covers it?
As I posted before, last season, or any other season, has no bearing on this year's games. If you don't realize that, then that's too bad, but it's true.
And consider this a warning to you, or anyone else on here, not to call anyone else's comments "ridiculous", be they mine or any other member's. Disagreements are welcomed here, derogatory comments are not.

Yep, with Pikeville's two main players out of the game, and none out for Paintsville.

I will take Paintsville in a close one. They are very physical and mature....... BlueSky
