I know every team gets a practice time at the Expo to get prepared for the Reg. Tourn.
My question is......After I heard a rumor that Shelby Valley was practicing yesterday at the Expo, befor any other Dist. was finished, Was that the only practice they get, or was it a special favor to them?
If someone could first confirm that SV did practice at the Expo Friday and then, if that was their scheduled regional practice time or was it an extra practice? Please someone clear this up for me.

I think that the practice schedule starts today and ends tomorrow with regional games every night all week.

I am not sure, about them practicing Friday or not, I was just saying that I thought the rotation started today after the draw.

I know someone that works at the Expo Center quite a bit and they have told me that a high school team was in there yesterday afternoon but not sure which one it was.
03-01-2008, 03:53 PM
Well, imagine that.
03-01-2008, 04:09 PM
Well I hate that for everyone else, it's not like it's gonna help any, they've already played there enough, and if the EXPO let them in, who really should have anything to say about it.

Has Shelby Valley played any regular season or tournament games at the Expo this season? If they haven't played there since last years regional tournament then, I think a few more minutes shooting the ball and getting a better feel of the surroundings in a place like the Expo would help some.
Another question, since most thought that Shelby Valley and Paintsville would make it the region which they have. What would have kept them from practicing let's say a month ago, at the Expo? If they could have.

And who is to say they have not?
PC, the thing is, that it would be unfair to all other teams if this was the case.

Guess they should have taken advantage of the EXPO allowing it like Valley did then huh?

You can't take advantage of something when you have a game to play SUCH as the 60th did last night..... IMO if they did then that should have been their scheduled practice time. The other teams in the tourney should be allowed the exact same amount of time! Sorry but I feel that each team has EARNED their way to this tourney and each should be treated fairly and equally!

If they practiced, I have no problem with it.
Anyone can go get practice time at the expo as long as the basketball floor is down.

Nicely said, that's the point I was making.

How about any team practice anytime during the regular season if they wish to?
Once the District touraments starts allow no practice until their scheduled times?

Why didn't you just say it then, were the words to hard to find, lol.
Accordin to one of the players moms, Paintsville was havin a double practice today at the Expo.

Totally agree with the Guru on this issue. If Shelby Valley practiced and was allotted more time than anyone else or, given any other advantage then the advantage should have been given to all of the other schools.
More of an principle thing.

I have heard this as well. This is the type of small town politics that plays into tournaments like this every year. If they did practice last night they should not get anymore time. If they do get time it should be brought up and investigated. This is clearly against the rules and SV's coaches knew it was against the rules. All of you who say that "anyone can practice there as long as the floor is down," you don't get it. That is no where close to the point. The point is they are getting far more time on a court that is supposed to be "neutral," and the rest of the teams should be allowed the same amount of practice time.

This is exactly the kind of thing that people will say about a team they don't like. Just because one person says they saw SV practicing there doesn't mean it is the truth. Until you know that they were FOR SURE practicing there, you shouldn't be spreading the RUMOR, which is exactly what it is.
03-01-2008, 09:54 PM
Good point Comfort Eagle. This may all be a hoax to try and get into the heads of the other teams, and my opinion..... it seems to be working!

Well it's been heard by more than just one person. Also, the person who started this thread is not one to just post something unless he heard from a farely credible source. Nobody's trying to bash any team or anyone, they simply want to know the truth.

Either way, practicing in the Expo isn't going to put a point on the scoreboard next week. Who cares??? LOL
03-01-2008, 10:04 PM
Well, I just then talked to a very credible source about this, and they said SV did have practice yesterday but it was at Shelby Valley.

It gives a bigger advantage than you think. Most high schools gyms have a wall behind their basket which makes for about the same backdrop for every school. Its different at the Expo Center, and the more repetitions a team gets shooting there, the more they are going to be use to the environment.

This stuff is hilarious.
As it has already been said, the Oklahoma Cavalry and the East KY Miners were practicing in the Expo.
Now, look at these pictures below.....they are of the OK Cavs. How easy would it be to see this team in blue and white uniforms and someone to ASSUME that it's Shelby Valley?
Come on now people.

How in the world could somebody confuse the two? Look at that team and then think of the Shelby Valley team. Not Too mention they said they were in there earlier in the day long before these two ever played any game. Im not saying they did or they didn't, however it was brought up, and I think they should get confirmation on it just to make sure.

If someone was to be walking around the Expo...you know outside where the concessions are, and just happened to look in, it would be very easy to confuse the two.
Of course, it should be obvious if someone stopped and watched, but if they were working or doing something else and just happened to look in while walking around it could be very easy to get them confused.
I'm sure that the Miners and Cavalry were practicing before their game.
