Final as of Saturday night. Scary moment for the Lady Hawks-Kayla Lowe was elbowed in the temple and immediantly passed out. She was out for a while but came back to play.

and the coach put her back in the game?? if she was knocked out and was out for awhile , why was she not taken to a hospital to be checked out,not too smart on Butcher's part IMO. hope she is ok

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. If she was unconscious, it wasn't too wise to put her in at all. No game is that important.

A shot to the temple is one dangerous blow. Good to hear that she was alright.

Yes, no game is that important. BUT...Kayla Lowe is one of the toughest young women you will ever see play on a basketball court and competes 24/7. She WANTED to go back into the game. Despite the score, that's what makes the Lady Hawks what they are. They don't back down. They played hard, just couldn't get their shots to fall.

I don't care how tough a player is. That was:

1.Dangerous
2.Irresponsible
3.Just plain STUPID

I don't care what that makes the lady hawks, she wouldn't be making them anything if she did injury to her brain and then got back into the game. That is just plain stupid, not tough. Tough is knowing when to call it quits because you've gave it all you can.

Yeah, it might have been a silly idea. And many think its irresponsible. But Kayla knows what she can handle, she is a GREAT player. I'm proud of her. Although I wish she would have sat down and rested

They said that she was dizzy and light headed and acted weird. 'My Sources' also said that she wanted back in the ball game.

How does she know if she had a concussion or not . Butcher should have sent her to the hospital right then . That was irresponsible out of him . Her parents should have been notified if they wasnt there and if they was they should have taken her right then . If I was the principal me and Coach Butcher would be having a meeting first thing Monday morning so he could explain his actions . I wasnt there and dont know if a doctor was there to check her out thats beside the point she should have been taken to the hospital to be check out . No ballgame is worth risking permanent damage .

It was a nasty blow to watch, I was surprised Lowe wanted to go back into the game. I mean the game was already out of reach but that just shows a love for the game. I hope she is feeling better!!!

maybe kayla shoudn't have went back in,but the game was not out of reach it was a six point game.as roundball gal said we just couldn't make shots.but regargless it was coach and kayla's parents' who were there that had to make the decision about playing her.people do need to know it was a close game till the end and the final score doesn't tell the story.

Was she seen by a doctor? If a player is knocked out, she must be cleared by a doctor before returning to the game. But even if she was, that was a risky move.

Hornet14 is correct, it was a six point game. The Hawks just missed shots down the stretch. Also, Kayla's parents were there an she was allowed to play. Being simply knocked out does not necessarily mean she ha a concussion.
