Pike Central 63 Belfry 62
#1
Pike Central just does not look well right now, but I can tell you exactly what it is. It is not the flu, and it is not that they are getting worse rather then better. The problem is teams have finally found out how to stop them on the offensive end. Its called the ole 2-3 zone zone and pack your guards as far in as you can. Fronting the post and having backside help. Belfry did a great job of this tonight and Pike Central about payed for not shooting the ball well from out side. Which I am thinking is what happened against Phelps. Lucky for Pike Central they out rebounded Belfry big time getting many second chance opportunities. It also really surprised me tonight about the lack of defensive play, nearly every point they gave up was lay ups tonight. However every shot was contested, I was waiting for Butcher to switch up to the 1-3-1 zone which I thought would contain Pruitt and Staten. But, good effort by Belfry now Pike Central must regroup and figure out how to beat that 2-3 zone.

Lowe hit a shot with 7.1 seconds left on the clock, Belfry got the ball to half court and called a time out. They in bounded the ball and Pruitt got trapped in the corner and Belfry never got a shot off. I was really confused why Stiltner had her best offensive threat flash to the corner when Pike Central had been trapping all night. great game and Congrats Lady Hawks now Monday is a must win situation rest this weekend and get rid of that FLU.

I was really impressed with both teams tonight. Belfry stepped up and played a great game, against a really good team. Belfry's Defense looked a whole lot better tonight,Good hustle girls. Also,I don't understand why Pike Central doesn't work the ball in more to A.D. Slone, she is a solid player in the paint and has a good touch outside the paint. I guess we'll see Pike Central at Belfry tuesday night for another close one. Go Belfry!!!

The thing about AD on the post is if you noticed tonight when her and Kayla are in the game she is on the high post on the free throw line. Also Belfry did such a nice job fronting the post with weak side help that it was hard to do anything inside. Every pass almost that Central got inside was forced and Belfry forced alot of turnovers and played great in the transition. The Pruitt girl impressed me tonight with the way she carried her self. And I am assuming your a Belfry fan so I was wondering what was wrong with I think it was 24 b/c she kept putting ice on the back of her neck is she sick?

I'm not sure what was wrong with Howard, she has been out all year and just recently came back, she may have been sick.

i was kinda worried about her in the fourth after a lose ball on Belfry's offensive half she looked like she was going to pass out.

Watch PC all you want and you can hash it out in many different scenarios but it all boils down to this. When Lowe plays the post and the guards get her the ball, Pike Central wins and wins easily. When she roams the 3point line and stays outside they struggle because 1) she is not a CONSISTENT SHOOTING THREAT outside and 2) it allows the defense better rebounding chances with her out. The guards stand alot and watch her and Slone board.

And if you have watched PC much at all you will have noticed that their defensive effort is not always very strong. The defense against Belfry was lifeless and passive.

By the way, that was one of the worst PC/Belfry games in recent memory. Not enjoyable to watch at all.

The district will be closer than what everybody thinks.

I don't really think this is a case of people finding out what PC is doing. I think it is more of that they are in a HUGE slump right now. It seems like the girls from PC are just not having fun anymore. This was a closer game than i expected. Belfry played a good game and PC played just good enough to win(which to them is really bad). So I look for the girls to set down, have a meeting, and find out what is going wrong. I think that the PC girls will regoup and get there act together. If not....well....guess no Bowling Green.

Guys Sraight Up I'm not sucking-up,but 15thRegionSlamaBamma knows basketball,Howard has been out with mono,Pruitt was running a fever and vomiting on sideline, heck even Coach Stiltner and coach Lovell has the flu.But no excuses that was just straight up good basketball on the NEXT LEVEL OF PLAY!!

Way to go Lady Hawks!! Great job on the win!! Really good game by the Pirates. I just hope the Hawks won't get a big head. Tournament time should be exciting.

thanks for the compliment.

Honestly I would have liked to have seen this game played back when Pike Central was actually shooting well. The reason I say this early on in the year Johnson Central and every other team around did exactly what Belfry did with the exception of fronting the post. However, Pike Central shot the ball very well, actually moved off the ball and made things happen unlike last night. Last night the guards stood and waited for AD or Kayla to get open. This is a totally different team compared to the team that played Montgomery Co. I will agree with one thing that was said Pike Central just looked like they did not want to be there, they had no heart or want to win unlike Belfry. These girls need to get their acts together because if not they WILL NOT be playing in the EXPO needless to say DIDDLE. It is up to you girls, you control your destiny you can fold and think well its a fluke we didn't go to state which would be a total lie as of now. Or you can sit down have a team meeting get your crap together and PLAY BALL rather then just going through the motions. Belfry wants it girls, they want it bad, they have wanted it since March 10th at 9:30 pm of last year.

How could you say Pike Central was hitting their best the shot below 30%.
