He resigns effective immediately. His son Pat will take over as head coach.

This was really shocking when I first seen it. Hate to see Knight leave the game of College Basketball he was an icon and a great coach.

Knight stated this morning that he dont got it in him anymore, after 42 years "hes tired". Knight finished with 902 wins, most in Mens D-1 Basketball.

Bobby Knight is someone i would have definetely let any of my unborn children play for and i would have let him head butt any of them if he wanted to!!

I will tell you this, of all of the college coaches I met during my recruitment, he was the one I should have played for. I met him numerous times and he was just like you would expect. Brutally honest, great with "one-liners," and very smart. If Dan Dakich wouldn't have left for Bowling Green, I probably would have ended up as a Hoosier! I am very sad to see him go, and college basketball has lost a great coach!!!

The greatest college basketball coach of all time in my mind.
No NCCA violations and over 80% graduation rate for players.
I model myself after this man,

Remarkable record! Hate to see him go. I wish he would have stayed on a few more seasons to get win 1000! But he is getting old and I guess he is tired.

Pat Forde wrote an article on the paper comparing him to Bobby Petrino. That really got under my skin. Petrino left the Falcons during the middle of the season to take another job and not even telling his players. Coach Knight at least told his players, had a valid reason, and is going no where else to coach. He put in his time and I'm glad I had the privilege of being able to watch him coach.

I never did like Pat Forde anyways, doesn't have a clue what he is talking about.

I dont think he's finished just yet in college basketball. I say he will be back some time, but if Im wrong, he had a great career and good luck to his son taking over.

IMO Bobby Knight was great for the game I will miss watching games that he is coaching. Although he said yesterday that he was leaving the door open to coach again in the right situation. I hope he coaches another 10-20 years. My favorite college coach of all time behind Dean Smith.

Im sure Bobby Knight is not gonna stop coaching with 902 wins and Dickie V even said he still thinks that the General has 10 more years in him, and I just think he needs to take over a better program and have more to work with
