excellent points!

This has been brought up recently (not sure if it was in US Congress or in a State). The main point that I read against it was that Welfare is supposed to be to help the children, and it isn't their fault that their parents are out doing drugs.
But I am all for it.

The bad part about this is, the kids don't benefit from it anyway. The parents keep having kids to get more money so they can buy more drugs, 4 wheelers, boats and whatever else while the rest of us work. Most of them on the draw are in better shape than most of us working.

I think it would be a great idea.

The kids don't benefit from it anyways (repeating what SlingBlade93 said).
So the what's the solution?
My proposal: put the money that would have gone in Welfare checks and set up community centers for kids with food, places to play, maybe medical centers (although I think schools kind of take care of that now).

Agree 100%.. And if the parents can't pass the drug tests, they need their kids taken from them....
I also think there should be strict limits on the duration of these benefits. They are too lenient right now.
People could always raise a garden and store their food like in the old days if they don't want to work, but that might be asking them to do too much work. hah

I agree 100%.

I have thought that for a long time. I think in order for people to set on their arse and get welfare they should have to pass drug screening. I think all jobs should do drug screenings and they should do more of them. I am tired of everyone on drugs around here.

Two points about this subject:
1) I agree with others that this law would not cause the children to suffer. If people are hooked on drugs, then that is where their money is going already, not toward their children. Rather than continue to enable these deadbeats by giving them more drug money just because they have children, social services needs to step in and get the children out of these homes. Then we can take away the check until they get clean.
2) In the real (re: working) world, people have to pass a drug test to keep their paycheck, what about their children if they lose their job? It's the same principle, if dad gets fired when he fails a drug test, no one says "Hey, let's let him keep his job because he has kids".
So, yes, I am definitely in favor of this law.
