School Single Game Scoring Record?
#1
Thought this one would be an interesting thread. Would love to hear some of them.
#2
I think Shelby Valley's single game scoring record is held by Jeremy Johnson with 41. Also, Paul Fleming once score 28, I think, in one half...
#3
Preston Simon had 46 against South Floyd a couple of years ago, which is second on Betsy Layne's single game scoring record. Not sure who holds spot #1 for BL. But 46 is still impressive!

I believe Keith Adkins went for 51 or 53 for Paintsville in the late 80's.

Ervin Stepp had 69 against Dorton in 1980. Bev Smallwood from Dorton had 71 against Millard in (84 ?)
#7
Ervin Stepp did have 69 against Dorton in 1981, in a losing effort. I played for Dorton in that game. Bev Smallwood did have 71 in a game for dorton coached by Bobby spears.
#8
Chris Puckett from Jenkins had 41 in a scrimmage game At Hazard vs Wolfe this season.
#9
Phelps' Ervin Stepp had 75 pts. against Feds Creek in 1980.

Flat Gaps Charlie Osborne had 64 pts. against Pikeville ( I think that is the school ) in the regional tournament in 1957.

I believe Keith Adkins had 56 pts. for his Paintsville team in 1987.

In 1998 Todd Tackett had 53 or 54 pts. in a game.

This is probably off topic but Cheryl Miller the announcer and sister of Reggie Miller once had 101 points in a high school game...
#12
100% your wrong about preston simon, Jeremy daniels had 49 against feds creek his senior year. Rocky newsome scored 48 against millard, and one other that scored in the forties but not sure on exact was craig johnson
#13
Todd Tackett holds the record for Paintsville with 56 I believe. Keith Adkind had 52 or 53. Todd broke the record at a home game.

You may be right on this one. I may have them backwards. Thanks

Wayne Oakley, Hanson High School, holds the Ky single game record with 114 pts. scored against St. Agnes on 12-21-1954. I had mentioned in an earlier thread that Ervin Stepp had scored 75 pts in a game, I should have said he tied the record belonging to King Kelly Coleman who set the record in a game against Maytowi in 1956. Some of the most prolefic scorers in state history has come from the 15th region.
#17
Betsy Lane's school record was in the 50+pt. range...probably by Grady Wallace or someone back in the day...Can't really remember the name..
#18
I know Stephen Seals has the Old Fleming Neon High School record with I believe 57 points. 14th Region Referee Tommy Hutton had the record with 55 before it was broken by Seals.

Hutton played at Neon?
#20
Yes he did.
#21
I believe Jonah Tackett has the Jenkins scoring record with 51 or 53 against Fleming Neon. I actually think he outscored Neon that game.
#22
How about King Kelly?
#23

No problem. Keith is actually my cousin and in fact held the record until Todd broke it.

Alright. Thanks for clearing that up. Way to bring me down gently. I knew of Jeremy's game, but didn't know of the other two.

sorry 100%, I knew it was against Feds creek or Elkorn, cause espn was there filming something at the time.
#28
14 3's by Richard Ritchie of Cordia in 92 against riverside, and 53 points by Tad Brewer in 92, in 1 game.
#29
I believe the most amazing high school stat, not just in basketball but all sports, is Ervin Stepp from phelps averaging 50 pts/game his senior year and that's without the 3 point shot. ****, most high school teams have a problem putting 50 on the board now days!
If I'm not mistaking, he averaged 48 pts/game his junior year.

Elliot Co. also scored 132 against Greenup County this year.

And 215, thats a big gap between the first and second highest scores.
