Pikeville Panthers 2008

Chuck Taylor Wrote:Are you sure the administration will allow this?

Why wouldn't the admin. let him. He left Pikeville on his own recognizance and to my knowledge would be welcomed back with open arms. I personally love this kid to death on and off the field. He has always benn a pleasure to be around.

He would relly help the Panthers out on both sides of the ball. He's a tremendous athlete that Pikeville missed this year. With him on the defensive side of the ball, Pikeville could possibly have the best secondary in the state. They would be able to lock down and go get'em.

i really dont know why they wouldnt...he left on his own...he was never forced to leave pikeville...so im sure he would be welcome back whenever he would like to come

It was not a simple I want to leave. He left for a reason. If I was the administration I would place some restrictions or monitoring on his return.

He would have to abide by the same rules as everyone else IMO. Still don't see why there would be any fuss at all.

your saying something positive?

but his last chance to come back and play is next year due to Senior sitout if he waits.

Like jetpilot said, i would just make him abide by the same rules as everyone else...i never once saw him do something at school that would make it where he shouldnt be allowed back or even be monitored if he returned

BUT...we need to get this thread back on topic because it is starting to drift off

He left to deal with some personal issues. I hope these have been resolved. He definitely has the talent. But IMHO he will need to be closely monitored if he returns.

Not for sure about the football field, but his younger brother definitely has some basketball skills.

I coached Houston for two full years and part of last year and he never gave me or any other coaches any problems at all. Nor did he cause any problems within our team. He is a good kid and a great athlete no matter what others may say. It tore me up when he left but I understood why and wanted what was best for him. Now if he thinks that coming back is what he wants to do and what is best for him then I now that I would welcome him back with open arms.

Very True...We all know that Houston would be a big help and a true supporter would want what is best for him and the team!

No problems during the last two years? You need to come clean. I have been around for quite a few years and there has been many problems with him over the past two years. This is sad that you would say otherwise. We have all seen it.

I agree with Coach, He is one of the toughest players i have ever seen in pads.

Train is talking about on the field. What he does off the field coach cant really force anything on him. I guarantee if you were in the same situation Houston has been, wouldnt know what to do with yourself. Not being disrespectful to anyone though

I know what youre talking about. But, all we can do is hope and pray that this situation he put himself in has caused him to grow up some. I know this kid personaly and deep down he is a good kid and he will do only what you let him by with. In that case hes no different than any other kid I ever met in my life including myself when I was his age. I do believe that this kid had better tow the line both on and off the field when and if he comes back. But, I also believe that he and all other kids, good athletes or not, deserve a second chance. To all the adults on here that are bad mouthing this kid I have one thing to say "Judge not lest ye be judged yourself".

How dare you call me out on something you have no idea about! If you would learn how to read you would have seen that I said he did not cause me or any other coaches any problems nor did he cause problems within our team. I don't care how many years you have been, you haven't been on sidelines everyday for practice and games to see how tough and truly how good of a kid Houston is. I don't know how it is sad that I am speaking the truth from my past experiences. What is sad is your distorted visual reality of what is actually taking place within our world. Our world meaning Pikeville football, something you obviously know nothing about.

I too have seen Houston disrupt practice and games. Heck there was a lot of talk among players and community members about how he was affecting the team. To say otherwise is absurd. There is no doubt he has talent to be successful. Nothing wrong with second chances for any person. But I am wondering how this will effect the team if he has not changed.

I already questioned your coaching ability but now I question your observation abilities. Time to bring back a "Howard". They can coach and keep their players in line.

Dude its not 1987 anymore. So cut youre mullet and take the Bon Jovi album out of youre T-top camaro LOL!!!!. Hillard is gone and I dont think Ben would ever come here to coach with the situation hes in at LCC and I dont blame him. Pikeville football supporters have turned into Alabama fans in the years after Bear Bryant left. Meaning every coach that has been here since Coach Howards been gone has been reviled for one simple and silly reason....because they arent Hillard Howard and dont do things exactly like HE did them. Dont get me wrong I played for Coach Howard (yes I still call him Coach when I see him) and Ill take pride in that till the day GOD calls me home. But, in order for this program to move forward weve got to be proud of the past but not live in it all the time. As far as you questioning coach Gravys abilities, let me ask this. How much coaching experience do YOU have? Coach Gravy has made some good D-lineman out of kids who IMO had no buisness playing that postion in the first place. Could you do that? I would say that Id like to see you try but that wouldnt happen cause youd much rather sit on your behind in the stands and question what everyone else does.

Again its sad that coaches even post on these boards. Message boards were developed for fans to discuss their feelings about situations. Now coaches are so paranoid that they have to spend their leisure time worrying about what everyone is saying. Win the big games and there will be a lot less talk. IMHO Pikeville has the worst coaching staff it has had since the pre-Hillard days.

ok Mr. Chuck Taylor. What coaching staff do you recommend if Pikeville's is so bad? because their not. Trust me, i would know and they do all possible to get the kids to play football they way it should be played.

I think Pikeville needs to let the coaching staff go and do an actual coaching search this time. Not a simple posting of the job. I truly believe that the Panthers are going in the wrong direction. Just because a few of the PHS coaches and their friends have to defend themselves on here does not mean the rest of community will continue to accept the coacing staff's mediocrity.
