The only D1 player from the state of Kentucky I known about was the kid from Mason County. He signed with UK which is a good thing. I don't believe we have any D1 players in the 14th or 15th regions though. We have some outstanding athletes, but no D1 basketball players.

Landson Slone will play small division I somewhere along with Clark Stepp. If you like him or not it doesn't matter because they're both good ball players.
There's another signing period in the spring so they still have time to be noticed and signed and you technically don't need to "sign" to be on a team.

The only two that would come close to having a chance is Landon Slone and Clark Stepp. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of boys that can play ball but there just not good enough to play at that kind of stage. Although, it would be nice to see any of the boys from the 14th & 15th play college basketball, doesn't matter if its NAIA, or NCAA.

I think Slone will end up at Georgetown.

What do you consider small D1 ? Are you talking about a mid-major school? I really dont know exactly what small D1 actually is. Never heard of it.
Watch what some of the good NAIA schools have as far as talent, as well as what a mid major such as Morehead or Marshall have. I dont think that there is a vast amount of difference as most of really good NAIA guards are D1 transfers to begin with. At both divisions you have 6'0" to 6'1" super quick guards that play way above the rim............ All 3 of Clarks uncles lead the state /and or the nation in scoring at one period of their careers. They quickly found out that they were nowhere near capable of playing at even the mid major level even back in a time when athleticism was not as previlent of a factor as it is in the game today. In my opinion, neither player is anywhere close to being as talented as either of the 3 older Stepps, so that to me says probably not.

I don't see anyone from the 15th going D1
I watch alot of high school basketball and we have some really good ball players here in the mountains. I agree with a lot of you that there is no one in the mountains that is D1 material. i think the most that we all can hope for is that some of our players play NAIA ball and for some that is a stretch. But good luck to all the players in this up and coming season.

There are 330+ schools in D-1, so if you are 6'3 and can spell and shoot a little, someone probably would let you walk on or something.
That said, I haven't seen a true D-1 type player in the 15th for a long time. Slone and Stepp are nice players, but both would do themselves a service by playing NAIA ball at Georgetown or Union. They'd get a good education and get to play against a D-1 team during exhibitions.

At the moment i think the only two are Clark Stepp and Landon Slone. There is some great young talent in the mountains coming up so keep on the look out in the next few years.

Stepp is not a D1 player. He is too much of a ball hog for that. There are no D1 players in the 14th or 15th region. No one around here gets recognized for anything unless they make 40 pts a game, and to me a good player can do it all. Pass the ball, make a few pts, get a few rebounds, a few blocks, a few steals, and have a few assists. There are only a few of those guys around and no one seems to care unless they are top scorers. Take Tate Cox from JBS don't get the credit he deserves because he is over shadowed by Clark Stepp same goes for Trey Short. Jarrod Amburgey from KCC is the same, he gets over shadowed by Stuart Stamper. Stepp and Stamper are good players but all they can do is handle the ball and shoot their arms off. And I think both of these teams could be better if these two boys would play team ball instead of trying to win the games by themselves.
