You are right they will never be an elite program. Until they get more kids from Florida, Texas, and California they will be mediocre. Plus the coaching staff isn't that good. UK beat some teams this year and yes the LSU game was a huge upset, but Miles should have played Periloux more. UK also needs their fans to expect more out of the program, just having a place to tailgate on Saturday isn't what football is about. Winners win and Losers lose people shouldn't celebrate being average. If they can recruit better and change the losing atmosphere UK could have a decent program, if they can't get used to Nashville about every two or three years.

It doesn't matter where kids are from. There a good football players from all over the country. The coaching staff is good. Rich Brooks has a field named after him in the Pac 10 and has turned a severe probation riddled team into a bowl team for 2 straight years now. Joker Phillips will be a head coach somewhere at a big program very soon.

Periloux? What would he have done so different? He ran the ball 5 times for a big 15 yards. He can't pass the ball. He's 3-8 in passing in SEC play. What would he have done so different?

UK has been less than average for a while, and after being punished with such severe probation UK fans should celebrate last season and this season for sure. UK is 6-3 with a top 5 Strength of Schedule. What do you want fans to do, boycott the games? Smile

Who cares what LSU did or didn't do. UK beat them. They beat in state rival Louisville and beat Arkansas on the road. The played Florida to 1 TD. They're a good team. Not mediocre. And success or eliteness as you keep referring to it as doesn't happen overnight or in that matter in a couple of seasons. It takes small steps, and the last two years have been large steps for this program. Steps towards success for future programs to achieve more, and to get those special recruits that you know so much about. Nobody should expect an undefeated season right away or anything such as that especially in the SEC. We're not accepting mediocrity we're just smart enough to see a step forward when it happens. Considering Kentucky was 3-8 two years ago and 2-9 before that, Kentucky football is no longer a joke, and won't be again.

Kentucky is in a conference where SEC teams usually have three or four of the top ranked recruiting classes EVERY year. Georgia, Florida, LSU, Alabama, Auburn...we're talking great athlete after great athlete in those states. If most kids want to stay fairly close to home to go to school (and they do), if UK is competitive in the SEC in football, that's a very good accomplishment.

I agree, Kentucky may not be an elite team, but they can beat anyone in the country. When they are clicking on all cylinders, the sky is the limit (as evidenced by the LSU game). When things are not going so smoothly, this team can be upset by a lesser team. The better team doesn't always win every game, that's why they actually go out and play. What they did in all their other games doesn't matter, it's who plays better on that particular day. And that's what makes college football great.

You are absolutely correct, UK needs this bye week in the worst possible way.
