Breathitt county
#1
Does anyone know anything at all about them or a team that they compare too?
#2
Here is Breathitt County's schedule and results.

I think I would be more concerned with Raceland, East Carter and then the possible reamatch with Mason County first.

They can run & they can throw. Really! I don't like them, but they are pretty solid. Keep your head on a swivel, cause they will hit you.....late.
They compare to Powell Co. except they can run and throw and they are real aggressive......LOL

They are a very talented team. They run a west coast style offense much like Florida. There quarterback Colby Fugate isn't that accurate but he has a strong arm and speedy receivers to throw to. They run alot of options and draws out of the shotgun to there back Channing Fugate, and there line is big and strong. There defense gets to the ball quick and they have alot of speed in the secondary. This is a well coached team, with a coach that won the 2002 Class AA State Championship in Mike Holcomb. Even though most may say they haven't played a tough schedule they are really good and they are good at keeping there offense on the field. The only weakness I seen in them was that they didn't hold on to the ball very well.

Locks of dink and dunks out of the passing game, they use the shovel pass alot, runners are agile and strong, receivers are quick and can burn you deep when you get lulled to sleep with their short routes and misdirection.

Defensively, expect a very undersized but quick defense that will absolutely light you up. John Chapman defenses play very agressive with numerous blitzes, stunts, and primarily press coverage.
#6
Up til the realignment, they were usually the team Belfry had to beat to get to play you guys Wink

They tend to be fast, agile, and aggressive. They also tend to make few mistakes. As said before, they run a more complex offense than most high schools, and their D is one of the best I've ever seen. Lots of stunts and blitzes. They'll confuse you up front, or keep trying until they find something that works. With the WingT and the WonderD being mostly static formations, you all could be in for a rough night. You'll HAVE to play consistent and clean to beat them. Your biggest advantage will be size up front: USE IT! Keep pushing them back and wear them down.
#7
They are a more offensive minded than defensive minded team. But watch out for the D because they will light you up.

In American football, "West Coast Offense" ("WCO") is one of two similar but distinct offensive-strategic-systems of play: (A) the "Air Coryell" system; or (B) more commonly the pass play system popularized by Bill Walsh. However, WCO may simply refer to an offense that places a greater emphasis on passing than on running.

IMO Breathatt is the #2 team in the state in 3a when we played them last year they only started about 2 seniors or so and they had a very good team then . At the start of this season I picked them to win it all but after seeing Belfry I think they will be the team to beat . I don't think Russell can beat them but hey thats why they play the games on the field. I Think the 3A class is the best in the state this year . Good luck to all of you guys in the play-offs

Oh, yeah, almost forgot...

Get the Pburg game. Find what they did right and do that, just do it better Tongue

I've state on here many times this year and I'll do it again. I saw Breathitt Co play Boyd Co this year.

They are fast. They rely on the short pass routes. Across the middle and in the flats. They don't have the long bomb capability thay had in 2002 but they run the same offense. Their O line does a good job of pass blocking. Their running game is pretty much limited to the outside sweep because they don't have a lot of size in the backfield but they do have some speed.
Defensively they had a real tough time containing Boyd Co's running game. So If you have a nice backfield you can keep them on their heels. Their linebackers are nothing special in size or skill level. But their seciondary is quick and plays their assignments very well.

They have about 3 playmakers on the team. Take them away and they're just another AAA team lucky to make the play-offs.

Over-all theough they are a pretty solid football team, but I feel either Belfry or Russell could handle them pretty easy.

Take away Jones at QB and Russell doesn't miss a beat. Take him away on Defense and the Defense won't be as tough on his side of the field.

I disagree with you here. Breathitt is good hard hosed football team who will never beat themselves. They have an outstanding LB in the Jackson kid, and some very good D lineman. There secondary is the best we have seen this year eventhough it was in a scrimmage. Breathitt will also throw at least 2 or 3 deep passes a game from what I have seen to keep you honest. They may have a hard time with Belfry but it will be close with Russell.

I know you and several others. We are around the team and keep in contact with the coaches. We are not saying anything out of the ordinary. Just play the game and not worry about the little stuff.

You should show your fans more respect than that, they go far and wide for your team and deserve alot more respect than what your showing.

I probably know more than you think. But thats OK. I only want the best for you guys. If you don't want the advice thats up to you. But I will quit saying stuff like that when you guys quit posting questions about teams that you may possibly face deep in the playoffs.

By the way. You've been playing really well lately. Keep it up.

Looking at Breathitt's schedule, the only impressive wins were Prestonsburg and LCA. They most likely will not be tested anymore until they get Russell in the 3rd round of the playoffs.

thank you...but i just dont see what the big deal is about knowing what other teams do?

Some people see it as looking forward. Something that no team can really afford to do.

Its not a big deal if its somebody you know you are going to play during the season. But looking that far ahead at a possible playoff matchup, and starting a thread about it, even if you are confident, can come across as arrogance or cockiness. I don't think it is but perception is reality to most.
