World Series - Red Sox vs. Rockies
#1
Who takes the series and how many games will it take for them to win it?
#2
I'll go with the Rockies in 6.
#3
bo sox all the way baby!!!
#4
I'd like to see the Rockies win but its not gonna happen, the Sox are just too much. Sox win in 5.
#5
I'll say Boston in 5 or 6 games. Beckett will probably win 2 games and Schilling maybe another, then someone out of the bullpen. Matsuzaka hasnt pitched very well this postseason so I dont see him getting a win. Also the Rockies have some decent pitchers that will keep them in games and good enough hitting to win, but I just think that Boston's lineup is too much for the Rockies to handle.

Matsuzaka was the winner of last nights ALCS game. As for the line-up being too much, the Rockies have swept both of their NL opponents, and have won something like 22 of their last 23 games. To do that you have to be good and clicking at the right time. The pitchers and players have had time to rest and nurse any possible injuries. The 8 day lay off may hurt them in the first game, but I look for them to be able to come out and continue the way they have been playing.

You may be right, but I hope not, because im a Sox fan and would love to see them win another world series. But I just dont think Colorado can handle Boston.

Both of these teams are riding different kinds of momentum. Colrado going 22-1 their last 23 games regular and postseason combined. Then Boston having their backs against the walls once again in the ALCS down 3-1 to Cleveland, showing their strides and coming back to win the series in seven. Beckett will dominate like he has already in the playoffs and Schilling will do what he has to do to provide and the middle of the Red Sox lineup, Ortiz, Ramirez, Youk, Lowell, and then Tek will tear up the Colorado pitching. Too much experience as well for Boston as they return 7 starters from the '04 WS team so thats a big plus as well. I will take the Sox in a sweep.

I would LOVE to see the Rockies win it (sorry PLAYBOY) just because what they had to do to even get to the playoffs, I think they deserve more than anyone. I do think the 4 day lay-off is gonna hurt them because the Red Sox are gonna be able to start at the beginnin of the rotation, Ijust don't think the Rockies have enough to beat Beckett, Schilling and the Japanese dude.

If Joey Chestnut can take out Kobayashi in hot dogs, then why the heck can't the Rockies take out Matsuzaka in baseball.Big Grin Schilling is a good pitcher, but nothing like he was the last time the Bo Sox made it this far. No bloody sock or the filming of "Fever Pitch" this year to give the guys a little momentum. Beckett was handed his first loss that sent him to a 7-1 record on the year against the Rockies at Fenway. It's not like Colorado is coming in and going to be taken back from their surroundings in the greatest park in the big leagues. They've been there before so its no big thing in my mind. I also don't buy into that "they've never made it this far" stuff. If that was the case then the same teams would be repeating as champions every year. I'm not sure on the exact number but think the Rockies as a team have an ERA of a little below 3.0 during this post season and have been knocking the cover off the baseball, but so have the Red Sox. If the Rockies can swipe one of the two away at Fenway before heading to Denver then they will clinch it there.

The worse possible thing that could happen to the Rockies is days off. When a team is playing as good as the Rockies were, you want to be on the field playing in a game, every single day. 8 days without a game will, IMO, hurt Colorado. Their offense is stout, and pitching is good, but not great.
The Red Sox are coming off a huge series with the Indians and have a ton of momentum going into the World Series. I think though, regardless of what happened during the year, that Boston's pitching is too much for the Rockies. Beckett has to come out and set the tone though in the opener ( I assume he'll pitch the first game). In front of a Boston crowd, I think he can do that.

Red Sox in 5.
MVP- Kevin Youklis or Dustin Pedroia

Can we get a spell check on the MVP's?Big Grin I couldn't spell it right even if I was looking at one of their cards.

God son, you're an idiot. Yeah how many years and tries did it take for Chestnut to finally take down Kobioshi.

As for the series, I just think the long layoff is gonna hurt em. Like Pupaw said, when you are on fire like Colorado is, you wanna be out on the field playin.

I'm sayin Rockies in 5. Of course, Beckett will be Beckett Wednesday, even tho I think Francis has the stuff to keep Boston hitters off balance in that game as well. But beyond that, i dont see Boston taking another game, unless Francona has the nads to try and get Beckett in 1-4-7, which he may very well do with Wakefield ailing. Schilling is nowhere near what he used to be, and i think Matsuzaka will get drilled in Col, leading to the Rockies to take games 2,3,4,5. I will go out on a limb Big Grin and say MVP for Holliday, to go with his soon to be NL regular season MVP.
As T.O. once said....Getcha popcorn ready

The BIG factor in this series is gonna be WEATHER. Which team will be able to stand the cold, hell it was snowin at the stadium the other day in Colorado. Matsuzaka may not know how to react in 30 degree weather and snow flyin by his eyes.

Rockies in 5

Rockies in 7

:Hungry: Either way it's going to be a great series, I do think the Sox are going to be tough to beat.
Can't wait til tomorrow!!
#24
Boston in 6!!!
#25
I REALLY hope that the Rockies can pull it off, but I'm afraid that the 8 day layoff will really hurt their chances. The Sox are already a great team, and this kills whatever momentum the Rocks may have had.

I'll say Sox in 7.

Ill take Boston in 6 games with Beckett Winning 2 games and the offense carrying the rest because when the whole line up is on like thye were in the last three game sof the CLeveland series the SOX are hard to beat.
#27
Rockies in 4
#28
Looking good in game 1. Boston leads 9-1 in the home half of the 5th. Beckett is dominating!

Dont he always?? lol....Beckett is clutch in the playoffs!!! GO SOX!!!

I wonder if the Sox are planning on pitching Beckett again in game 4 (on short rest) or just using him in game 5 on his normal schedule? If they bring him back early for game 4, they will also likely bring him back on short rest again in a potential game 7.
