Maybe Pikeville should fire the entire staff and hire you and PB5 to run the show. Then they could go 0 for however long you are there. These coaches put in a lot of hours and I know that these boys put there trust in them. You guys need to worry about you respective programs at Paintsville and Jenkins.
Matt Branham and Blake aren't brothers??? That's funny you say that considerin Matt told me himself that Blake was his lil bro, lol. You may know where I'm from but you don't know me personally, I know ALOT about the personel. Mike Jackson is a run first coach, he's just like Chuke Williams.

Honaker. His arm is good enough to run that offense. I meant the offense they ran back in 1999-2001. It may not actually be a "run and gun" offense, but that's what I called it.

That was Matt's first year startin I believe. I know that was my freshman year. I think Ben graduated in 99', but his senior football season woulda been 98'.

it may be im pretty good friends with ben and i do remember him talking about some big game that might have been the one...

Yeah, 1998 was the year Middlesboro won the state and had the strong legged kicker Justin Wynn or Wind, it was something like that. They defeated Pikeville in the Regional Championship and then took out Beechwood in the round of 4.

I thought our defense was playing like head hunters all night. Our offense looked better in the 2nd half. IMO with the Honakers and Harmon all three at RBs we looked alot better. We were alot tougher to defend because the defense couldnt just key on DH all the time.

But I think it would be even better in a shotgun formation with Tim to one side and Harmon the other with Baker and Ted at wide outs and Staggs or Ritchie at TE. That's putting all your play makers on the field at the same time and also giving Blake some more time to throw. It also spread the defense out and allows for more use of the great team speed we have.

Yeah that was the best Class A team I have ever seen. We had them 28-28 at the half and they came out and put 35 up in a hurry. We were all trying to play hurt in that game. Matt B. was playing with a cast, our best lineman was playing with a cast, John Chapman was out with an ankle injury, and I was playing with a torn up knee and could only play offense.

I remember that game. I would have loved to have seen Pikeville play Middlesboro that year with everyone healthy.

I thought that was the year. What do you think HazzBeen, wouldn't Pikeville be better off runnin that kinda offense instead of that Maryland I stuff.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach Jackson and believe in what he is doing at Pikeville. I think he has realized that his defense is the strong point of his team and he is trying to control the clock with his running game. The bad thing about the spread is that you can put your defense into some bad situations. A lot of times we will go three and out with only 10 seconds running off the clock (three straight incomplete passes), and then the defense is back on the field. However, sometimes you can go one play and a touchdown. That is why you see a lot of spread teams giving up a lot of points. You throw INT's and you give the other team a lot of possessions. I like it for the simple fact that you can score on anybody, if they make one simple mistake. In saying all this, I think Pikeville could be successful in the spread if they could find a QB. You can't throw any QB in there and he will be successful. Blake will be a good one but he is still young and with the Honaker kid, I am still not sold on his accuracy. I think Matt B. and myself were both lucky to have a wonderful coach teach us and we both had wonderful receivers at the time. Chase Gibson and Jeremiah Akers were two of the best ever at Pikeville and we had both of them to throw to.
I grew up watching this same kind of power football at Pikeville and they were very successful with it. I know one thing, the more you rep it, the better you get at it. Haywood shows that every year at Belfry. It is so fun to see his teams at the beginning of the year and then at the end. Let's see if Pikeville cannot do the same this year. Goodluck Panthers!

You may think you know A Lot about the personnel but you know nothing compared to me and the inside that I have.

I didn't mean throw the ball like crazy. I'm talkin bout that same style of offense they had with Rogers. He rushed for 1,500 yards in that shot-gun set. Like someone else said earlier, put the honaker at QB, have his bro to one side of him and Harmon to the other. John Derossett ran that same offense in 2001 when they went to the state champioship and it was unstoppable. If Joey Willis wouldn't have broke his thumb that week in practice Pburg may have won it. Pikeville just doesn't have the O-line IMO. Harmon didn't do anything against Paintsville til the end of the 3rd quarter and the entire 4th and that's only because Paintsville got tired. I have never been a fan of the Maryland I or the veir, Paintsville could have been really good the year Chuke Williams helped coach but when you run that offense with a mediocre o-line, when you play a good team with good d-line and linebackers, it's useless. Pikeville offense is gonna have to score ALOT if they wanna beat Hazard, and I just don't see it happenin.

 Gotcha now. I was readin too fast to take that in and comprehend it, lol.
I know alot about football and I know Pikeville ain't gonna get anywhere runnin that offense. I was just makin a suggestion and givin my opinion earlier when I said they orta run the same type offense they ran back in the early 2000's. I played against em then and I know how hard it was to stop that offense versus stopping the option and the veir.

I understand what you are saying Redneck. You don't have to convince me the spread works. We went 5-6 with the wishbone my junior year under Mayo and then went 11-3 out of the spread with Chapman. I have seen the belly series work very well also though. Chuke did a good job at Lawrence with it. Let's just see how the Panthers end up before everyone starts criticizing them.
