Good job Pirates..

I thought the outcome would be this way.

Way to go Belfry

Listened to some of it and it sounded like a good game in the first half, but looks like the Pirates made adjustments and took over in the second half. Congrats Pirates!

Congrats Belfry and Coach Haywood on this milestone.

The second straight week that Sheldon Clark has given up a 300th win to a coach. Great win by the Pirates. Like I said in my predictions, if they give it to Dials every play up the middle, he will and did get stuffed every time.

Good job by the Pirates, and this gives us even more confidence that we can go deep in the postseason again, with now clinching the first 2 games of the playoffs at home.

I will give the kid credit, he gained almost 150 yards. Albeit, he only gained 25 in the 2nd Half, but the kid played his heart out for SC.

Bottom line in this one, Belfry came out flat in the First half, then the real Pirate team showed up and whooped the Cards.

Sc only stopped the Pirate 1st string offnese twice. A punt on the second posession and the INT before the half. It can eb argued though that SC never stopped the Pirates, as the first drive was killed by penalties, and the second drive was just the wrong decision by Elkins and poor clock management.

Dustin May was a mule tonight, the Pirate pass defense was impeccable.

Congrats, Belfry and Coach Haywood.

Just curious...on WYMT, during a Dustin May highlight, one of the anchors said something to the affect of "...and that's why UK wants him." or something like that. Is UK looking at May? It just got my attention and got me thinking.

This has been covered in other threads, but to summarize quickly:

Looking- Yes, definately... him and Lee were both on the field last weekend with the recruits.

Wanting- Definately, they would love to have May on the team.

Offering A Scholarship- Doubtful, not for a FB and LB who can't run a 4.5 40.... UK only ha sa hdnful of schollies this season,. and with this newfound success you can bet they are holding their offers close for some bigger name prospects.

Good job Pirates. Can't believe some thought this would be tight. We,(Powell Co.) Got it handed to us by Breathitt tonight. I know you have to take each game one at a time, but I hope you guys get Breathitt in the playoffs. They are classless. From one Pirate to another.......Hope you can take the trophy to Eastern KY. You have a fan in CENTRAL kY. BTW, Ricky Skeens says HI. (He's a former Blfry Pirate C/O 87')

As badly as I absolutely hate to say it, this officially makes the cards overrated. We've faced 2 real teams this year, and we've lost miserably to both. 7-0 sounds nice..when you havent played anyone decent..lol

Just so I dont sound like a sore looser..Gratz Belfry :p and gratz to the coach for his 300th win.

Congrats Pirates!! AND Coach Haywood....

We played an incredibly sloppy first quarter, and the rest of the game wasn't quite what our kids are capable of. Don't get me wrong, SC is the best team we've played so far (Boyd we were sloppier, and they didn't score). We ground them down. The Defense at the start of the game was a different bunch of kids after the half. They were slower, and looked worn down. The first half the Cardinal OLine was able to, for the most part, keep Phil and Corey out of the backfield, but in the 2nd half I think they both had 3+ tackles behind the line. Charlie Dotson had possibly the game of his life tonight. I'd hate to be the guy that has to block HIM every play.

Dials, you are the best athlete we've played against so far. Hat's off to you, can't wait to watch you again in the playoffs.

Good Luck to the cards on the rest of the season, until Nov. 16, at least Wink

The radio had Dials with 126 yards, and only six in the second half.
Belfry really picked up their game and tackled well in the second half.
Congrats to Coach Haywood, and most of all thanks for everything you have done for this Belfry program, and will continue to do.

Congrats to Haywood and our brothers in the Mountains.... Getting closer.

Congrats Haywod on 300. SC, the last two games, has no heart IMO. Good game in the first half. second half, the pirates took over. Good luck both teams in the playoffs.

SC showed all kinds of heart I thought, heart kept them in the game early. But eventually Belfry took over with a combination of talent and depth.

Belfry held Dials to 6 yards in the second half..

I was at the scrimmage of Belfry/Boyd Co. and I think I recall Gatlin Barker run a good 65 yard touchdown untouched. It was a straight dive play up tackle and also I remember Boyd Co. in a tie with Belfry when I left towards the end of the scrimmage, but maybe second string was in or something, but I remember seeing the what I would think starting line of Belfry for Gatlin's run.

Belfry is going to have to do a better job or wrapping up when tackling.. They tried that with Dials in the first half, and he broke away for a couple big gains.. Belfry for the last two games have came out flat in the first half.. Dials again didn't really impress me, he doesn't block at all.. and on defense he doesn't seem to me to give 100%.. The only time it seems he gives 100% percent is running the ball.. Hes a decent back, but not good enough to play in the SEC... Nor is Dustin May.. Belfry made way TOO MANY mistakes tonight.. Too many penaltys that shouldn't have been made, and from stupid things too.. When you stop someone on 4th down, keep your head in the game, don't lose your temper because someone is running thier mouth.. Belfry still has alot they need to improve on..
#26
Aside from 2 big rushes ( 1 for 43 an another for a liitle more) Dial's didnt do anything... I was impressed with him though, he is a pure athlete, he has very good balance an keeps his feet moving, that is why he breaks so many tackles, not his size or speed...

PAYBACK! Way to go BIG RED! And Congrats to the classiest coach to ever step on a football field IMO, also known as my idol...PHILLIP HAYWOOD!!!! #300!!!!!!

What??? SC is by no means better than Corbin. Scrimmages (Boyd Co) don't count.

I honestly thought the score would be a bit closer, congratz Pirates.

Belfry IMO will be 3A state champions. Very good team! Wouldn't be surprised if they beat everyone in the playoffs like that, including championship. Championship teams have GREAT "D", need I say more?
