Well we still have two more games and the worst officals I have seen we had over 200 yards in pentalities. a player and a coach tossed from the game.

thanks to the officals they gave Greenup county a win LC would have won the game if the officals didn't take it away from the LC boys that was the worst game I seen officated

The absolute worst blatantly 1-sided horrible officiating I have ever witnessed. 240 yards in penalties against the Dawgs. The boys better hold up their heads cause they won this game-nothing against the players at GC , but what a cheap way to get a win. How can those officials sleep at night knowing they cheated the Dawgs out of the game?:redboxer:

This was a rediculous game. I have never seen a game reffed in such a horrible way!

Its even worse that OUR player got thrown out of the game after having a certain area grabbed by a GC player!! Thats just dirty! The boys were cheated in the worst possible way!! Our defense needs to be under control..& the coach needs to get his head on straight!

210+ yards of penalties?! PATHETIC! I dont know if the refs were from GC, or were just being slipped a few under the table.. but this was BAD!

I sure hope GC players/coaches/refs can sleep tonight, after practically having this game handed to them. Well deserved? Not hardly.

Congrats to Waller and Shepherd on having a good game. Lets see Shepherd in at QB for the next few games!

I heard that the "white hat" was definitely from Greenup. Pitiful called game. Worst that I have ever seen in a high school game, and believe me, I have seen a lot. The better team did not win tonight. Not only was there a lot of yardage on penalities, what these stats do not show is the impact of big plays called back: the recovery of fumbles that was not given, yardage negated and penalty yards on top of that, and of course the infamous "holding calls" that we always get at GC. The boys played their hearts out, but you can't take one step forward and the refs make you take two steps back and it not impact the game's outcome. I would be the first to say "they were just a better team or they wanted it more than us" in the event of a loss, but that is not the case here. Nothing against the boys on GC's team, but they can thank their refs for this game.
I thought that Coty Roberts and Acie Waller had good games and showed leadership on the field. Made big plays when needed. Chandler (freshman) did good stepping in the QB position and look for him to get more comfortable as he continues for the season. Josh Ferguson & Tyler Hinton played tough on defense. Seen Coty in on some key defensive plays as well.
IMO, that article in the independent....it's a joke Rolleyes but what can you expect.

Not to mention all of the unsportsman-like conduct calls against Lawrence County. I saw one Dawg get clipped (of course with no flag) and try to argue it then get a call for unsportsmanlike conduct. This happened all night long. I've gotta say it was the hardest game I've ever had to sit through. It was hard to believe it was really happening. Hold your head up Dawgs. This was one taken from you! You played your hearts out.

Don't ever think that the ADI would ever have kind words about LC-look how they treat Boyd Co.? Kinda like Paintsville and Johnson Central. Just won't ever happen.

Worse than what you get at Tolsia, WV?Smile Just kidding. In all seriousness though I have heard from alot of people that this game was dictated by the stripes.

With a home playoff game at stake, it was the home team that earned it at Greenup County on Friday night.

The Musketeers (2-6) fought their way out of a tight game against Lawrence County with a 22-point fourth quarter, led by senior tailback T.J. Stephenson, en route to a 35-20 district victory.

“He’s just a great back,” said Greenup County coach Mike Sammons. “We’ve struggled to kind of feature him and to find plays that work well with him and the offensive line, but it worked tonight.”

It worked, but Stephenson did not fully get his motor running until the fourth quarter, when he scored three touchdowns.

“We got in a (power-I formation) and he just kind of hid behind the offensive line, just to squirt free at the last minute,” Sammons said.

Stephenson “squirted free” for 150 yards rushing against the Bulldogs. But he wasn’t the only problem for Lawrence County.

The Bulldogs were seeing yellow all night, which was Greenup County’s homecoming night. Lawrence County had a whopping total of 18 penalties for 157 yards.

“A lot of bad things happened,” said Lawrence County coach Billy Goldsmith. “Penalties just killed us. A lot of that was just bad leadership.”

After senior tailback Coty Roberts ran one in for six early in the second, the Bulldogs began to compile the penalties. Roberts finished with 103 rushing yards.

The officials whistled the Lawrence County sidelines for several of the penalties.

And after a Greenup County run by Corey Justice in the second quarter, Lawrence County senior Tim Hayes was ejected following a personal foul call.

Goldsmith thought injuries caught up to the Bulldogs as well.

“We have a lot of kids banged up, and we really struggled to finish,” he said. “This is the most amount of injuries we’ve ever had, but the kids played hard and they never quit.”

Despite injuries and penalties, the Bulldogs stayed in the game and actually led the affair going into the fourth quarter, 14-13.

Freshman quarterback Chandler Shepherd connected on 12 of 14 passes for 193 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown pass to senior wideout Acie Waller, who had six catches for 177 yards.

“Other than that long pass, they couldn’t get too much going against us,” Sammons said.

Greenup County’s defense, with the help of penalties, held Lawrence County deep in its own territory twice late in the game.

On both occasions, the Bulldogs punted to give Greenup County excellent field position, in which the Musketeers capitalized upon.

This erased any serious chance at a Bulldog comeback.

Along with Stephenson, Greenup County quarterback Eric Craft played a big role in the win, which secured the No. 2 seed in the district and a home playoff game on Nov. 9 against Rowan County.

Craft was 12-for-21, throwing for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

“Eric has played well all season long,” Sammons said. “He managed the game really well tonight, and he just keeps getting better and better each week.”

Next week Craft and the Musketeers will be at home against winless Lewis County, another team with a good passing game.

Lawrence County (1-7) will travel to Breathitt County next Friday.

The Daily Independent had LC for only 157 yards in penalities. Can someone verify this or was there more?

I was told last night 240?? Compared to Greenup's 40 at most??
