Found this today...Everyone blames money (including myself at times of frustration) as the reason why teams like the Reds can't compete for a World Series title. Look at these numbers:
Playoff payrolls/Not how much, but how wisely it's spent - that's the key.
2. Red Sox 143.0 million
23. Indians 61.6 million
25. Rockies 54.4 million
26. Diamondbacks 52.0 million
20. Reds 68.9 million
Here's the payroll rankings of the past five World Series champions: 11, 13, 2, 25 and 15.
Here's the payroll rankings of the teams that lost in those five World Series: 14, 12, 9, 1, 10.
