#2
McGlone-Russell
Haywood-Belfry
#3
*Wayne Lohaus-Fulton City!
Didnt win a game in 06 and are 6-0 right now!
*Halcomb-Breathitt
*Haywood-Belfry
*Hilton-Bell Co
A lot of good coaches desreve it but I would say coach Lohaus!

These coaches have done an excellent job so far.

Haywood- Belfry
Howard- Letcher Central
McGlone- Russell
Saunders- Shelby Valley
McNamee- Pike Central
Derossett- Prestonsburg
#5
I think Coach Fields from Bath county should get some credit. Even with the lost of 11 seniors(8 starters on both sides) he has managed to field a competitive team with a record of 4-3 and 3 winnable games left. Also, Nicholas counties coach, cant remember his name though.

Haywood-Belfry
McGlone-Russell
#7
Belfry is the best coached team every year...without a doubt.
#8
Saunders- Shelby Valley best coach I've seen in a while, also CoachB and ER is improving a lot as each week goes by. Just had to throw that in there.
#9
Phillip Haywood, Shawn Hager (nobody mentioned him yet), Ivan McGlone, and a few others.
#10
Coach McNamee from Pike Central!!! yay Coach Mac!! love u <3
#11
Shawn Hager

I LIKE HAYWOOD (BELFRY) AND MCNAMEE (PIKE CENTRAL) but i really think Hager at Sheldon Clark has done a great job this year.
#13
Where's all the JC fans at ? This question was asked last year and they was puting Matney up thier with the likes of Haywood and Hilton. I haven't seen his name on this thread yet.
#14
South Floyd- Donnie Daniels, got a lot of respect for him, great coach
Belfry- Phillip Haywood
Johnson Central- Matney
Sheldon Clark- Hager
Shelby Valley- Saunders

I think you gotta put mcglone as your number 1, to graduate that many players, and lose that many starters and still be considered a contender, and a possible shot at 10-0 with mostly juniors and soph's.

I guess I'm the first JC fan to view this thread. Last year I listed (in no particular order) Matney, Haywood, McGlone, Hilton and I believe Derossett as some of the best Coaches in Eastern Kentucky, and I think that I'd have to go with the same list again. Eastern Kentucky is blessed to have several quality football coaches, IMO you could list the top dozen coaches and still not include everyone.

I totally agree that Coach Saunders is doing a great job, but please don't tell me that you are saying that Coach B is one of the best coaches! :thatsfunn I'd probably have to rank Haywood at the top of the list for me.

Hager- SC
Haywood- Belfry
Hilton- Bell Co.

The 3 great H's lol

haywood

Why would Matney be mentioned? He did lose a district game at home to a team that they where favored over, and his Eagles didn't play very well early in the Paintsville game. No offense to him, but his team hasn't been too impressive in the past couple of games.
#23
Certainly Haywood, but McGlone deserves a mention as well.
#24
Howard from LCC. I never would've thought in a million years that his team would be having the success they are right now. Cudo's to him and his team. The other coaches that have been mentioned such as Haywood, McGlone always have great teams so it shouldn't come as a suprise. I think with what Howard has done in such a short amount of time he has to get the nod.

I was just wondering why they wasn't hooping him up like last year . I personally didn't think he should be no were near the coaches mentioned I said last year untill he does something special he's just another decent coach . I feel in order to be in the upper rim of the coaching ranks you have to win the big game I don't know of any big games Matney has under his belt yet . But he is young enough and it seems like he's in a place now were he just might get that W if he's as good as every one says . As for me I say prove it and it's not just one big game it needs to be sevral big games like Mcglone and Haywood has done . Because just one big game then nothing else to follow it up with well that would remind me of TubbySmile

I completely agree.

I hope coach Hager will become a really good coach in the future, but you can't list him with the likes of Haywood, Howard or Hilton. These three guys have at least 6 state championships between them.

What do you consider the BIG GAME to be? Do they need to win 1 BIG GAME or more than 1 BIG GAME?

Why wouldn't he be mentioned, over the past 10 years his teams have gone 82-29 with 2 final four appearances, and two undefeated seasons. He also took a JC team that went 5-25 in the three years prior to his arrvial, and in a short three and half years Matney has coached JC to a 33-8 record.

What does lossing to Woodford Co. have to do with anything, can you name me a coach that has gone undefeated for his career? As far as the Paintsville game is concerned, Paintsville got the ball first and went 3 and out, then JC went 3 and out, Paintsville got the ball back and ran a couple of plays before throwing the 58 yard TD pass which happened with a little over 6 minutes left in the first qtr. JC then scored 7 TD's over the next 25 minutes of play, personally I don't consider that a slow start.
