Belfry 51 - Lawrence Co. 20
#1
Final

Not as close as the final looks. Lawrence scores 3 td's late in the fourth against Belfry's 2nd and 3rd team

Great win Belfry !!!

I really expected a better game

Win 294 for Haywood !!!

Belfry executed every play with the first string. The Dogs just didn't. LC's line was porous tonight. We typically had a 3 man pass rush and I think we sacked the QB as often as he threw the ball. Those linemen have to realize that when they don't have anyone on top of them that they need to fall back some and watch for someone losing their guy so they can assist.

On that note, Will, Phil, and Corey did a marvelous job on the DLine. I'm so proud of my skinny fat boys :*) Also, our DBs did quite well covering the recievers long enough for those sacks to occur.

Our OLine blocked better tonight than I've ever seen a line block. Even the Russell game last year wasn't as impressive as our OLine was tonight, and Russell's OLine last year was the best I'd seen at this level... until tonight.

I really like our new power running offense too Smile Opens up the few options we still run (Andrew carried it in twice IIRC).

With LC's 2nd and 3rd team?

LC kept their starters in until their final TD, they also proceeded to go for two point conversions with their starters vs. Belfry's JV kids...and to top it all off, Goldsmith called a timeout with under 30 second left before LC scored their final time....

What did LC's 2nd and 3rd team do aside from cheer on their starters against Belfry subs?

this game wasn't even fun to watch..

could have easily been 72-0 if the coaches wanted to get nasty with it.. Belfry 1st string only played til the first drive of the 3rd..

it was a long an boring game.. I really, honestly, thought Lawrence would have made a decent game out of it.. but they just have alot they need to work on..

Well LC final TD was scored by there Freshman QB with there JV offense. And LC called the time out to get the Younger kids in the game. And When Belfry wrought there JV in LC left there starters in and started sub the JV team in.

Don't try to dog on the dogs for leaving in their starters against our JV. You work on mistakes you've made in situations like that. In their defense, WE left our starters in when we had a 44-0 shutout going, so I can't hold it against them for leaving in theirs and working on improving. Their starters still do have a whole season to play, and they had a LOT of kinks Friday night that they needed to work on.

Good luck with the rest of the season Dogs!

Very good post and a very true one we left them in for just that reason I think . These kids need all the PT they can get to try and get it together before the district starts up. And I thought belfry show alot of class by pulling thier starters when they did because they could have named the score if they wanted. Good luck to belfry the rest of the season and I hope and I believe you will make it to the big dance once agian

Wasn't dogging the dawgs-just making a statement that I believe to be true. I support them as much or more than anyone and know they are capable of so much more than is being shown so far. I do believe things will continue to improve as the TEAM belives in itself.
