I'm thinking Corbin or Clay County. Darkhorse would be Pineville.

Cumberland had a legitimate shot at winning the region last year (had a lead on South Laurel with less than 4 minutes left in the game in the semifinals before falling) and have all but one of their top 7 players back, all that along with the addition of 6'4" 215 lb power forward Garfield Wilson I believe might make them one of the favorites to win it this year, wouldnt you say??

Cumberland would be my number 4 team. Don't think the coaches are experienced enough to get them to rupp. Don't think they could hang with the Coach P and Spurlock and Strange.

I guess you are not aware that their coaches did a pretty good job last year in the Regional tournament beating Spurlock's Clay Co team, and also did a pretty good job winning the 13th Region All A (a tournament Strange's Pineville team participated in also) and made a good showing in the State All A. I guess you also arent aware that these same coaches took Cumberland to the Final Four of the State AAU Tournament this past summer (a tournament Clay and Pineville were both ln and lost in the round of 16) without 2 of their top 6 players. Their coaching staff has gained tremendous experience over the last couple years and proven to be very capable of taking Cumberland on a long and prosperous journey. Do a litle research pal, before you go making ignorant comments. Cumberland and Corbin will be the 2 best teams in the 13th and also 2 of the top 4 or 5 teams in the mountains and Coach P doesnt exactly have a ton of experience, he has only been coaching for a few years and is very young in coaching.

IMO thats where the difference maker is, (Coaching). Cumberland will be a decent team but, right now I think they are overated. They don't have a bench and they did not shoot the ball very well. And you need to be able to do those things if you want to get to the State Tourny. I seen them play at Corbin and one of my friends play for Middlesboro, they did not play hard and quit at Corbin, and did the same at Mboro. Plus Corbin kicked their tails.

Plus Corbin kicked their tails. It seems odd that you saw them play corbin on a Saturday night, at Corbin the night after playing a hard fought battle with Bell County. A game in which Cumberland lead at halftime, then ran out of gas in the 2nd half, but definitely never quit and the Middlesboro game at Middlesboro, one of their worst showings of the year clearly during a 3 or 4 game slump they experienced shortly after the All A State Tourney and you seem to base your opinion narrow mindedly without giving credit for the games you saw in which they had their A game, such as the Clay Co and South Laurel games in the Regional tournament. You also dont seem to have enough wisdom to review the entire body of work of Cumberland during the 06/07 season and their accomplishments (13th Region All A Champs, quarter finalists in the All A State losing to Hazard by one point, 13th Region semifinalist, narrowly losing to Sl after leading late in the game and 21 total wins) but you choose for some reason to dwell on 2 of their worst outings of the year. In additon to everything else, you obviosly dont seem to have a clue what they accomplished this past summer (won 20 games and made it to the final 4 of the Ky AAU State tournament) with wins over Tates Creek and Franklin Simpson along the way, not to mention a 57 point blow out of Knox Central at Harlan (with Josh Whitaker and Robert Warren playing for them) and a 14 point win over a top 25 Tennessee team (Knoxville Bearden) a team that beat Pineville by 25 that very same day at LMU team camp. Also, while doing all that this summer, their coaching staff did a fine job of developing 3 or 4 young kids that will make some noise this year. Bottom line is Cumberland's body of work speaks for itself and they will be one of the best teams in the mountains.

Are you trying to say that Coach Edwards from Cumberland is a better coach than Coach P or Coach Spurlock? Coach Strange? I don't think so. You may be right about this summer but all it is "summer". Corbin, Clay County are always in the top 5 year in a year out for a reason. Cumberland will be good, but top 3, I don't think so. Might not be the best team in their own district. By the way are you a Harlan man or a Cumberland man? lol

I am actually a Harlan County man that has seen what Cumberland is all about many times and you will understand what I am talking about in the upcoming months. Have a nice day

Did not mean to make you mad Harlan Man, just joking about the Cumberland Man comment. We just have a difference of opinion and that does not make me or my comment ignorant. Did not say anything personal about you or Cumberland or their coach. Just what I believe about coaching. And yes we will see, thats why they play the games.

if it came down to coaching alone then south would have it wrapped up, steve wright is hands down best coach, although south will be down alittle this year. cumberland and corbin are the best two teams in the region, spurlock has a weak team at claycounty.

Clay is young and Cumberland barely beat them in the region and they beat Cumberland in the regular season. We will find out how good coach Wright is this year without Ty, Jordan and Trey. I did not mean that coaches will win the game because, I know that players play the games.
