HAIL PIKEVILLE! Wrote:Valley wont beat P-Burg. I do believe theyll have theyre first home playoff game since '99 and only the second ever so thats a step in the right direction.
What did Valley do with that first round home playoff game against Leslie Co.? Oh yeah they lost it to the three seed in the other by a score of 40-18. So if I were Valley I wouldn't be to excited about a home playoff game just yet.
#32
yes that is true about the 99 team, but the way the play off system works now they will play either bath or morgan in the first round, so if they do claim the 2nd seed they will play a team the have beaten already

Lombardi Wrote:I really dont understand where you people are coming from saying shelby valley is goin to be awful and lose to pike central and east ridge. Valley lost 3 players that really contributed both ways. They return their three top running backs 3 starting lineman another that say considerable amounts of action. We had a player transfer in from tennessee during the season last year by the name of Chris Adkins who will go along side Lucas Simpkins and form by far the best recieving tandem in pike county, they get back the Quarterback who is fully recovered and plus the have other atheletes from within the school coming out to play. Valley may not have a good football tradition but they will have the best season the have had since 1999 when they were 9-2 and district runner-up. They will not lose to pike central in the pcb and will not lose to east ridge especially on the own field i predict they will finish will a record well above the 500 mark and win the district title and lay a foundation to build a good tradition at Valley after all they started out 4-1 last year and the had some devastating injuries to many key components.

last year the hawks only lost two players....
you tell me how pretty much the exact same two teams will play and come out with a different result...
valley only beat pc because of a bad snap...
and now you are sayin valley will dominate pc...
i guess well have to see come pike county bowl.....

GO HAWKS !!!!!

More Cowbell Wrote:Look, I'm not a Valley homer who thinks they're going to tear the world up this year. I see them finishing either 2nd or 3rd in district, depending on if they beat Bath County. However, I don't see how you can say they have a weak non-district schedule. Look at the list:
- Belfry
- Breathitt
- Knox Cent.
- Appalachia
- Pike Cent.
- East Ridge
- Knott Cent.

The top 4 teams are very solid, with Belfry and Breathitt being perennial powerhouses. Of the 3 weaker opponents, I think most would agree with Valley keeping games with PC and ER in order to preserve the county rivalries. So that leaves Knott as really the only weak team that they could've left off the schedule in favor of somebody stronger. In my opinion, the coaches actually scheduled a little too aggressively.

They have three tough games i will give them that but saying that Knox is a tough game is a little far fetch. Knox last season barely beat Perry Co. who we all know is a very weak and not so talented team. They have 5 games who are against sub par programs.

I think SV will go 5-5 or 6-4...I think they will beat either PC or ER but you never know with those teams...

Keep thinking that way about Knott Central. Thats the way we wont it.

Even if you say that they have 5 games against subpar programs (I assume you're meaning ER, PC, Knott, Bath, and Morgan), that's still 5 tough other games. Show me any team around here who doesn't have some easier games on their schedule. You won't find one. Again, I don't think anyone would want Valley to drop East Ridge and Pike Central from the schedule, so tell me where they should've scheduled tougher, other than the game with Knott. I still say they made the non-district schedule too challenging.

Trinity would beat Richlands by 35 points, .....EASILY.
ComeFlyWithMe Wrote:Richlands also won their past 2 state championships, I bet they'd come in and give Trinity a run for their money. You're talking Virginia football with Richlands, not WV football, Richlands is the real deal.

Trinity would kill Richlands. Private versus public. Common no contest Trinity would prevail.
#40
LOL, have you all seen Richlands? Trinity would def. not kill them.
#41
Well, Richlands beat Grundy last year 48-6...I watched the semifinal game between Richlands and Hidden Valley last year at Hidden Valley and they beat them 44-14. Richlands is a great team but I think they could keep up with Trinity but by all means not beat them...

Last years Richlands team would beat any 2A school public or private in W.Va or Ky.....I definitley aint a Richlands fan but the truth is the truth.....

If they advance to the 2nd round Saunders will be fired for cutting too deep into B-Ball season. LOL!

I believe this is the first time in history that two great programs like Trinity and Richlands are mentioned in a Shelby Valley football thread. LOL!

I'll take a wild guess and say neither of them have been mentioned in a Pikeville football thread either.

We have a winning tradition here. Maybe not of the magnitude of Trinity and Richlands but its more than Valley will ever have.

I wouldn't go as far as saying ever, you're pushing it there. You never know what will happen 10 years down the road.

Look dude Im not trying to insult anyone. You know as well as I do the powers that be up there will NEVER let that happen. I wish that wasnt the way it is but that is reality. B-Ball is king at Valley and thats the way it is.
#55
sv will do about the same this year as they did last year! they will beat teams like er,pcc and etc..... and will fall to the better teams. i think will close the gap on some of the better teams.
#56
you are right r-ball will always be the king of sv
#57
will do the same as last year!
#58
Basketball rules at Valley. Football never will. They will beat the teams that they are supposed to but when it comes down to beating the really good teams they don't have a shot. Sorry Valley.

lol all though the ball team went to state last year its not like they were gods in this area or something pikeville came close to beating the last 2 games and i look for pikeville to beat them this year at least once if not twice
