Top teams and players in the 13th
#1
Who are the top teams and players in the 13th
#2
South Laurel - Jordan Bortnem, Matt Gilbet, Matt St. John.

Corbin - Josh Crawford

the rest of the 13th is a big drop off after this, cumberland is the best of the rest though.

cumberland almost beat south laurel last year in the regional tournament and south lost their only good players... cumberland and corbin will be the 2 best teams in the region next year and south will not even be the best of the rest... and cumberland has four solid players... center desmond johnson, point guard brock leisge, forward brooks houge and a new edition to the team garfield wilson
#4
corbin will be the best team. but south will be able to handle cumberland, other than johnson they are undersized. the cards were more concerned with corbin than cumberland going into the game is the only reason it was close, surely you dont think cumberland was even close to the same talent level as south do you? you guys barely did get by clay county in the first round. haha. to say south is the best of the rest? other than corbin and maybe cumberland there isnt another 13th region team within 20 of south.
#5
Don't underestimate that redskin team, I seen that game against south and it was no fluke. The best talent is not always the best team. South just had to much size not talent. I think there is about 5 teams that can get to the sweet 16 from the 13th region next season.

hey SLHS card i dont have the time or desire to discuss basketball with someone who knows nothing about it... but we will see who the best teams are next season and goodluck to southRolleyes

i know that desmond johnson is the only player on the team with true talent, theres another kid that played guard who was a somewhat decent shooter. and i havent seen the garfield guy who transferred in. transfers definately will boost a team, we know all about it over here in london. lol. but good luck next year redskins. it will come down to cumberland corbin and SL they are the best teams in the region. then you will have to take into account where josh whitaker will end up going if coach whitaker accepts another job in the 13th, he could come in and make an impact immediately.

who do you see other than cumberland, south and corbin?
the region looks pretty weak when you get past those three, but some teams that could be dangerous are pineville if day continues to improve. and knox central could make a run as well with cody miller.

Corbin will be the favorite as much as i hate to admit it, with the guys like josh crawford and madison johnson who have played and gained alot of experience already they could win the 13th for a few years to come.

knox central, jackson county, pineville and clay county. Middlesboro will be a dangerous team. The region will be a lot more competitive with the top 10 teams.
#10
Cumberland will be one of top teams in the 13th. Last season they gained a lot of experience on how to win.........If they work very hard this summer and everyone return focus on team success......Rupp is where they will be in March.Top players Desmond Johnson, Garfield Wilson, and Brock Leisge.

South Laurel will be a favorite due to there size and experience........Top player Matt St. John

Bell County

jackson county have always been great underachievers under coach hayes, and i dont see clay county competing for a region title until they can get a legit big man. but i would agree with knox and pineville. ive been impressed with pineville since they went in and beat clay by 30 on their home floor last year.
#13
I think that the kid from Knox Central is going to be a D1 player if he works hard.
#14
this is how i would rank our region next year

1.) corbin
2.) cumberland
3.) pineville
4.) clay
5.) jackson county
6.) knox central
7.) south laurel
8.) middlesborro ( with josh whitaker)
9.) barbourville
10.) north laurel

Can't believe you put Knox Central so low. Middlesboro with Josh Whitaker has to be a top 5 team.

well i think 3-8 could go in just about any order... i just think corbin and cumberland are the definate 1 and 2

Wherever Josh W. and the Warren kid go, that team will be 1,2, or 3.

There is a good chance these two will stay right at Bell county, but even if they go somewhere else there is no guarantee they will fit right in with the current players, not to mention the fact they might not be able to get eligible wherever they try to go. There is no guarantee that these two will instantly make a team they join a top 3 team in the 13th Region
#19
that's true, but when you have a point guard like Josh W. you have a chance when you surround him with decent players. I could see where eligibility would be a problem, and Bell will be tough if they stay there.
#20
how about antwan from middlesboro

You hit the nail right on the head.

Cumberland and Corbin are the top 2 teams in no particular order IMO.The next fleet of teams is a toss up.

Yea Cumberland trounced them today when they played with Knox Central by a final score of 101-44.
#24
is that a confirmed score, I just find that hard to believe. Did Cody Miller play? That's alot of points from Cumberland, I thought they were a slow down team.

Yes.I was at the game and Cody Miller along with Josh Whitaker and Robert Waren played.Cumberland is pushing the ball a lot this summer.
#26
Who played the best individually? How did Miller play?

If your talking about Knox Central I couldn't tell you.Miller couldn't do anything against Johnson.
#28
I'd put Cumberland at #1.
