UMinn Denies Tubby An Assistant

Tubby Smith has been told that he canât hire Jimmy Williams as an assistant coach. Williams, who resigned his job at Oklahoma State a couple of weeks back to join Tubby at Minnesota, was an assistant in the early â70s when UMinn was penalized by the NCAA for numerous violations. We suspect David Hobbs is somewhere waiting for his phone to ring.

That's funny. Tubby left because he didn't want to be bossed by Barnhart and told how to run his program. Where's the love in Minnesota now? I don't blame the administration for doing this. It would be an image problem.

This is good news for UK IMO. We still have a 3rd assistant spot open. Jimmy Williams would be a phenomenal hire.

We dont need anyone that has connections with Tubby Smith. It took is 10 yrs to get rid of Tubby and we dont need to bring in anyone affiliated with him. I dont care how great he is.
