UK Coaching Position Has Been Filled?
#1
Parker Executive Search is the search firm UK was using to assist in finding a new head coach. Today on the Parker Search website the job was removed from openings in the Collegiate Athletics page. Is this an indication that the position has been filled and we don't know about it yet?

From the Jackson Sun... http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...006/SPORTS

Are you interested, Billy? Are you interested in Kentucky? "I don't know," he said. "I really don't know." Urban Meyer was asked during halftime of Monday night's national championship game what he thought of the prospect that if Donovan stays at Florida, he'll be paid more than the football coach, more than him. "No comment," said Meyer.

From the Palm Beach Post... http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/cont...html?imw=Y

In the first of two morning interviews - one at a podium and another amid a swarm of reporters - Donovan said he intends to remain the Gators' coach. But several minutes later he admitted he has a "feeling in my heart that's very strong" about Kentucky. Donovan said it is possible his agent has spoken with Kentucky officials, but, "I haven't heard about it," said Donovan.

I truly think if he goes to the NBA he will turn out to be another Ricky P. and not be very successful in the NBA and be back in the College Ranks very soon.

I just hope if its not Billy D that it is someone that is going to be very successful in getting recruits and playing our style of basketball.

Jammin jamie do you feel he is coming to KY?

I've said it from day 1 that I think Donovan entertains the UK offer, looks at Florida for a counter offer following the tournament, and makes the decision to come to Kentucky.

Why stay in Florida? Yes he's built the program from the swamp to the top, yet he'll never be the main focus because of football.

One thing to consider though is this and I don't think anyone has really mentioned this: Is Donovan more comfortable being 2nd fiddle in Florida with less pressure? Does he excell better in that situation than say at Kentucky, where if he won back-to-back titles, mothers would name their children after him.

If he shuns UK, I'll be surprised but not shocked. If he goes to the NBA, I'll really be floored, considering how Calapari and Pitino did there.

WKYT confirmed that he was being offered over $5 million by Memphis, but that no one expects him to even consider that job.

Calm down folks...just sit back, relax, and watch the events unfold in front of you. This Parker search thing, dont put too much stock into that. These crazy rumors about people tracking airplanes and whatnot, dont worry bout that. This NBA stuff with the Grizz and the Heat, dont worry about that. Just watch and listen to what Mr. Donovan has to say. We'll know soon enough...

Done deal, essentially. $450K per year and a larger travel budget.

MY Z part of WSAZ will cover Billy D's press conference at 4pm today.

WLEX, Action news 36, WKYT, WYMT all have said they'll be there and possibly also provide live coverage of the press conference.
#28
What exactly is this press conference about?

I would think about the dinner tonight and to give the local media a chance to ask about the title, but I'm sure the UK job will come up.Smile
