All 3 contributed but they will have players of the same caliber replacing their playing time next year.

I think it will come down to Shelby Valley and Pikeville in the regional finals again, no matter where the regions would be held.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

I honestly don't see how you couldn't have Jacob Bryant in the top 10, he is what holds Shelby Valley's team together, and Daniel Harmon is definitely not #3, and after back-to-back first round exits in the 15th tournament, Paintsville is not deserving of 3 top 10 players.

Looks good, but I would replace Logan with Jake bryant from Valley. I wouldnt say he is what "holds Valley together" but he's a good player that puts up numbers consistantly.

I think Paintsville deserves those spots, because they are good players. The TEAM lost. These players just cant play as a TEAM. You may argue that thats what a good player is, one that can play well with a team, but no one really specified. I think they derve the spots they have regardless of how their team fairs.

I dont like listing players in the region. Someone always gets left out. For example, all the players listed so far are very good players. But no one has mentioned one of the best player in the 15th regional tourney this year. One of the very few players on any team that was in the top of scoring, rebounding, assist, and steals. In my opinion, he is one of the very few that I have as having the best tourney on any team. That is Jordan Bell. He played twice his size for the whole tourney. I think he should be mentioned somewhere in someones list, but then you have the problem of who you are going to take out to make room for him.
Call me crazy on this one too, but I still think Paintsville will be number 3 or lower. At least this year we shouldnt hear how they are young. I bet we will be hearing alot about the pressure they are going to be under though. What was supposed to be one of the best Paintsville teams ever to not even winning a region in 4 years if they keep their track record in tact.

I think just Van Fergeson, (sp?), is the only one Paintsville will lose this coming year.

Paintsville deserves their 3. They have the top player in the region in Landon Slone. And I personally believe JD is easily top 5. I don't see how Valley can get so many in there. If they have about 4 or so players in the top 10 in the region then why could they not beat Elliot?

This is 15th Region Top 10 players. Not 15th and 16th Region players. They have that many in the top 10 because they went undefeated in the 15th Region and return the same team as this past season.
It's easy to see how SV can get so many players in the top 10 when they are so dominant in THIS region.

I don't see much difference from the 15th and 16th. And considering Paintsville did beat Elliot...

You're missing the point. What have Paintsville's players done to establish themselves as top players in this region? They have nothing to show for it if they are indeed all top players.
How did Shelby Valley not lose a game in the 15th this season if they don't have any top players in the region?
How could a team that goes undefeated in the region and 29-4 on the season not deserve to have more top rated players in the 15th than any other team?
Either way, it won't matter. Most people didn't have one single SV player on their preseason top 10 rankings of players this past season and look how good that worked out for them.

Getting back on topic ...the outlook for 07-08..... I think you are right....more than likely
it will be SV and Pikeville.....they both have some great young talent that will be returning.

Landon Slone has been the best player in the region year in and year out since he was a freshman. Paintsville has been a bust and choked come tourney time. I agree SV dominated the region this year and every other year. Shelby Valley has A LOT of good players and they all play great team ball. IMO they have no dominant player that can just take over at anytime like Paintsville does. I agree SV was the best TEAM not neccessarily mean that they have the best players. They are balanced and anyone of them can score 20+ points every night. That is the only thing I have against SV, them not having a dominant scorer.
03-26-2007, 11:14 PM
I see Shelby Valley winning again. The only problem is there doesn't appear to be a strong leader on the floor. They have great talent, are young, and play well together. Don't see Pikeville winning, the boys don't play team ball, no matter how much they improve. A few pieces missing on the SV team that will get them past the first round of state.

I disagree, I think Elisha Justice is an excellent floor general.
I do agree that SV does not have that classic superstar player that can carry the team on his back, a la Todd May, Hef Conley, J.R. VanHoose, etc. This could be a major problem in a close game with a strong team.

Hatfield will fill that role next year if he move to the 3, IMHO.
I think SV is 2 things away from winning games at Rupp and beating TOP teams from Lexington and Louisville. One is a 6'3"-6'6" bruiser, and I think that will come. The other, I think everyone here knows that one.

He does have a lot of potential, but he needs to stay out of foul trouble.
Incidentally, what was the second thing you were talking about that they need? The first thing that popped into my head was at least one ref with 2 functioning eyes.

Funny
I'll put it like this -
If this team doesn't beat some top 25 teams the next 3 years, as well as win at least 3 games in the state tourney(barring transfers, catastrophic injuries, and horrible draws) then something is horribly wrong, so I'll let you guys figure that one out on your own.
