Tubby needs to leave
#1
This man is a great coach and deserves better than what he is getting at UK. I would hate to see this man leave, but it would be a fantastic career decision for him. Then he could go somewhere were fans dont act like they have to win the National Championship every year, and they would treat him much better. Everyone knows what a great coach he is, that is everyone except the UK fans. So please Tubby just go somewhere else and get away from here because you dont need this criticism.
#2
well when youcoach at UK you have to be able to do a little better then 2nd round of the ncaa. c'mon man do u watch kentucky, do u really watch em. kentucky is the greatest program in ncaa history and you think its ok for somebody to come in and have 5 10+ loss seasons and choke every year in the tournament. different players come and go every year and the song remains the same, tubby can not coach at UK. the guy is justnot cut out for it and he needs to leave.
#3
No one is asking Tubbby to win the championship every year, we would just like to see them make it farther than the second round of the tournament and to get back to contending in the SEC. We arent stupid enough to think that they can win it every year but this 10 loss, early tournament exiting stuff has got to end.

Hey, 14thregionallstate, do you not sense the
direction of the UK program? OTS is NOT
bringing in the kind of talent that it takes
to be an elite program. Tennessee is. Florida
is. Kansas is. North Carolina is. UCLA is.
Four of Tennessee's top eight are freshmen.

Three McDonalds All Americans in the junior class. IF ( and it was close) Hansbrough and Wright had committed UK would be a number one seed. I don't like the if game either but since it is played in a negative way so much on hear I will do it.

Recruiting is a fine line. Two near misses can deplete a roster. Does Tubby need some recruiting success now? Yes. Has it been a complete disaster? No. The sky is not falling Chicken little.

Tubby should leave on his own accord. Giving the number one sign on his way out of town. It would serve some of the UK faithful right to have to suffer through that rebuilding process should it happen.

i understand that and coach k is the greatest coach in college basketball......he could ahve 5 loss season and he will still be there....What has tubby done????? he has 5 sec titles, 1 nation title, overall record 241-71.... and had 6 sweet 16 finishes in 8 seasons...this guy is a good coach get over it!!!!!!

You aren't old enough to remember what shape Sutton had the program in. That was a complete rebuild. This is a down cycle in recruiting. If Tubby leaves it will be a rough road for alot of UK fans. And one they probably deserve to bounce down.
#12
I can answer that Bizmark. NOT A THING!!!!! Ok, so he won a championship and and some SEC titles and so on and so forth. That was in his early years here at UK. Need I remind you people that the players on that championship team were recruited by Pitino, all Tubby did was sit back and watch them play and win. Thats it. He hasnt done a lot since then. Besides lose 10+ games in 5 of those years. The only thing that kept him from being worse is he got lucky in finding Prince, Hayes and a few others. Open your eyes UK fans, the program is on a downward spiral with Tubby guiding the way.

sutton? they were on probation man what do u expect?

bizmark Wrote:sutton? they were on probation man what do u expect?
Who do you think got them put on probation?

Sutton took over after another coach (Joe B. Hall) who the UK faithful never accepted had finally had enough and called it quits.

sutton

Yep.

i uderstand that but i think that we just need some new blood in kentucky. players obviously cant play his style of ball and it aint workin. everybody knows where i stand on this now so im done. you wont see me post on another tubby smith thread

Kentucky may get new blood. I'm am suprised Tubby has lasted this long. Many never wanted him in the first place. I think he is a good coach and can recruit. With that said there have been some mistakes made but that happens everywhere.

If people have a problem with certain things that Tubby does I don't have a problem with it. If you want to say the "ball line defense" really hurt against Kasas, Florida and Vandy because it is hard to close out on the shooters then fine. I can understand that. But I cannot stand the people that have always hated Tubby just because he was not Pitino. Or because of the color of his skin. There are alot of both out there.

For all it's worth. Why did Tubby win the National Championship with Pitinos players, when Pitino didn't win it with them the year before.

I agree totally with FBALL.
I have said before. But before this year I have been the only one amongst most people I watch UK with that didn't criticise Tubby.
I'll go on record now and just say, I just want UK to get back to winning. How bout a SEC Reg Season title or a SEC Tourney title. Maybe even a Sweet 16 win in the NCAA. I could care less about Rankings RPI or tournament seeding.
(UK hasn't cut a net down in so long they couldn't find a pair of scissors. )
Like the ole sayin' goes, "Just Win Baby". But most importantly, when it counts.
UK has lots of talent but they are young. I say if Tubby can figure out what the problems are and solve them, they can win when it counts.

I also agree with Bizmark a little. If Tubby can't get kids to produce trophies anymore because of his style of play we gotta have new blood.

I loved Joe B Hall, respected Eddie Sutton, Heralded Pitino and Admired Coach Smith.

Anyway's...
Go Big BLUE!! C----A----T----S CATS CATS CATS! FIGHT LIKE HE!!!!!!!!!

Ok so lets say that Tubby leaves....Who are we going to get? I dont see Coach K leaving Duke, Izzo leaving Michigan State, Donovan leaving FLorida, Williams leaving UNC..etc....Tubby has won at every school he has coached...Dean Smith has only won 2 NCAA championships at UNC....and they were 19 years apart....Do you think that UNC even considered firing him? I think not...UK's fans are ignorant when it comes to the history of college basketball...I love UK basketball with all of my heart and people like you are ruining the great name and tradition that is UK basketball...Everybody is on Pitino's still....Do you not remember that he sold out for the big dollars of the NBA...I have the answer...We should hire John Wodden...He might be pushing the century mark but he is the best coach alive....

You're not saying that was Pitinos team, are you?
Pitino lost three of his starters that he couldn't win the National Championship with the year before.

Thats a very good point GORN. SportsFan you really need to start watching UK basketball and actually keep up with it before you get on here and talk about them.

The rumor going around is that Rigot and Hansen are both on their way out. Hobbs may leave because of health issues, or could possible move to another position on the team. Some rumors are even stating that Scott Padgett and Derek Anderson are being considered for positions on the staff. ( I hope this doesn't happen, but they could be great for recruiting) IMO Rigot and Hansen are gone for sure. I would guess that Hobbs will stay unless he decides to step down, Tubby and Hobbs are to close, I don't think Tubby would agree with Hobbs being forced out.

I've heard from numerous people today that Tubby is gone within the next week and that Billy Gillespie is in! Also, that Tubby is going to Michigan.
