i think that danile harmon is an spectacular runner back.the kid plays for pikeville and he is almost impossible to bring down in open feild.
03-17-2007, 01:58 PM
Shawn Grim-Johnson Central....Hard to bring down, and if you can't catch him he's already in the endzone!

Both the Honakers and Daniel Harmon are excellent running backs. Harmon should deffinatley be on everyone's top 3 or 5 best running back in the mountains list

Roshkopf from Lynn Camp
Christopher from Bell Co.

I've Seen Dustin May in 2 State Semi-Final games and I have to say, I am not at all impressed with him at all. Good size, but for me, that's where it ended.
Dials I haven't seen.

I know he want be the best next year but, Kenny Craft from KCC will be a great back in a couple of years.

Dustin May of Belfry.

He was a decent straight up power runner but that is all I saw of him. No cutting ability. If he couldn't plow you over he was done.

Kelly and Dials from SC

Who are these guys? Grimm had over 2500 yards rushing, how can you even say someone else is better? Show me some stats.
03-20-2007, 02:43 PM
Roshkopf had over 2000 yds. too. But Roshkopf didn't have any help at all. Put this cat on Johnson Centrals team and he betters even those numbers.

I think may is better than some give him credit for. He is a Fullback with good speed and very strong. He is not flashy but is a workhorse. Midee, the games you saw him in he was being hit as soon as he was taking the handoff. Not many backs would have had a chance against that defense.
The best RB in the mountains would be Grimm IMO.

Dustin May, Michael Campbell, Adam Dials, Joe Roshkoph, Daniel Harmon, Greg Adams, Ryan Miller, but by far I would say Shawn Grimm....this is only my opinion. Good luck to all these boys next season...

The only good teams JC played last year was Ashland, Covington Catholic and Bell County. No offense to Ashland or Bell County, but I think some of the teams that the players I named play for, could give them a run for their money if not beat them. JC was good, but I think they had a weak schedule, Grimm is good, but without the line he has blocking for him, he wouldn't have done near as well, he has awesome brake away speed, but not alot of moves where as some of the players I named have both.

Best RB in the Mountains is Matt Thomas of Ashland. If you havn't seen him maybe you should. He can flat out fly. Built like Dustin May but much more faster and has more agility. To name a few more:
Shawn Grim- Johnson Central
Daniel Harmon- Pikeville
Dustin May- Belfry
Micheal Campbell- Hazard
Adam Dials- Sheldon Clark

Come on, Pikeville would have lost to all of those teams...

I think JC's other opponents would maybe argue that point.
South Point went on to finish the season 6-4, winning their conference and defeating a traditional southern Ohio power, Wheelersburg. If I remember correctly, the same Paintsville team that JC was up on 48-0 in the first half, gave P-ville a little game. Boyd County was a playoff team. N. Laurel showed promise during the season, I beleive finished with 3 or 4 wins.
As for the statement about Grimm. You could say that about any back. Without the horses up front, nobody is going to make their own holes.......NOBODY!
03-22-2007, 04:09 PM
I've seen all of them play, with the exception of Roskoph, and Daniel Harmon is the best with Shawn Grimm being a close second.
That is an honest, unbiased opinion, too.

Guess what Panther#42, if he didn't have the line, I think he wouldn't have many yards at all. That was a smart statement!

yeah, he may not have a lot of moves, and his line is a key to his success, but all of that DOES NOT matter.....he IS STILL THEE BEST RUNNING BACK IN THE MOUNTAINS. HANDS DOWN
With May from Belfry a close 2nd.

There is a kid named Brock that has moved to runningback for LCC that is gonna be TOUGH. He is the sleeper of the entire mountain region

Thomas isn't a mountain back. Although he plays in the mountains sometimes against Sheldon Clark, Johnson Central and Belfry. Ashland is considered Northeastern Ky along with Russell, Boyd, Greenup, Fairview and Raceland.

Matt Thomas is nowhere near as strong as May. He does not like contact and is not even close to being considered a power runner. He is fast though and if he gets a step watch out.
Gotta agree with DevilsWin. Ashland is not considered a "mountain" school.
