"Recruiting isn't Tubby's fault"
#1
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, look here:
http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=1611

The highest ranked player that's committed to Kentucky is AJ Stewart, and he's ranked 138th. He's a joke, he needs to be gone. There's only two other Kentucky prospects even worth mentioning, and they're nowhere near the top 150 players in the nation.

Tubby loves to recruit 'projects'. He hates those superstars that only want to stay a year or two. Imagine where UNC and Florida would be if they only recruited 'projects'? Anyone who expects the talent level at UK under Tubby to pick up is only kidding themselves. It ain't going to happen.
#3
Mike Williams is ranked 96th on ESPN.com's top recruits.
Stewart plays in a guard oriented system, and will be a great player. Keep beating this dead horse into the ground.

Mike Williams is a beast I know that, I was on scout.com and was reading about him, hopefully he can be a great asset to UK.

One good recruit, and I suppose he'll save UK basketball and make up for the past years of garbage recruiting and be able to run the table by himself?? I suppose you're rightRolleyes He's destroyed UK basketball and killed the pride that we all had for UK basketball.

The last I heard, Mike Williams wasn't even playing for his high school team anymore. Is this still the case?

Same here, bizmark. I'm not a Tubby Smith, personally, but I still bleed blue. No matter how many 10-loss seasons they have, or the number of years between Final Four appearances, I'm still gonna support the Cats whole heartedly.

Funny...I didn't realize that expecting UK to be a
program of consistent excellence, with a shot of
Final Foul most every year had anything to do with
not supporting the 'Cats wholeheartedly. I thought
that people who cared most about the program cared
enough to not say, "UK, wrong or right"...but would
rather point out obvious weak spots and demand
improvement.

Its funny, People gets mad at tubby for recruting one of the top 150 recruits in America but yet they want him to recuit 3 star recruits that noone has heard about?
#12
well look at the superstars he has recruited rondo and randolph none of them care about uk basketball they are just in college waitin to go to the pros .......people like Chuck Hayes, Tayshaun Prince, Keith Bogans, Gerald Fitch they wanted to play at UK
#13
Bottom line is.....you have to have talent to win. We can sit here and spin it 'till the cows come home, but if you don't have the horses, you won't finish the race. I like Tubby as a coach, but Steve Wonder could see theres something wrong with the recruiting here folks.

Correctioin. Chuck Hayes is on record as saying he wanted to play for UCLA but they wouldn't recruit him. Kentucky was his second choice.

we know the weak spots. the whole nation knows the weak spots. but no matter what i will always support uk. no matter how hard it is to watch them go out in the 2nd ound of the tourney 2 of the las 3 years and that could possibly become 3 of 4. i will always have pride in uk basketball and always be a fan no matter how bad theyre suckin it up. i also think it will get turned around soon.

Recruits have finally realized that Tubby plays half court slow down ball. Kids these days want to run and gun. Chris Lofton would be average at best for the Big Blue. The first time he would have shot a three with 2 guys all over him, Tubby would have burried him on the bench. I am True Blue through and through but Tubby has drove me crazy. When will people realize that he is just not good for the program. Tubby is clueless, he is still playing ball line defense. That defense was put to rest when the three point line went into effect. No one who knows anything about basketball can truely feel Tubby deserves to keep his job. Although if he does stay another year or so he will continue to break records, just not the kind of records you want to be a part of.
#17
Brandon Wright stated the reason he chose UNC over Kentucky was the fact that they ran up and down the court and Tubby played a slow paced game. Tubby's style is unappealing to the high school star today and Tubby will die before he changes his style. If you're going to be a UK fan under Tubby Smith, get used to getting mediocre recruits.
#18
Good point first time caller, I just cant understand why everybody is defending him so much. We will continue to get mediocre recruits and the sad part is, they will be out of state kids. We have better players in eastern ky, than some of these kids he is bringing in.
#19
Can you please name me some Tubby hater?
#20
who are the mediocre recruits? this years freshmen were dynomite. and chris loftons class had 3 mcdonalds all americans, tubby just dont know how to coach them

That is a completely false statement.

You must be what my father calls a Kentucky critic instead of UK fan. If that's all it took for your UK pride to go away, then you weren't much of a fan to begin with. I bleed blue, I don't care if they win 1 game. I'm still right there screaming for them and while I do have opinions on what they should do, my UK pride can not be killed by player, coach, or anything else. I'm a UK fan, not a UK critic!!! Try it sometime.

I don't know about that. I don't think there are any kids in eastern Ky that are Kentucky material nor are any better than the recruits of Tubby. I know what your trying to say but your exaggerating just a wheeeee bit, don't ya think.

I always was a UK fan, and even in the tourney, I'll still be yelling "C A T S CATS CATS CATS!!" but the man's destroyed UK basketball. We had an elite program, tops in the nation, not many programs could be compared on the same level, but now the program's garbage

that's the kind of people he needs to recruit.. the people who wanted to come to Uk, but he said would never make it at that level.. and i'm not even goin to mention names.. and the way the college game is goin, a college star isn't goin to stay in college if they get pro offers. so why not take a chance on someone who will probably leave in two years, but wants to come to uk?? couldn't be worse than whats goin on now
I'm in love with Tawnya.. hehe..

What is so sad these days is the so called superstars coming out of High School are looking for the instant pay day. The only superstars that go to college are the ones their families dont struggle to make ends meet. I also think the ones that want to make the jump dont have the real passion for basket ball. If they did they would go to college and enjoy the rich tradition that the college have to offer around the country. But thats just the way I see it through my BLUE tinted glasses I wear.

Absolutely true statement by Brandon Wright..quoted immediately after the unc/UK game in an interview. If you want an exact quote, I can easily provide.

The recruits I was referring to that are weaker than eastern ky players are guys like Adam Williams, Woo, Shagari, and this big foreign project kid Tubby has coming in next year. You gotta admit this year was probably one of the weakest Senior classes in school history, and look at next year. If Morris leaves we are screwed, because patterson is not coming. He is set to announce on April 3rd his college choice, and it just so happens Billy Donavon is scheduled to make an appearance at Marshall on the 2nd. So what does that tell you?

heard jai lucas is comin to uk. any truth?
