Powell/owsley Game In 56th District
#1
Anybody know the capacity for Owsley's gym? I
was wondering if the Owsley/Lee boys game last
night filled up? My guess is that the girls game
tonight, being a grudge match and all, will be
either at or close to capacity. Does anybody know
if the fire marshall had to close the doors last night
at the boys game?

Yeah THEY really got revenge on the Lady Owls.

-First of all I'm going to blame the ref's for not controling the game. All and all, they have the whistel and what they say goes. They didn't control either team last night or POWELL COUNTIES COACH!!!!!!!!!!!

-Second players from both teams got hurt. Kendra McFarland of Powell took a hard lick in the mouth or nose ( I couldn't really tell from where I was, I just seen blood). Kendra Combs of Owsley maybe broke her ankle (not really sure yet) from what looked like to be an intentional foul.

-I really can't say anything nice about Powell's coach because there isn't a doubt in my mine that he didn't tell his girls to get in there and get Kendra Combs or Jess Murrell out of the game. Well, they accomplished that with around 5 minutes left in the 3rd. I do know for a fact that he lost respect last night, but hey, stuff happens, right?Rolleyes Ya know, it pretty pitiful when a coach put his team up to take a player out.

-If it had come down to would wanted it more, Owsley would have eat Powell for supper. The Lady Owls were ready and wouldn't going to back down to anyone. They were determined for a win, and they are still winners in my heart.

I hope and pray to God that Estill stomps Powell because they deserve to win. Estill doesn't try to hurt anyone they just play 110% of hard basketball. I though I would never here these words come out of my mouth about any team but Powell dosen't deserve to win.

Congrats to the Lady Owls for a winning season, Comming runner-up in the All "A" 14th region, winning 1st place in the Whitker Bank Classic, and Making the MOUNTAIN TOP 10.
You all have went farther than only one could have asked. Once again CONGRTAULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:notworthy

Yes...congrats to Coach Bates and his girls...he does a good job with
his team, and his girls play hard. They had a very good season and
should be proud. The play upon which Kendra Combs got hurt did
indeed appear to be a "take her out of bounds" type foul...of course,
the official who should have been watching the shooter was following
the ball, thus, no call. Whehter or not it was "dirty" or intentional,
only the player knows.

If you want to know the truth about Kendra getting hurt, ask Owsley AD Jerry McIntosh...he had a perfect view of what happened.

Kendra Combs does not have a broke ankel but she has severly spinged it with torn ligiments and torn tendants. She has been on crutches sence the game Wednesday night and will be off it if for a few more days according to the doctors.

i was at the game whenever kendra combs hurt her ankle and had a perfect view. owsley county was behind at the time and she was attempting a 3. she pulled courtney jones from powell county on top of her trying to get a foul called. it was by far, not an intentional foul and was brought on by Combs herself. the ref, like many others, watched the ball instead of the actual players and didnt see Combs pull Jones on top of her. Unless you seen this actually happen, you dont need to make aqusations that it was intentional.

Not to be beatin' a dead horse here but, when Combs from Owsley went up with the shot, Jones from Powell hit her in her mid-section which caused her to be off balance, then Jones turned to seal. While this was in play, Combs came down and crilled her ankel and was trying to latch on to something and I guess she grabbed the first this that was around and it was Jones. When she did that her weight, just pretty much lifted Jones off the floor, and yes she was pulled down. As Combs went down, she hit the water-cooler and chairs with her head.

I really don't understand how you can say that Combs caused it herself. She was not trying to draw the foul by pulling her Jones down on top of her, she was trying not to fall.

-By the way, I also had a perfect view of what happened for were I was positioned!
