Paintsville's HORRIBLE Seating
#1
I was at the games last night and the seating in that gymnasium is a disgrace. To top the 400 people capacity of the gym paintsville's fan had come befor they started let people into the gym and had allready taken well im gonna say 25% of the seating in that cracker box it's crazy.
#2
But it's our craker box.......and the crakers aren't stale.

Yes, write your Congressman -- with the tradition and public promototion Paintsville's Basketball program has given EKY, PHS should have a much nicer gymnasium! Go Tigers!

Having the district or the All "A" Classic at Paintsville is ridiculous. Way too small to hold a large event. Nothing personal, just the place is too small and cramped. Paintsville deserves better facilities.

yea I agree

Its just not the seating but the parking. I couldnt even find a place to park with out walking a mile. And when you have a elderly person with you its even worse.

Well at least get some facts straight. The gym holds a lot more than 400.
There might have been 20 seats taken, Paintsville didn't have over 150 fans that were there for the first game. and most of them sat on the stage.

Buy us a bigger place, please.

[B]and when you think about how much sports coverage AND money and that JR. VANHOOSE alone brought to the "precious city" you would think they would have a nicer place huh?
oh well ...should move in county...LOL

Paintsville's gym is by far the oldest in the 57th District and more than likely the 15th Region that is still in use. They could expand the gym out toward 2nd street and have plenty of room for fans!! I say the city of Paintsville needs to invest in their school and improve this situation!!!

As a player, I loved playin in our gym when it was packed like that. It gets so loud in there and the atmosphere is just amazing. As a fan, I was a lil uncomfortable, but not too bad. Like I said in the girls forum, maybe the school should have a live feed of the championship game in the library and in Tiger Alley for the fans who don't get in like they did for the Rose Hill game my senior year.
#12
I'm thinking about coming down to watch that one....if I do, I know I'll have to get there early...don't want to battle the elements like I did last night.
#13
I agree redneck. As a player we love or loved lol that setting. As a fan it is a little upsetting. AllI can tell anyone going to watch a game is get there early and set near the top.
#14
It wasn't too bad tonight. Probably won't be bad the next two nights with mainly two teams fans there each night.

Well my goodness....if it's THAT horrible, why did you even bother coming to the games at all?Wink

^ Hahaha.

Paintsville gym does have very little seating room. I liked playing there myself but even the "bench" is a cracker box.

Ask some of your alumni, they seem to buy other things.

The seating is ridiculous!!! How would you like to drive and hour to watch your team, only to arrive at the gym and be told by the police that they are not letting any one in!!!
The school should have forseen this problem and had two sessions, the first session for the Magoffin county and SCHS game then cleared the gym and had the second session for the boys, its not that hard to figure out that the gym wont hold four teams fans!!

What else have they seemed to buy?

I'd like to know that too....probably just another rumor started by pure jealousy.

How did the All "A" Classic find itself in Paintsville? Wasn't it suppose to be at another location?
#24
Well i will have to agree that it is too small. But the atmosphere can't be beat anywhere. Dang it was really noisey tuesday night, and i expect the same tomorrow night.
#25
Don,t understand what u mean here. You trying to say they bought the all a tourney. Don't think happened. Not sure but seems u may have gotten some bad info.

Dare I even ASK what kind of bad information you have received?

the seating is bad but the gym is legendary
#28
Cry me a river. Do you really think it is fair for Paintsville to not host the tourny? This is what high school basketball is all about. Small gyms, huge rivals, everything on the line, win or go home, fans sweating as much as the players, if you want to complain about that you are not a fan of the game.
#29
The gym may be legendary but they do need a bigger gym, heck maybe put a better air conditioner in there. I remember when we was practicing to play Paintsville we had to turn the heat up to get use to it.
