powell has everything to be a 14th region champ and not many people on here are going to disagree with me...

Hazard

14th has alot of tough teams and it is really a toss-up. But I really like Hazard and the way they play, and I think they will represent the 14th at Rupp come March.

who placed their vote for knott? i mean really?
02-18-2007, 10:58 PM
hazard, jbs, perry and breathitt are the teams who should make some noise in this year's tourny

This region seems to be a 4 or 5 horse race that is up for grabs.

I agree this region is a 4 or 5 horse race and it could get to be even wilder by how the districts go. I don't see JBS winning the region because they would have to play HHS and PCC and more than likely back to back. I don't see any team beating 2 of the top 3 teams arguably in JBS, HHS, and PCC back to back. Regional draw will be a big factor into the whole thing too because if PCC plays HHS its only going to be for the title and JBS would have to play against one of them before. It's tought to pick a team in this region.

Ok Darkside everything that you said up there was crap. You dont make a whole lot of sense saying you are going to count Powell out of the district because of the way someone talks on here. To me, you sound like the young and immature one, not to mention ignorant about basketball, obviously. Regardless of peoples opinions, facts are facts and Powell is running a very close race with Hazard, PCC, JBS and Breathitt, and have remained in the top 5 or 6 in the region for the last couple of months. You can't say that they don't have a chance and if you do than you are freakin crazy. So why dont you just get over having to have the last word and take what you can't handle....THE TRUTH....

I have been following the 14th region this year quite a bit....I look to see many teams wanting to visit rupp out of this region including...jbs,hazard,pcc,powell,breathitt(has a easy schedule tho) and maybe even buckhorn....theyre also may be alot of upsets...you cant count out the smaller teams until u actually reach the region tourney....district comes first
02-20-2007, 01:43 AM
I fully agree with you 14thregionallstate!!!
02-20-2007, 01:48 AM
I'm not going to give any one the edge here just due to you have to reach the region first...to even win it...and thats wat upsets are for.... i look forward to some of these come district time

I thinks its down to Hazard & Perry Central.

Nice Post! This years regional tournament is going to come down to endurance and the luck of the draw. In a worst-case scenerio for some team you could have JBS, the loser between Hazard or Perry, and Powell or Breathitt all on one side of the bracket. I can't see a team like Breathitt going through 3 tough games like that. One of the 54th district teams should make it to the championship, this means whoever gets to the championship will probly have to beat Hazard and Perry...BTW the last 3 regional titles: PCC, PCC, HAZ...

Despite the fact they've beaten Hazard and JBS already, they're not good enough?

No, but to say PCC doesn't have a chance is absurd when they beat not one but two of the teams you mentioned would win it.
Most teams have a chance, and in PCC's change they have a very good one.

Everyone this is the difference between opinion and fact. Obviously you must be a Hazard fan or June Buchanan fan because to say that Perry Central is not in contention to win the 14th Region title is something a HHS or JBS fan would say. PCC does have a hard game against Buckhorn I believe but I don't see Buckhorn wearing the glass slipper. Hazard doesn't have an easy game themselves you know, Leslie County has one of the best guards in the region who is just overshadowed by Clark Stepp and Justin Hicks, both are good players too. Perry Central has beaten Hazard this year at Hazard and JBS at JBS. Please you got to give them some credit, they are a top tier team in a region thas weak as water. And on that note, the winner of the 14th gets to play Warren Central in the Sweet 16, have fun watching a slaughter of biblical proportions.

I think that it will come down to JBS, Hazard, or PCC. I also believe that Hazard will win and go to state like last year, and beat JBS again. Yes, PCC has beat hazard at hazard, but on an off nite for hazard and on a night with horrible refereeing. Im not making excuses with the referees, go back and check the Hazard PCC thread on here, and everyone agrees at how horrible the calls were. I cannot say the same for JBS, I believe that JBS had a rough couple weeks since All A, with a couple of bad losses against teams they shouldve beat. I dont think that PCC has a chance of beating hazard or JBS, but well have to see. JBS and Hazard have too many strong players for PCC to handle..........come on, hazard has beaten PCC 2/3 times theyve played by 8-15 points. But, newayz IMO PCC does not have a chance against JBS or Hazard, and I think that Hazard will take it to state.

It just depends on how the brackett comes out....never know these 3 teams may be put on the same side

Hazard suffered a big loss with Matt Williams going down with badly injured ankle. Probaly out rest of the season
