14 year Old Boy Accused of Killing School Bus Driver
#1
CUMBERLAND CITY, Tenn. — Joyce Gregory was about halfway through her morning school bus route when she stopped to pick up 14-year-old Jason Clinard. But police believe that instead of getting on the bus early Wednesday, Clinard fatally shot Gregory with a .45-caliber handgun, an act apparently prompted by an argument over Clinard's use of smokeless tobacco.

None of the 24 students on the bus, ranging in ages from 5 to 17, were hurt.

The shooting happened about 6:15 a.m. just outside Cumberland City, about 50 miles northwest of Nashville. Gregory, a 47-year-old married mother of two daughters, was picking up students and taking them to Dover Elementary and Stewart County High School.

Two weeks ago, Gregory told family members she was having trouble with students "dipping snuff" on the bus, according to her cousin, Jacqueline Reed. After several warnings, she reported them to school administrators Tuesday, Reed said. The 14-year-old suspect was among the students.

Two Words.....Tobacco Kills

As Bertrand Russel said, it must have taken ages for people to realize that a brace of pheasants and a couple of days are both instances of the number "two. "

this is terrible very sad and a tragedy
#8
This is awful and sad. The question now is, "Should he be tried as an adult?"
#9
Doesn't really matter with the new law that just passed last week that anyone under 18 can't get the death penalty. Terrible didn't take time to read the story but yesterday it was reporter that her kids were on the bus also.

I think really matter with the new law that just passed last week that anyone under 18 can not get the death penalty does really matter with the new law that just passed last week that anyone under 18 can not get the death penalty.

Yes I take the night off and stop posting.
#13
she should..lol..
#14
Did he think he could get away with it? What was going through his mind?
#15
I think he should be tried as an adult.. I think that anyone who committs murder no matter their age should get the death penalty..

Well, I dont think the gun makers should be blamed, nor the bus driver, or even the kid for that matter. I think the blame should also be on the parents of the kid for allowing him access to a handgun and for not teaching him better as he was growing up.

That is a good point. Everyone is always trying to blame someone or something else. However, it is the parents ultimate responsibility for the most part.

I've heard of it before.

He shouldnt have got caught chewing. Then he wouldnt be in juvy and the bus driver would still be alive.
#20
If you were him would you do that? Interesting deduction. I think I not be in juvy and the bus driver would still be alive.

Christ, Where are we? Los Angeles? Detroit?
#22
swag, anymore, we have the same problems here in the small towns that the big cities like detroit and new york have. we just dont have them in the volume that they do.
#23
Such a shame.......What is wrong with our kids ??????
#24
Well, i just wonder what made him kill the bus driver? This kid must have had mental problems. A bad Childhood couldve been another factor. This kid is chewing when he is 14 as well. The parents must not have taken good care of him. Probably didnt even care.
#25
Another factor to look at is the other kids on the bus. I hope they are givin counceling or other forms of help. It is a very bad experience to see a body, not to mention the fact that they most likely seen him get killed. Maybe those are the other victims of what happened that much isnt being talked about.

Very sad story, thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those involved. Where were the parents when the boy got the gun is the question I'm worndering. When I first heard this I was in complete disbelief, I was just in Cumberland City a few weeks ago.
#27
this is sad to know stuff like this happens all the time...something needs to be done about this to help control what is going on
my prayers go out for the family
#28
I dont think you can blame the parents on this one. If the kid wanted a gun bad enough, he could have got one anywhere. He is 14, I think that 14 year olds know its wrong to kill someone. This kid should be fried like an egg in the chair, IMO.
#29
I agree hawk.. even though he is a kid he should be eligible for the death penalty because the crime he committed was no less than one an adult would committ.. they family of the bus driver will suffer just as much and the kids who saw this happen will be affected forever as well
