AC looked sloppy in the first half while SF hit their 3's. AC regrouped and looked much improved in the 2nd half.
Nice Win for the Rebels. Good Luck at Betsy Layne.
GO AC!!!!!!!!!!!

south floyd is just to selfish....the 1st half they come out and played team ball and was up by 10 at half time..the 2nd half they come out thinkin there gonna win and just play all laid back and want to run there stats up..there season is gonna end early unless this changes...

This South Floyd team doesnt deserve to be wearing South Floyd jerseys. Give them some plain jersey's with just numbers on them and make them work for the honor of wearing those South Floyd Jerseys. They use to be so much pride and satisfaction in bein a South Floyd student and fan and know its a shame to see how bad everyone is beating them.

Big turnaround in the second half. Down by 10 and win by 17. Congrats AC.

Was at this game. AC made a very good defensive change at half time. IMO thats what changed the game. As bad as i hate to say this it was good coaching LOL. they went from full court in the first half to a half court 1-3-1, and totally had south floyd out of sink. Was kinda rough at the end, should have been atleast one ejection IMO . Congrats AC

IMO that is what makes Martin a good coach, he is not afraid to change when things don't work. I think the 2nd half D and SF jacking up bad shots held SF to only 9 points in the half. The rough end has become a signature for SF when they lose. But if the coach continues to allow this then it will never get better. I think SF had built a great program from 99-2004/05 but the last 2 years have tried to throw that tradition out the door.
02-10-2007, 02:59 PM
I agree. As much as i like Coach Hall he should have sit #10 out. Its a shame that #10 is that good of a player and has the attitude that he does. No decsent college coach would want the bagged he would bring.. IMO he has the potential to be a good small college player, but definetly needs to lose the tude. As far as Johnny being a good coach. everyone has the opinion and mine is never in his wildest dream can he ever be a good coach.
02-10-2007, 03:08 PM
I am in 100% agreement. I think Coach Hall is a great guy and mentor but has allowed a couple players the past 2 years destroy this team. IMO #10 had/has the potential to be one of the best in the 15th but his attitude is terrible. Being the only returning starter from last year he should be setting positive examples for the rest of his team but he is not doing that. He could have played at a small college but his attitude is throwing that away here in his senior season.

Probably the worst ball I had seen AC play all year in that 1st half, they couldnt do nothing right, they were fortunate to be down 11 points at half, it could have been alot worse. But yeah I agree what Martin done to change things around the 2nd half really worked and took SF out of the game and brought AC back in it. And on to the Ethan Johnson subject, great player, but his bad attitude takes that great player away from him, everyone in the gym knows that he has a short fuse and that was proven last night. That was the most emotion I had seen Josh Martin have, ever and if I was him, I would have done the same thing, IMO. But congrats to AC, had their ups and downs, but a wins a wins a win.
02-10-2007, 04:25 PM
Ohh yeah, and everyone on here who was at the game would have to admit the refs did make some pretty horrible calls, even Johnny Webb(worst in the 15th) who showed up late in the middle of the 1st quarter!

Well yeah cant ya blame him? When Martin came down for a rebound Johnson about clawed his face off! Thats what got Martin mad and all in Ethans grill.

A lot of harsh words and criticism for South Floyd in this thread. Some saying that those players don't deserve to wear SF jerseys? Come on. The young men playing on that team show up for practice, lay it on the floor, sometimes they come up short, but that's what it's all about.
I'm so sick of hearing about attitudes when it involves the Raiders. Everyone's heard everyone's opinion on the subject so please, if you have something else to say about the Raiders or an individual player, it's probably already been duely noted before you ever thought of it.
The whole Ethan situation with last night - clearly frustration on his part. Your team is up by 10+ points at one point, you find yourself trailing in the game and Ethan was just playing "hard basketball" to try to keep his team close. It's a lot to do about nothing. It's just scrappy basketball. IF anything, the official should've called Ethan over Martin's back the first time it happened in that sequence before letting it get out of hand.
I'm not defending Ethan's actions. But really, this is much to do about nothing.
As for the game itself, if South Floyd can put together an entire game like they played in the 2nd quarter, they would own a few more wins. Blow a lead to Sheldon Clark and allow the Cards to make a 14-0 run to end a game, then blow last night's lead. It all comes from the outside shot, if it's not hitting, their not in it plain and simple. The Raiders were 5-7 from the outside in the 2nd quarter and took a 10 point lead to the halftime mark. They made 1 outside shot the rest of the way and you see what happened.
Hopefully, the Raiders will find a different way to win besides firing 30 outside shots a game. Play a little defense...take the ball to the rack...stay aggressive and stop being selfish.
Congrats to Allen Central on another solid win, despite a sloppy effort early. This team is near the top of the region and I hope they stay "unselfish" and focused as the season draws to a close.

The tecnicals were deserved on both ends- fact is - if you have the ball and are attempting to clear with your elbows, it is an automatic "T", if one hand slips or there is attempt to hit the other player, as far as E.Johnson goes- it was frustration that kept him in the mix. The Raiders blew a 12 pt. lead, at one point they turned the ball over on 6 out of 7 possesssions, not any dazzling defensive plays, but simply throwing it away! My biggest questions are these, SF needs somebody that can get the ball up the floor, do they not have anyone on the bench that knows the difference between black/white jerseys or red/grey-whatever, and the other is why are some of those kids on the court, I wonder to myself if the coaching staff has given in to pressure from certain parents to allow their kids to play, its obvious from the sidelines that what is on the floor does not work, are the rest of those kids just fodder to fill in the bench? In a closing remark, this district this year is weaker than at any point in the past 50 years, it may be longer, but this was the best info I could research!

You are correct JJ, South Floyd need to finish and in order to do so it is plain that they need to put team first. Last night was another example of not getting to where they need to be. It is easy to lose the way they have this year and get into a mind frame that they expect to play poorly. Focus on winning and playing the game the way it should be. Respect for the game, fans, coaches and other players both on your team and also the opposing players. South Floyd last year lost seven players and the only one back that played very much is Ethan. Much expected from him for leadership and the best way for that is by example. Last night was not his best moment and it was brought forth by frustration. That is still not something to be used as an excuse or outlet of anykind. I would not expect that behavior to happen again. He has been a good player for the Raiders in the four years and hopefully will get back to where he must be in order for them to do anything in the tournament. Some will rise to the top and others will fall to the side, I am hoping Ethan plays the way I know he can. Great players will make everyone around them better and give them confidence with encouragement and a demonstration of what it takes to be a winner and this is not going by what the scoreboard shows at the end of the game. I could take losing every single game as a coach if in my heart I knew that player's were giving everything they had for their school and fan's than to win maybe a regional tournament and go thru some things that were an embarrassment to players themselves, parents, fans and coaches.I know also that these are just 16 and 17 year old kid's and need guidance from coaches and parents but they have to at sometime be responsible for how they react. This Raider team has made a big turnaround from last year in how they act on the floor, they do at times get caught up into altercations and unfortunately they are the one's that are not basketball clever enough to simply play and not get caught up into these little petty things on the floor. As far as an embarrassment for the last couple of years some of these actions have been going on for a long time on the Left Beaver area and all over the region as well. I remember how it was when I played and even some others in the way they conducted themselves on the floor. We had a time in the regional when Johnson Central beat South Floyd in Michael Hall's senior year. Losing is not an easy thing to take and this year it has been really tough for the SF community. Small schools with an enrollment of 300 cannot expect to be one of the top programs every single year. I haven't seen Jimmy Lee Stumbo, Ryan Shannon, John Meade, Michael Hall, Rusty Tackett, Tyler Hall, Burnett Little or Steven Stanley walk thru the door's this year however these boy's I mentioned that helped build a solid program should be enough of an inspiration to the current one's to play as hard as they can for as long as they can-------and do it in the right way, win or lose. Just a thought from a tired old man on his way to the promise land,so to speak. We deserve evrything said about us and an apology goes out to our fans that pay money each night we play and sacrifice other things in their lives to show us support. It is appreciated. Thanks

Its true that some tradition was built and everyone knows that at one point in SF's history, there was enough talent to reach 2-3 Sweet Sixteens, but there always seemed to be 1-2 people on the floor that everybody in the stands wondered, Why is he out there? It may have been from friendships, boosters participation, or whatever, most feel that things should have been better, at one point I think SF had 6 or 7 kids that signed to play at the next level from those years, that is realy rare at a small school. Anyway, enough preaching on the past, it comes down to looking at the kids and finding out who is willing to look at that tradition and leave it on the floor on any given night! The past few years it has been easier to lay down and take some of the worst beatings the school has seen, it is pretty well known that hustle and defense will not get you much floor time, although the school had big scores in the past, they may need to look at being a little more defensive and fisty to win games now, just my opinion!

I think they will have some new faces coming in next year. As far as the 6 or 7 kids that signed, it took some work on behalf of more than these kids floor time to get them the opportunity to play at the next level. Things will get better hopefully with in the next several years.

I tried not to to get on this thread because I knew what kind of stupid remarks would be made about this game but here goes. To Bluegrass rules and State, Ethan is played in 4 conference games and is averaging 21 pts, 12 reb, 6 asst, 2 steals. and before everyone says he shoots to much, AC game collins took more shot attempts, Pburg game Jordan hall took more attempts. So enough about him he is the best player in the district but people just do not like him.
No for you Triple J --- Since 2000 I think a lot of schools would like to have SF success in the last 7 years. 1 "Big Regional" 3 All "A" regional, 2 All" A Runner-up, 1 WYMT title (which at the time was as hard to win as a regional), 5 District Titles (4 in a row which will never be done again), 1 Coca-cola Title (only time invited), 4 conference titles. And the difference is any of those first 5 teams would walk threw the region these last two years because play is low. As far as the players being played because of boosters and stuff South floyd might be the only one that it does not happen at. If you played of go to SF now you would know that the JV has only won 1 game and lost the rest by 15 or more and the game they won SF played the 7th and 8th grader one their roster. The only reason they are not playing on the V is that they would be on here with people talking about who they are related to. Freshmen team is about 8-3 with them two leading them about everynight in scoring.
SF in the last 7 years has had the most success maybe besides SV then anyone in the region. These give give it all they have and thats all we could ask for. Like I said talent level has gone down Michael Hall could beat every team in the region by his self this year and until they start good AAU program for Left beaver it will be hard for players to get better. But to ever say SF playes people that do not need to be playing because of who their daddy is, is the worst thing I ever heard.

It is the truth about ppl. saying juss b/c there family is on the coaching staff...but what it is that gets 2 ppl. when they think about it is that they are the only 2 players from a middle school team that was 2nd best in the county...on the freshman and j.v. squads...when there is 2 or 3 players that could play some freshman and possibly some jv ball...one in particular is dakota hall...the brother of former raider mason hall...he has more heart than any 1 in the sf program HS(not including slone) or MS...and that is including his battle with rheumatoid arthritis which the doctors said could turn into cripplin arthritis...from what i heard he couldnt even walk the entire summer...IMO he was the ingredient that held the team 2gether...and he was not even givin the opp. from what ive heard...so if ur thinkin that its juss b/c of who there family is or who they kno then u got it all wrong my friends....
