I'll take BMR hands down! I do like what ive seen from Nehi west @ magoffinco. and Bart williams @ pikeville the past few yrs. I think alot of the girls success at MC needs to be credited to west as well.

I would have to take Booher from Valley. Hes very entergetic and knowledgeable of the game. Plus a 16-1 record this season doesnt hurt either.

Last year everyone was calling for Boohers head.
01-25-2007, 06:17 PM
Coach Runyon.

I was thinking the same thing. For the last TWO years it has been get rid of Booher. Now he is the best coach in the region. Isnt it amazing what wins can do to the publics eye on a coach.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

Jason Booher was a very good coach at Belfry. He is a real good coach, Young and very intergetic (hope i spelled that right LOL) . Really acts like he wants to be at every single game. More than some coaches i have seen in the 15th.

That's "energetic".

Runyon and Booher are the best two in the region, in that order. If you go to a svhs game and listen you will still hear a certain group calling for Jason removal. He is not a valley boy.

Coach Runyon at Paintsville

I probably wouldn't take your case -- haha, just kidding. Have a good day.

Until anyone else wins a state championship...I'll have to stick with Runyon...Booher isn't far behind, but haven't really played a lot of competition...though this is going to change this weekend.

id have to say Runyon from Paintsville

Booher? Amazing what replacing a top 3 coach in the region after he develops a HUGE AMOUNT of talent and having the 2 best feeder schools in the 15th does to someone that no one wanted.
1 - Bill Mike Runyon - State title, and more region titles than anyone living
2 - David Rowe - does more with less, has anyone I have ever seen what his feeder schools do year in and year out - nothing
Randy Casey has to be mentioned somewhere too. To have the success that he has had at Belfry is to say something considering how low the program had sunk to be fore he got the job

Bill Mike Runyon is who I'd say is the best in the Region. Booher at Shelby Valley would have to be second.

I am a JC fan but there is just one choice. Bill Mike Runyon has won a State Title, was runner up and made several trips to the Sweet 16, coached and developed two Mr. Basketballs, coached and developed several D1 players and survived all these years at one school. No one in the 15th has come close to that. A good coach is a good coach regardless of where there from and he is the best in the 15th if not the state.

Definately Coach Booher from Shelby Valley.

We hear of threads like these year after year. Some people pick coaches who are having a good year, others call for the removal of those who are not far removed from having good years and being praised. I know I played for Paintsville and I work for him, but Coach Runyon is the best coach in the region hands down and has accomplished more than any coach in the history of the 15th Region.
Accomplishments (off the top of my head - I will get more if needed):
493 wins (25 years as head coach - 19.7 wins a year)
7 15th Region Titles
4 KHSAA "Sweet 16" Final Four Appearances
2 KHSAA "Sweet 16" Championship Game Appearances
1 KHSAA "Sweet 16" State Championship (1996)
6 15th Region All "A" Titles
2 All "A" Classic State Final Four Appearances
1 All "A" Classic State Championship Appearance
8 Division 1 Signees
2 Mr. Basketball's

 No coach in the 15th can match that list!! And you might add that he has done it at one of the smallest schools in the 15th Region!!
