Tigers came out hot and then it was like they started holding back. They just need to start playing like they want to blow everyone out instead of easing up. Just call me crazy. I just don't understand. Or maybe it's just that everyone plays their hearts out against the Tigers.

This was not a very pretty game!

South Floyd, keep your heads up!
Congrats Tigers on the victory and good luck on Friday.

I believe it's both Hook.

Not at all are you crazy.. they need to get it together because they won't do so hot against better teams if they keep playing like this!

Congrats Tigers

Congrats.

I have said it a number of times in non-public forums, the Tigers need JD Vanhoose to play well. When JD decides he wants to play, meaning he gets 7+ rebounds, and about 14+ points, then the Tigers play well.

I have confidence in JD, and he knows I am pulling for him. I hope he comes out swinging for the following games.

He had a double double against South Laurel and Magoffin -- the Tigers played arguably their best games of the year against those teams.

Go Tigers. I'll be at the game Friday; hope to see you there.

Ugly....well 21 turnovers between 2 teams aint too shabby. Bunches of threes put up in this game though!!!
I thought both teams played pretty well... I know that they both played very hard and left it all on the court.
SF just refused to quit, and that's my opinion as to what went on in this game.
JMO....but this must have been a different Raider team tonight than what has shown up in other games this year.

Congrats to Paintsville!

 That is very true, the Tigers need JD in every game. JD didn't have a good game tonight, missed and has missed lately, too many layups and so forth. JD is a very good ballplayer and the Tigers need him to play good and I'm confident that he can get it going. And yes, if JD has a double double you know the Tigers should have played well.

Congrats to the Tigers! You guys had rough night, but still found a way to win and that is all that matters. The ends are better than the means! lol

I will commend SF tonight on a hard fought game, one of their better efforts this year. But at the same time, the Tigers could have won this one by 20 points or more IF they had not gotten sucked into the 3 point shooting contest with SF. If the Tigers had slowed the pace and took it inside more, played better perimeter D, and took care of the ball a little better, then the score would've been much different.

But anyway, a win is a win! Congrats Tigers!! Let's move on to Friday and get the job done!

Congrats Paintsville.
#17
i was at the game and the tigers didnt get sucked into any 3 point shoot out and the tigers played their game....the raiders can play when they want to and they have shown that against both johnson county teams....if the raiders keep playing like they did tonight then they will walk away with the 58th no matter what place they are in now
#18
is it hard for ne 1 to give SF some credit????? Paintsville won by 8 we all know that and SF played their best game and was ready for them...GIVE US SOME CREDIT PLZZZZ

Kind of a surprising score. Congrats Tigers!

Thinking you are a "golden eagle fan" you would've watched them play Prestonsburg tonight....congrats to PHS on a victory. Take 'em anyway you can get them....SF came up a little short but it sounded as if they have stepped it up a bit and this is the time of the year when you want to start peaking too.

Have to agree about VanHoose though, with his size there is no reason why he shouldn't have a double-double every night. Good luck in the next game.

That is why they play the game. Especially high school kids they can be a different team in just 24 hours. If every team play to the ability every night, played to their strengths and play the perfect game no one would lose. Might you be saying that BMR got out coached tonight but had enough talent to get the win.

Your inference that Coach Runyon was outcoached is interesting to say the least. I didn't grasp that from EKY's post to the least. It is pretty clear that EKY thought that the Tigers shouldn't have shot so many threes, should have given the ball inside more, and could have played better perimeter defense. To me, those are all things the players control on the court.

I also thought that is what EKY was saying. I was only asking might he be saying they were outcoached. I thought the Coach controlled the way a team played because if you ask me when a player doesn't do what the coach says then they sit the bench until they understand what the coach is asking them to do. Coaches use timeouts to advise the team to not shoot so many 3s, work the ball inside, step up the D or someone on the bench that wants to will play. But according to you a Coach is only a babysitter.

I think they started last year things about BMR and coaching. Only thing I can say is he can't make the shot or play the D himself. I know he did not let Johnson hit a three to end the half because I saw him on the bench. Paintsville is a very good team and still they haven't been beat in the region. They are still in my opinion the team to beat along with Shelby Valley. Can some of the other teams beat them ? I think so but they will have to play a good game. Bill Mike has been around coaching for quite a while and brought respect to our region, He has teams that are fundamentally sound and know how to get a win. South Floyd played one of their better games and even though they have a bad record it doesn't mean they are terrible. One thing I believe is that you need to play a pretty decent schedule in order to be good at the end of the year. SF hasn't dodged anyone and it should be a positive for them when the district comes around. Paintsville sure will not evade anybody from Kentucky or any state and they had a scare from SF. It ended up an eight point loss for SF and they did have it cut to three or four when they had the corner three go down and come out with about 55 seconds left. The game wasn't ugly because these kids aren't college players that if they miss a shot or make a turnover they get yanked from the game, they are high school players and will make mistakes, that's just part of it. The tournament was great for me in the old gym because of the crowd and the noise. That was what the All A was designed for with the small school having the chance to win a regional and go to the state. Richmond plays a great host for the tournament and they treat the 16 teams better than what they do at Rupp as far as taking care of them and seeing they are treated great. It is a great time. Best of luck to BMR and the Tigers the rest of the year and to South Floyd and their Raiders.

I agree that the game was not ugly at all, SF seems to step up and push PHS every year in both b-ball and f-ball. I will say that I am disappointed in the protection that is afforded to L.Slone, if he misses a shot or loses the ball and anyone is within his comfort zone, then you can count on a whistle to be blown! E. Johnsons steal and subsequent mugging that followed was a big momentum shift, should have been 2 free throws and the ball for SF late in the 4th, but I'm still not clear why the shriek of basketball sneaker would eliminate that play and put the ball back at halfcourt? Oh well, I hope M. Hall enjoys his time at the track this weekend or with some of his calls he may be planning a big bonus for the riverboat!
#27
They explained that call with an inadvertent whistle being blown. That stopped the play according to the referee and thus they gave the ball to South Floyd after they made the play. It was a big call.
#28
What I dont understand about it is, if the ref blew the whistle by mistake, then a foul was called after the mistake whistle. If the foul was waved off because the first whistle and South Floyd got the ball back, why wasnt time put back on the clock to where the mistake whistle was blown at? Why didnt the ref that blew it the first time stop play then give the ball back, why wait until after a foul to fix it?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.
