Some Fans are taking it TOO far

As everyone can see, Hazard fans have been rude, crude, and ignorant throughout their history, and it happens at all sporting events that they are involved in, not only basketball. I do not appreciate being accused of yelling at any one or for any side because i was not, i am a neutral spectator who enjoys watching the great talent that our mountain kids have, so i do not understand why it was said I was yelling when you do not even know who "I" am. This behavior must stop, and as stated before it starts with the parents. There must be some direction displayed for these kids to follow and I agree that the principle should be present and made to watch the kids and thier parents should all be there to witness the obscene acts that take place at every Hazard High School sporting event.

This behavior of fans has been taking some "pride" away from the players and cheerleaders who work their butts off to so school spirit. If you get to looking at many of the fans who have the poorest attitudes it's usually adults who want to relive their high school days. I think when it comes to students that's when the administration at each school needs to step in and do something about it. If everyone would just grow up at these games we wouldn't have these problems. Sure it hurts when you get beat or get a bad call but when fans act rude it only increases the bad calls from the refs which in turn increases the taunting and rude behavior. If you are a taunting fan, please grow up and let the kids play ball.

Why dont people just stop singiling out parents and families of kids they dont even know. You need to grow up and stop harrasing the fans. We didnt do anything more obscene than the fans of the other team, we responded to wot we got. I would ask the administrators to please close this thread before this goes too far and turns out to be a back and forth insult competition.

I agree with poppa bear here.... Hazard fans are very rude!

It's this "give a lick, take a lick" mentality that is ruining everything. There are ways of dealing with these situations and all administrators have been well-schooled in how this is done and liability issues. It's time everyone learned how to treat each other @ ball games. Plunking down your $$ @ the gate doesn't buy you the right to behave inappropriately. Parents should try to attend a few games with their students, teachers should be on hand, and so should administrators. These folks lead by example as do the athletes themselves. There's nothing better than to see a well behaved group of young men or ladies come into a gym and play with integrity and respect for the game, themselves, their team, school, and God. I'd love nothing better than for all Eastern Kentucky, schools to attend and represent the Mountains in State competition and be the LEADERS in this area!

Hey now south floyd's fans are pretty bad ourselves...but me and my other jailbirds love causing pain for the other team...its our home field advantage you could say....
#38
Don't worry tomorrow night will be the last time you'll have to hear their PEP during the WYMT, after JBS knocks em off that is . Wink

This usually happens at alot of games, and trust me I have seen Hazard fans and they tend to get pretty rowdy and pretty dirty. It is very classless and it looks bad not only on yourself, but the school as a whole as well.

PoppaBear you should just stay home and watch on TV. Why do pay so much attention to the fans anyway. Let the kids be kids and if you don't like it stay home. Maybe you should try paying more attention to game instead of worried about what young teenagers are doing. Why should they grow up so soon. Keep up the good work Hazard fans.

you guys got to remeber something they are a bunch of kids there going to use profanity and rude gestures but i don't have much of a problem with it as long as it does not get personally or start a fight.

Its kinda hard not to pay attention to your ignorant fans when they are yelling things such as "Daddy's boy!" "We want mommy" or "Clarks moms hott" everytime Clark Stepp touches the ball. All these comments have nothing to do with the ball game and it just goes to show how stupid you really are when you yell them. It's not cool, or funny in any way, its flat out dumb. Im sure there are some REALLY mean things that JBS fans could say, but you could just call us classy I guess. Good luck Crusaders!

They are old enough to know better, and the only problem here is flat out disrespect. There are A LOT of REALLY mean things that JBS fans could say back, but just call us classy I guess.

The point you all are missing is High School students are not "just a bunch of kids"... in High School life lessons need to be learned for you to be able to function in the adult world that comes DIRECTLY after high school. They are not "just kids"... they're young women and young men and need to act that way. Its one thing to try to have school spirit and support your team, but profanity, rude gestures, or personal attacks, should NEVER be tolerated.

I hate to tell all u people but the world isnt a nice place, Im not from Hazard but so what if they say stuff. Get over it, teenagers saying stuff so what. you think u play college ball people isnt going to say anything to you

In the HS games I have recently attended I think the behavior of some of the adults is 10 times worse than students in pep sections! Maybe there is a problem with the HS students behavior because they learned it from their parents!
#47
LC's team may end their games with prayer, but that doesn't mean that their fans do!

I have noticed that profanity is very common at every game - football and basketball. You hear it from someone almost at every game. And it is sad that children are around when it is said. It is always only a few, but it is very common. It isn't just Hazard or SV, it is every school. I have personally heard it from Prestonsburg, SV, Paintsville, Johnson Central, Lawrence Co., Belfry, and many other schools. It is the principals that need to keep a sharper eye out and do something about it.

But there is certainly nothing wrong with an agressive pep section. Just keep the profanity out of it.

ok this is just wonderful.....lets all bag Hazard because some guy goes to one game and hears something bad from the HHS pep section and thinks they are the devils children....apparently this guy didnt go to the meeting this year between HHS and PCC when perry centrals pep section chanted f*** you hazard near the end of the game...basketball is a competitive sport and trash talking has became a large part in high school ball... and all this about HHS principal i dont want to hear it thats crap...HHS has probably the best principal in the land and keeps the pep section in control compared to other schools

 Good point! Would have to agree! Two really bad instances, one at Prestonsburg and one at Paintsville that I heard were adults!

let me tell you something...i have been to more than one hazard game, and they yell ignorant stuff at all games. when they play jbs, everytime that clark stepp touches the ball they yell "daddys boy" "we want mommy" or "clarks moms hott" these remarks have nothing to do with the game at all and jbs fans say nothing to hazard fans, and they still treat us like crap...they r just flat out disrespectful! i was not at the pcc vs hhs game, but if pcc did as u said then they are disrespectful also..however, when my team played pcc, the pcc fans said nothing to us, so it sounds to me like its just a problem between hhs and pcc..but hazard fans seem to carry this same problem to every game they attend..

I am an avid adult Hazard fan and I dont agree with alot of what those kids yell, but I see the same thing coming from other schools pep sections. Why just put Hazard down?
What a rival cheering section was yelling was way beyond calling someone daddysboy. My husband and I could not believe what those kids were chanting. I was embarassed and it wasnt coming from our cheering section. I think some people have selected hearing if they are only hearing from the Hazard section!!! GO DAWGS!!!

1.Ninety-five percent of you that claim Hazard's pep section is "ignorant" or "redneck" is quite...ridiculous. You can't even spell some of the words correctly or make sense, period.
2."Disrespectful" chants toward players, cheerleaders, etc. from any team are primarily for distraction. It's true that some players/cheerleaders/coaches just suck, and we students are just emphasizing this fact.
3.KYGurl, this topic's been brought up so many times. It'll keep being brought up. Pep Sections, especially Hazard's, will become harsher. This kind of stuff fuels us.
Thanks.

99problems and a ain' one.

The only reason JBS fans don't say anything is because they don't have any.

Was you not at the regional tournament last year when JBS played Hazard, we had just as many fans as they did if not more.
