I agree with you on them being the best team. They was a very solid squad. The Australian team wasnt a pushover either.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

Belfry battled them today...they were a few missed shots from having a chance to beat them.

or.....a few missed shots from being beaten by 30. The tall ref made sure it was a respectable game, and the Milwaukee coach was very generous to by calling off the dogs. Besides Case Belfry is really struggling on the offensive end. They are big but those big fellows sure don't move well or shoot it very well. Also, #3 forces a lot of shots. Case kept it respectable all by himself. He is a big time player. He is hard nosed and very strong. It was a pleasure to watch him!!

Wow...you didn't think Belfry competed today?? Called off the dogs??? I must have missed that part.
#6
The tall ref kept it respectable??? Much like Duff tried to do for Pikeville last night??

Yes, Belfry competed. They are big and strong and played hard. Case makes them a good team. South Div. was just a little too much in this one. They are a really good team. I don't think any refs could have prevented them from winning this tourney.

I didn't see a problem with the Refs. Dustin May is one of Belfry's best players and he had 3 fouls in the first half. Belfry killed themselves in this game. I'd be afraid to count the lay ups missed by the Pirates but I would need more then my fingers to count them out. It was a pitiful offensive effort. I think alot of the game Belfry's defense did pretty good. But nobody except for Case can score on offense. From about the middle of the second quarter on Dustin May shot at least 10 shots and only made 1 that I can remember. His percentage for this game will be way below 50. He also clanked free throw after free throw. I also have to mention that Warren did a pretty good job for the Pirates..easily the best of the bigs today. A good defensive effort and an awful offense besides Case. But lets not forget that Milwaukee South was a very good team.

A few missed shots from beaten by 30?.. What game were you at?.. Milwaukee weren't having trouble with shooting.. #12, 24, 14 all lit it up all night.. Belfry problem lies within thier big men & missed layups.. They can not defend well.. There were 6 times I counted, when Belfry left someone wide open underneath the basket.. That happened the first play of the game... On the other end of the court, Belfry couldn't make a simple layup.. Also #22 Bowens, & #40 Steele especially have stop bringing the ball down to thier knees after getting rebounds.. These are simple fundamentals that you would have thought these kids would have known in grade school..
And the biggest problem with Belfry is 5 straight games in as many days (9 games in 11 days)... Belfry didn't have the legs, nor the energy.. As you could see, because every missed shot from Case fell short...

Those players HAVE BEEN taught those fundamentals....they work on stuff like that everyday..Belfry is a work in progress...they are getting better...but still have a long way to go...I'm sure the coaching staff would tell you that..as they have told me many times..

Oh, I know they have been taught it.. But they arn't doing it..
They need to get used to it.. Because you'll lose the ball everytime bringing the ball down

maybe the big redhead is just trying to play them into shape. lol These tournaments with 4 games in as many days may be a bit much at any level of bball. As for the refs what can anyone say. They seem to do the best they can for the home team.

Yeah, that seems to be a blunder on Casey's part.. I would have never scheduled 9 games in 11 days
#15
Not a blunder imo...they went 6-3 over the 9 games...including 5 out of last 6...against quality competition...can do nothing but help them come march...they developed some mental toughness over the last 11 days...also will pay off in march..also...Massey tourney was a late addition to the schedule...from what the staff says Massey made a monetary offer they couldn't refuse...

I didn't get to Belfry's game Saturday, but Friday night against the Australian team, Belfry looked tired to me. I am not saying that was a blunder on Coach Casey's part, but the fatigue did show.

Gotta win three in a row in the region and like last year you have to win 5 in like 7 days(district and region) to go to Rupp...tired legs or no tired legs...that's what has to happen...and that's what Belfry is trying to prepare for..they have been close the past couple of years...and the players and coaches are tired of being close..they want to play in Rupp...no arguing they were tired...but they fought thru the fatigue on Friday night and they battled their guts out again on Saturday...

Nice statement Hoops Lover. Everyone who watched the game could tell they were tired. Shots were short, layups were missed, big guys brought the ball down, that is what happens when you are tired, instinct is you drop your hands, catchable balls were not caught. Still had a nice run the last 11 days of great competion. Great way to get the football boys in shape. Those games can do nothing but help Belfry in the long run come tourny time.

congrats SDW

Milwaukee South Division is Division 1 in Wisconsin
In Kentucky, enrollment wise they would be a 4A, or 6A in the new format
They have 1699 students
So I think Belfry did well against such a big school...
