I didn't forget, the point I am trying to make is that when they play TEAM ball they are very tough, inside game or not, ask JC how good they are when they throw the ego's and selfishness out the window.

So I think that statement has nothing to do with the one game you are talking about. Maybe they played selfish against a bunch of other teams they played, but not against Johnson Central in any of the 3 games that they played them. Johnson Central won one of those games and lost the another by 2 points. In the game at Johnson Central, Paintsville hit everything they shot in the first half. Seems like it was something phenominal like around 75%. How can you beat someone that shoots that kind of a percentage? You cant!! Combine that with the fact that JC's coach refused to take the press off and you can see why the game got out of hand. Sometimes you have those games where you can just do no wrong and some times you have them where you can just do no right, and neither situation is indicative about what kind of team you really have. Every team has those games throughout the season at one time or another, and it happened that night @ Johnson Central. Basketball is a game of spurts, and Paintsville had an incredible 16 minute spurt.
I dont think that last year Paintsville was any better than 5 or 6 other teams in the region, or were they any worse than 5 or 6 other teams either. Last year the region was weak, but it was pretty well balanced among those top 5 or 6 teams. Any team was able to beat the other on any given night. At tournament time it all came down who was on a streak, and that's all there was to it.

Paintsville may have shot 75%, but 90 % of that was open shots under the goal. They penetrated and dished off to the open man, something us Paintsville fans never seen with the exception of that game and a couple during the hoops classic. Say what you want rooster but Paintsville didn't play team ball the other two games. When Landon Slone has 12-14 assists and all of Paintsville's top 6 players score in double figures all in the same game, come on now rooster.

Come on rooster?, more like come on Redneck.
I dont think there has ever been a game between Paintsville and Johnson Central when it wasn't an all out team effort by either team. You played in them and I have too.
Paintsville had a good team last year (rating them against the rest of the 15th region anyways), but like I said they were no better than a bunch of other teams. They were young however, and this particular season they may very well run the tables, but you are way overrating them for last year.

There is no contender in the 15th to win the State Tlourney. Shelby Valley, Johnson Central, Paintsville. These teams are really close in ability. I would give the defensive side to JC and the inside game to SV. That being said, if Paintsville comes out this year and shoots lights out from the peremiter, then it will be a long season for those playing them.
Defensively they have no STOPPER this year, this will hurt them. There is only one basketball and it seems like all these players want to lead this team in scoring. That won't work.

The only team that could contend oout od this region is SV. There is no way that paintsville is a contender they will barley be one for the region they are terriable this year Valley and JC will dominate them this year.

:thatsfunn Are you smokin crack man? Like I said earlier, I don't think Paintsville is a contender to win the Sweet Sixteen, but to say that they are barely a contender for the region .

I don't know how Paintsville will do this year, BUT you are living in a dream world if you think that SV is the only team that could contend outside of this region. And Paintsville should definately be able to hold their own with JC and SV. And this in no way is meant to take away from the talent on SV or JC's teams. But reality is what it is and SV is not a 15th Region powerhouse this year.

I think Paintsville is most definetly in contention for a state title. They showed alot of potential last season and they have only gotten better. I look for them to take the region and run deep at state.

Not saying that they think they are better than anyone, just that they know that if they give their best, they can absolutely ball!yes i agree
Since most think Paintsville will be the best in this region, then those 15th reg. competitors here that are saying know way Paintsville could compete for state, must reall think your own team sucks! lol

no way their state contenders they have to win region first..

If they can beat Valley Pike Central Johnson Central and Pikeville they might have a chance

This thread has to be a joke. Since Landon has been in high school over there, all people talk about is how good there going to be but they never live up to it. There playing with the same kids they played with last year but without Pugh, which was there only player that could stop people on defensive. What did they win last year?..They lost the All "A" to SOUTH FLOYD, Johnson Central won the region. They have NO CHANCE in being a state contender. They won't even win the 15th this year, either JC or Valley will win it.

You could be right, but I wouldn't be so confident. Paintsville picked up Van Ferguson who is one of the best players on the team now and they have the ability to beat any team in the 15th if they play team ball! Only time will show us if they will do it!

I am looking forward to this season. Will Paintsville make it to "Rupp"? I believe making it to "Rupp" should be the goal of every team in Kentucky. Granted, setting realistic goals is important, but believing in one's abilities, working as hard as one can, and never wavering in one's determination to attain a goal will always pay huge rewards.
Do I believe my Tigers can make it to "Rupp"? I believe in my team every year, every time they step onto a court I believe in those kids. Every fan of every team should believe likewise & support their kids accordingly. I support my Tigers in all things and if they've set "Rupp" as their goal for this season, then I have a very good idea of what it's going to take to get there & I'll be happy to do whatever I can to help and/or support those efforts. Go Tigers, your road to "Rupp" begins on Second Street... otherwise affectionately nicknamed "TigerTown USA"!

I actually totally agree with this post!! Too much talent on one team!
11-26-2006, 10:55 PM
well basicly the fact of the matter is ummmm no Paintsville has about no shot at winning a state title this year or next year...IMO the way they have looked the past couple of post seasons they will yet again struggle to make it out of district and region...get rid of the egos and all star personas and then worry about playing ball b/c until they do all they will b is a talented ball team who is a huge disapointment..and imo thats all they will ever amount to...wasted talent...and with that said i feel sorry for BMR
