Powell County's Red-White Game (11/16)
#1
With the entire varsity team back, including 11 seniors, and 2 contributing juniors, this should look more like a scrimmage between two varsity squads than an intra-squad matchup. Im personally looking forward to seeing the pirates new run-n-gun offense, teamed with their new pressing and trapping defense.

no not two varsity squads ... imo more like an intrasquad 3 on 3 matchup ... there may be 11 seniors but some of them shouldnt play basketball ... several under 5'8 and never seen a full varsity minute ... but their offense and defense should be fun to watch ... cant wait to watch romans play ... i mean powell

Im not sure but last time i checked there wasnt any player on powell's varsity team that is under 5'8.:ChairHit:

Anyways this should be a fun game to watch, looking forward to seeing the gym packed like it used to be.

I can't wait. Look out Powell County, cuz on Thursday night, Here I come. This is gonna be a great season starter. I can't wait to see how the boys have advanced from the past, and It's gonna be a great pumper for when the real scrimmages and games start. Oh and yea I believe, every senior they brought back and the two juniors had full varsity floor time last year, and they also are gonna dress a couple underclassmen, so I think we are in for a good show!!!!!!

I think it will be a fun exciting event to watch. Finally citizens of Powell County will be able to see how our boys are doing and what new style of play they have.

Good game last night boys. I loved it. Everyone kept commenting on the new fast break that you guys are doing. I think you guys will be just fine this year, regardless of how far you get in your tournaments. It should be a fun year one way or the other. KEEP YOUR CHINS UP!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night was a great atmosphere for Powell County's team. The game was fun to watch. Yes the new fast break and the new defense that they have put in was very interesting to see. Mainly because they have never really played that style. It looks to me like they could have done it all the years that they have been here. Good Job Guys.

Yeah the game last nite was exciting, with the White team pulling out a tough 75-68 win. The new offense was fast-paced and really enjoyable, defense looked shaky at times but its early in the year. Really enjoyed watching Adams and Dennis throw down in warm-ups, havent seen that from Powell in awhile, to bad neither could get one off in the game.

I think they may just have been a little nervous about pulling one off in the game where they haven't been able to in the past. I also think that once the season gets rolling thinks will pep up. I'm excited to see how things turn out.

I think the game was pretty good, red was down kinda bad for a little while but cut it down to a one point lead. It was pretty exciting to watch and I couldn't have guessed who was going to win before hand. Good job guys!

Last night none of them was dunking. What I seen them doing last night was laying the ball over the rim then pulling the rim down to pop it. Sorry, but that isnt dunks. All the hype about them on here is very much over-rated from what I seen at Shelby Valley. They are a mid to low second tier team. I am sure their intrasquad game was fun to watch. Those usually are. When the real season starts, reality will set in for them.

11 seniors? MY GOSH!

Didn't they get drilled in a scrimmage?

They got beat by 39 at Shelby Valley by Shelby Valley. Valley even had more fouls called on them than Powell did. They, (Powell County fans), made way to many predictions about them winning the region with 12 seniors for them to play like they did. A good jr. varsity team or even a good freshman team would beat them with all their seniors on the floor.

WOW..39 point loss to VALLEY? Going to be a long season Powell!

hey basketballonlyfan...how bout you quit running your mouth on powell...they came and played good and gave it everything they had ...valley was a good team and lets see a good freshman team or jv team beat these seniors..valley's jv is good lets see them beat powell varsity

Powell just had a bad game I would like to see any JV or freshmen team try to take on those guys .......please tell me any JV or freshmen player in the state who can match up with Romans or anyone of the seniors in Powells lineup.

WOW! Powell County is bragging because they think their seniors could beat freshmen. I wouldnt care to bet on what I seen the other night that Shelby Valley's JV would beat Powell. All the hype you all placed on them before the season started seems just that, hype. To bad the hype wasnt on the court. Or at least I should say on the court the game I seen them in.
