What's the biggest potiential upset brewing for this Friday night?
Supposed to rain all week, Especially on Thursday.
Ok here's mine. Newport knocks off Mercer on a rain soaked field Friday night!
Newport was preseason top 10 and had some-what of a disapointing year for the expectations they had comming in this season. The Wildcats are 8-3 and avenged a reg. season Spencer co. loss with a 35-0 first round shutout.
Weather and rain plays a part Friday night and the BIG-TIME 2A upset that always happens, Happens Friday. Invincable Mercer falls Friday to a preseason top 10 Newport team, Who seams to be playing their best ball right now.
Saturday's coment will be " I can't believe Mercer got beat, But it always happens like that over there". Fumbles bounce Newports way and we get the 2A upset Friday night. Newport 28 Mercer 26 (lol) If history repeats itself, This could happen.:thatsfunn :yikes:

Watch the Middlesboro/Leslie game......The Eagles can pull off the upset if they play like they did last week....that being said, Middlseboro is better than Breathitt, but it could happen.

Mercer beat Newport like 20-7 earlier this year. I heard it was 0-0 at the half.
Every sports writer in the state picked Fort Campbell as invincable in 2A last season, Look what happened. Newport gave Mercer it's toughest challenge this season and add a lil' rain, mud and wet footballs and anything can happen. Almost every year when a team is supposed to be a CLEAR-CUT favorite to win it, They get knocked off.
Newport was supposed to have a hell of a team this year and stumbled some but with the weather prediction for this week, Could be a UPSET looming around the corner.

I am seeing it..Newport with the upset!!!!

Will it happen? Probably not, But................ Bad weather and preseason top 10 Newport team makes it my upset pick for Friday. It's playoff time, Look what happened to 10-0 Lafayette, Got thumped by 4 seed Woodford. It's a whole new season come playoffs and in the rain UPSETS HAPPEN. It all looks to easy for Mercer and it never seems to work out the way it looks like it should. Boyle co. had just started their dominance in 97', Undefeated, Got knocked off in the rain and mud by 4 seed Bourbon who they beat by 40 on a dry field reg. season.

It is VERY capable of happening! Wouldn't even be that big of an upset!

Hm Newport/Mercer game
Leslie/Middlesboro game
P-Burg/Belfry game
Woodford/Henry Clay game
Ashland/Johnson Central game
Murry/Mayfield game
All of the teams listed first would be the upset winner if it happened

NCC over Beechwood.
Raceland over LCA.
May be not big upsets but revenge from the regular season.

I think the best oppurtunity for an upset will come from the Belfry/Pburg game in which I see a 28-24 win by the Cats! Granted its going to be very tough for the Blackcats to overcome two injuries with starting o-lineman Sam Chaffin and rb Lincoln Slone. Go Get'm Cats!

Many don't think it can happen...
BUT, I got word from a pretty good source that a couple of PHS's most counted-on players "took a day off" from practice -- oh, they were AT practice and they were "practicing," but as far as how hard they were working
.
Heard one of the coaches comment to another that those two guys just didn't seem to have the "same fire" as they seemed to have the week of the FIRST Hazard game!
I'm telling you, this game CAN get ugly -- IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AS THE FIRST TIME -- if my Panthers think Hazard will play as bad as the first time! My sources from down Hwy 80 tell me they have had a GREAT week of practice and are looking at this game as their SUPER BOWL (unlike Pikeville, who has the temptation of looking ahead to the third round!! Advantage: Hazard!).

Hm i'd like to think the guys wouldn't over look anyone else after Jenkins! ESPICALLY in playoffs! every week of practice determines if they will be playing the next friday night! you can't overlook anyone come playoff time

Not being mean or anything but I sure hope that Mercer gets beat by Newport, lol tired of them preaching about how great they are haha
