Best coach in the 15th
#31
I agree BMR has had the most success, so therefore he has to be mentioned first.
#32
Yes, Coach Williams and Coach Starnes are Top Notch Classy Guys and IMO are good coaches and have done alot for their schools this past season. But, It was their first seasons at the helm and this thread is about best coaches in the 15th. Look at Tubby Smith. He came in and won it all his first year at Kentucky. BUT NOW LOOK! Everyone wants him run out. If Williams and Starnes continue with their programs through thick and thin and are always tough night in and night out. Then they will be mentioned more often in the future. But right now, you really can't compare them to guys like BMR and Martin who have been at their schools for as long as they have and built such respectable programs. My hat's off to BMR and Martin. Also to Williams and Starnes for successful first years. Wish them nothing but the best in the years to come.

He can't help that there is talent around him. He still wins with it, and not many people if any thought he could take a team to the Regional Championship last year. He beat Paintsville and Belfry on the way, who were both favored over Shelby Valley. He lost Kris Bentley, Kelsey Friend, and Patrick Tackett off the previous team, and still gave the team a chance in the regional championship.

Who cares if he inherited as you say, Rodney Rowes team? He still won the region, and done something Rodney Rowe would have never done. Get rid of Seth Kiser! Then they were fine without him. Seems like he knows what he is doing to me.

It's more about the basketball game, it's about learning about life, and Booher teaches these kids it's not all about the game of basketball because that's going to take those kids nowhere in life.

It's sad because of people like basketballjones holding a grudge against him because Seth was kicked off the team. Get over it.

I could care less if kicked Seth Kiser off, he still can't coach. He probably done the right thing there, I don't know, but hey if they didn't win the region that year at least he could have said that he had to kick the best player in the region off for an excuse. Last year with two men 6'4 and one 6'5 he should have walked through the region but they never got the ball. How many times does he change strategies in the game? None. I sit near a coach at the state tournament when they played Henry Clay that was laughing trying to figure how what he was doing.

First of all, you sat near a coach not sit. Second, name those players that are 6'4" and 6'5", I don't remember them. Maybe one 6'3". When you lose the senior class that SV did the year before, you are not supposed to walk though the region. I don't think anyone expected them to be in the final game. Your grammar alone shows your intelligence, so I will stop here.

Don't know either one of you. But. If you are going to correct someone on something as petty as grammar. At least make sure you spell your words right. through

Why can't people just leave the petty stuff alone?

Smile Well good for you. You don't like him. WE GET THE POINT! Nobody cares. Smile Smile What two men were 6'4 and which one was 6'5? There wasn't anybody close to 6'5 on that team. NOBODY expected Shelby Valley to walk through the region last year.

Booher isn't the best in the region by any means, but he sure isn't the worst.

BMR and Johnny Martin are as good as they come IMO

Well well, it seems that someone has their Tiger vision turned on! I can see you saying that Coach Runyon is the best but "Coach Starns my foot?" woe now! Are you saying he isn't a good coach? Sorry I'm not being mean, just curious. Thanks!

I guess Cade Riddle was only 6'1, and how about John Johnson? And they could have walked through the region if they were coached right. I said before I don't know him personally he may be the best person on the earth I just don't think he is a good coach, just an opinion don't take it personal.

Jr Hammonds from Sheldon Clark :moon:

Don't think Johnson played in the regional tourney. So one kid that was 6'3" or 6'4" in Cade.

He is the worst coach that has ever been there including boys and girls basketball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Confusedhh:

It is funny how all the people that get kicked off or quit the team get on here and bash their coaches. The coach could win 10 regional titles and if they didn't get to play then coach sucked. Sad thing is you are probaby from SV.
#46
GREAT point hazzbeen....I'd say that MANY of the derogatory comments about coaches on here come from kids or PARENTS of kids that were either kicked off or couldn't play a lick to begin with!!
#47
I'll go with Paintsville's Bill Mike Runyon, Johnny Martin is close.
#48
I would say it is the parents just as much as the kids, hoops lover. Most parents feel that their kid can play better than anyone, so they get upset at the coach when their son doesn't play. Eventhough the coach has been doing this way longer than any of the parents and had more success at it, they still feel like they no more.

Rodney Rowe and James Hurley is the two best coaches in the 15th, even though they are not coaching anymore. Sure wish they would get back into the game.

You are right he is not the worst, he is better than Brent Rose and JR Hammonds. So I guess that means I quit or had a child that couldn't play for Betsy Layne and Sheldon Clark too.

You can forget about Hurley. He will never coach again and I'd say Rowe wouldn't take 100,000 a year to coach Valley. That place is a snake's pit!!!!

Well for one obviously you care to get all worked up by our opinions and second of all I did not mean anything by my post was just saying he has planted his seed in a program that had a great past and will have a great future with players...I mean last year Valley got lucky point blank while they had some really good calls made by Booher...I’m not saying he isn’t a good coach but not nearly the best BUT he is young and will learn from mistakes that are made not saying he has made any big ones yet but they will come b/c all coaches do...But good luck to Booher keep it up your doing a fine job where you are...

The first post is ridiculous. We're talking about coaches, not quitters.

Way to back up your 2nd statement.

"IS" they the two best coaches?

Bill Mike Runyon is the best until he retires, and that's just how it's going to be.

Bill Mike Runyon, Hands down.

IMO, Bill Mike Runyon is probabley the best.. Jason Booher is close to the bottom.. He is probabley one of the worse coaches in the 15th..
Seems like hes more worried about looking pretty, then being a basketball team..
Besides, we all know he wouldn't even be where he is today, if it wasn't for family/friend ties... Confusedhh: oops.. did i say that? lol o well
#58
Bill Mike is at the top of the list. And like some have alrdy said on here although AC hasnt been winning these past few years Johnny Martin is right behind BMR. All that he has done for this school is amazing and will be missed when he leaves.
