We all give our opinions on players and coaches, lets hear it for our assisstants. Every coach has a #1 right hand man.

I think Pikeville has about the best assistant coaches. With Todd May, Lee Jones, and Denny May. I know alot of people on here doesnt like DPM but he seems to be doing a great job in practice. Lee has a great knowlege of the game. And I think nothing needs to be said about Todd.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

Denny is probably a better assistant than head coach, Newsome at Shelby Valley and Paintsvilles.

Now that Greg Newsome has moved up to Valley, he is definately one of, if not the best, assistant coach in the 15th region.

Valley has Greg Newsome. He took Virgies middle school to the state championship in Lexington. He also spnds alot of time coaching AAU teams where he wins games at big tournaments all over the country. He coaches the players he has playing at Valley with 2 from JBS and does a very good job.

All over the country? wow, so he takes this team to like CA and plays with them? Or in places like Virginia where basketball is the dominant sport?

Ues they go to Flordia and even over seas to play. They went to Australlia and played as a international team.

That is the funniest thing I have ever heard. He knows nothing. I can win with 18yr olds in 8th grade too.

I don't believe you could because they wouldn't be allowed to play.

They can't play in JR. High if they are 18 and they are eligible to play high school....just someone that doesn't like Greg or been beaten by his team really bad. They might have been 15 but that is perfectly legal.

Your right they were 15 and 16 but the point is that anyone can win with talent like that. You are also right when you say I don't like Greg Newsome. He is out to get the SV job and anyone thinks any different is an idiot. No one in the community likes him!

Several good assistants I'm aware of. In no particular order I like Mckenzie at Johnson Central, Vanhoose at Paintsville and Trimble at Lawrence County.

Every school could have held players back so why cut on Valley for doing it? Did Virgie beat your team real bad or something? If they was that good in middle school, think about how good they are going to be in high school. And why pick on Coach Newsome like you are? Doesnt every coach want to coach the best high school team in the region? Everyone is upset with Coach Newsome outside of Valley because he had the best middle school team for a long time. That should tell what a coach he is because of how Virgie Middle School did all the years he was coaching. Not to mention all the wins and championships he had coaching East Kentucky Lighting team.

I'm not from the SV community, but I've met him a couple of times and talked basketball and I like him.

Is Rady Martin still at Allen Central?? If so I'd have to list him as one of the best. He and Henry Webb played High School Basketball together at McDowell I believe. He's a nice guy.

Also JR Vanhoose at Paintsville, he has so much playing experience. You know he has tought these kids alot at Paintsville. He has to be one of the better Asst. Coaches in this area also.

I had to watch him for 2 years coach the paintsville middle school. Just because someone can play the game of basketball does NOT guarantee that he can coach the game. He is a good guy, he just needs to stick to teaching. I am not so sure he is even an assistant coach, he is their stat keeper guy.

Therefore you must be wrong. You know nothing!!! When you find a bunch of 18 year old eighth graders, let us know and bring 'em on. Love to play you and your team.

Rady Martin is now teaching at SFHS. He is supposed to be coaching SF's JV team. Unless things have changed recently.
I think AC currently has Nick Sammons and Don Burke helping out Johnny Martin.
