Three Way Tie for Class 2A District 8
#1
Tie is between Sheldon Clark, Belfry, and Prestonsburg !

Sheldon Clark beat Belfry - 35-29
Belfry beat Pburg - 42-10
Pburg beat SC - 23-17

I'm sure someone can explain how this will go if all three team win there next two games !

"BUT THERE'S STILL TWO WEEKS LEFT TO PLAY"
#2
there's a fourth SHELBY VALLEY they only have one loss too
#3
SV hasn't played the 2 other powerhouses in district either.
#4
Belfry's off this coming week, then we play Valley.

IIRC, total points in common games are added up, which means their scores against eachother matter, which means Belfry would be #1, SC #2, and Pburg #3.

I might be wrong though. I don't KNOW the rules, that's just what I was told.
#5
I always thought it went by your non district games, they add up your opponents you've defeated total wins and go from there.
#6
that's correct phscard.. and right now belfry is winning, thanks to the pikeville win..
I'm in love with Tawnya.. hehe..

Tom is not my friend....

if you have any questions send me a p.m.
#7
so do they do this on a point system or the non District records
#8
If it ends in a 3 way tie, each team looks at their non district schedule. They then pull the schedules of only the teams they have beaten from their non district schedule. Then you add together the number of wins for the whole season that each of those non district opponents you beat.

Here is how it stands at the moment I believe

Belfry has beaten NCC who has 3 wins this season, Lawrence County who has 1 win this season, and Pikeville who has 5 wins this season.

That gives Belfry a current total of 9 points

Sheldon Clark has beaten Lawrence County who has 1 win this season, Boyd County who has 3 wins this season, Knott County Central who has 3 wins this season, and Fairland who has won 0 games this season (but their game last night have not been posted yet)

This gives Sheldon Clark a total of 7 points

Prestonsburg has beaten Paintsville who has 4 wins this season

This leaves Prestonsburg with 4 points

So as it stands now:

#1 Belfry - 9 points
#2 Sheldon Clark - 7 points
#3 Prestonsburg - 4 points

It will come right down to the wire as the last 2 weeks of the season wrap up. Prestonsburg will not be able to advance past the 3rd spot because Paintsville only has 2 games left in the regular season.

I really dont see this being close.. heres why:

Belfry: NCC has two weak opponents coming up.. should be 2 wins (points).. and Pikeville should win out the regular season .. which is 2 more wins (points) and assuming Lawrence stays the same.. should give Belfry a final total of 13

Sheldon Clark: They could concivably pick up a couple points but not much more than that .. look at the khsaa and see who thier playing, I can't hardly see a swing in the wins of thier non-district opponents to give them them the nod over Belfry for the 1st seed.

I wouldn't be so certain, yet. Fairland won last night so that leaves the score at 9-8 with Belfry leading. It does seem that Belfry will pick up an additional 4 points in the next 2 weeks, leaving them with a total of 13

Boyd County has a good chance to pick up 1 point, KCC has a good chance to pick up 1 point, and Fairland has a good chance to pick up 2 more points down the stretch. That would be leave Sheldon Clark with 12 points.

We all know high school football, with just one good upset, Belfry could slide to 12 points, or Sheldon Clark jump up to 13 points.

If both teams tie for non district opponent wins, since Prestonsburg would be eliminated, it would go back to a 2 team race, and go back to tie-breaker #1 which would be Head-Head matchup.

That would give the crown to Sheldon Clark. It's too early to start locking up the title right now, but it could quite possibly be wrapped up after next week.

if valley were to beat pburg then sc is 1
#14
I'm not sure about all that points stuff. But I'm pretty confident on Prestonsburg beating Shelby Valley next week. But that could go either way possibly. But after having a 2 weeks to practice and stew over giving up a 22 point lead to Sheldon Clark in a quarter and a half and losing in overtime Belfry is gonna kill Shelby Valley in a couple weeks. Valley will end up with at least 2 if not 3 district loses.
#15
The way I see it is Belfry will get it. I dont know if Boyd will beat Greenup or not. And I see Cawood beating Knott. If that happens then go ahead and give it to Belfry. Pburg better beat Valley though and I believe they will beat them. Dont you just love football?

Yeah I was told that Coach Haywood said it would be a ruff two weeks of practice. I think this Belfry team will see in two weeks will be totaly different. Sometimes a loss does you good and I believe this will be the case.

Lets just say Valley beats p-burg
Then that will make it pretty confusing.....

With each of the top 4 teams having a win over each other.
The seeds will probly look like this.
1.Sheldon Clark-Lost to P-burg, but beat belfry.
2.Belfry-Lost to Sc but beat P-burg
3.P-burg-lost to valley(let's just say they do.) but beat SC
4.SV-lost to Sc but beat P-burg(and agian I'm just saying what if.)

ANd agian I state "WHAT IF????"

I thik that would just take pburg out of it. That would give them 2 district losses. It would also give valley two district losses. I don't think they can be a four way split.
#19
Wouldnt be a four way tie. If valley beats Pburg, then the district goes to SC and not Belfry....make sense???Smile
#20
So SV or PC have to win next week in order for Belfry to be #1 in the District?

If any Belfry players read that, let it settle in. You're now in the hands of SV and PC...

no.....if SV wins, then the district will be SC's.....if Pburg beats SV next week, then MORE THEN LIKELY Belfry will be district champions....and of course if PC somehow beats SC next week then it will be Belfry's as well..... Pretty much, IMO, it all comes down to Shelby Valley V. Prestonsburg.....go get em valley....
#22
How would it make SC champs if SV wins.. Belfry and SC would still both have one district loss.. it would just take Prestonsburg out of the mix..?

Think about it catsfan....if its a "two way tie" what do you think the tie breaker would be???

HEAD to HEAD
#24
IMO it all rides on Pburg and SV Friday night. If Pburg does win I do think Belfry will get the homefield with Pikeville having 2 winnable games as long as they wake up and NCC having a couple cakewalks.I really wished we had that Ashland win now.
#25
So do we...............
Romans 14:11
It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "

That would leave Prestonsburg with 2 district losses. So with them in 3rd, that leaves SC and Belfry tied for 1st. Where SC beat Belfry heads up, then that would be your tiebreaker giving SC the 1st place honors.
#27
If SV wins then Belfry is #1, but if P-burg win then SC is #1

Other way around my friend.

I talked to to the KHSAA today and this is the way it is but dont ask me how. If everyone wins out( Belfry, SC, and Pburg) then belfry will be first, Pburg second, and Sc third. If SV beats Pburg the it will move SC to first, Belfry second, SV third, and Pburg last.

sc 2d and pburg 3rd no matter what the lowest place sc can get is 2nd
