Mountain Top Ten 2005
#1
What does everyone think will be the top teams in the mountains for 2005?

I will give it a try:
1.Bell County
2.Rockcastle County
3.Pulaski SW
4.Middlesboro
5.Breathitt County
6.Corbin
7.Pikeville
8.Belfry
9.Prestonsburg
10.Johnson Central

I also like Lynn Camp, Somerset, Paintsville, Lawrence Co., and Pulaski Co. I'm sure I am leaving some good teams out.

I like these rankings so far. I'm sure Belfry and Prestonsburg will both move up through out the season. You gotta have them kind of low to start out since they have lost most of their skilled players.

I think both Pburg and Belfry will start out slow, but come playoff time they will both challenge for a Regional Title.

How many players does P'Burg have coming back
#9
Pburg looses 9 seniors if im not mistaken.
#10
Belfry obviously looses some talent but they arent going to be down as what people thinks next year. Matt Maynard I look for him to be moved somewere besides WR and he has good speed real good speed. Then Dustin May will be a good Rb. Reminds me of Doug. Then we will have a suprise or two that people dont even really know about not even most of the Belfry fans. I also look for alot more WV guys to come over next year cause of the new school I know if I lived over there Id go to Belfry

We will be down but not out. The district will be down as usual. As usual Belfry & P'Burg will battle it out for the District Title yet again. I look for Cawood or Russell to win the Region though as bad as I hate to say it.

I wonder who those "Suprises" are ??? :?:

Belfry will be down next year.

Please don't start bashing on this board too. I know Belfry will be down next year, so will everyother team in the region.
#14
The simple fact is that they will be down. Where was I bashing?
#15
I think that Pikeville is ranked a little too high right now....they have a lot of unknowns to fill
#16
Mak Im not a fan that is blinded by favortism twoards Belfry and I would admit when they will be down. Im not going to tell you your wrong. But I will say alot of people is going to be suprised next year with Belfry very suprised.
#17
I don't know if pikeville is ranked high...i think they are fine just where they are?

Atleast as high as i think they will venture this year....
#18
I have a feeling that we will be ok next year. I will never count out Coach Haywood and the boys from Pond Creek !!!
#19
True, but, This will be a huge rebuilding year for belfry...Who will they pick up?
#20
i beg to differ mania........i beleive pikeville will climb higer to atleast a 4 or 3 spot...but i guess we will have to wait untill autumn[/quote]
#21
P-burg and Belfry should be moved up.

P-burg will have a very experienced line next year on both sides of the ball and a good QB in Shaffer.

You'll have to excuse me Live....I don't know what i was typing....If you know me then you know i would never say that about pikeville.....What i meant to say was....I don't think pikeville is ranked high enough....I believe they will venture much higher than they are currntly ranked....As a matter of fact i believe they will atleast make it as far as they did this past year....They get them selves a few experienced lineman....a whole lot better special teams that knows how to fair catch a punt or kickoff, then yu have a panther team who may go all the way......but, ofcourse, only time will tell....i guess we will just have to wait to see what the panthers fate will be?
#23
oh i see......and i am in total agreement with you mania......as i know this 2005 team is going to have alot of talent
#24
I think Pikeville is definitely deserving of their top 10 ranking, but they do have an awful lot of question marks and holes to fill. Then again the Panthers have quite a bit of talent. How good the Panthers are next season will depend largely on how well everyone is able to accept their role. With all the young talent, some players may have to play positions that they may not want to. Pikeville's success next year will lie with how much and how fast their defense improves.
#25
They definately do have some holes to fill Farva.....I think They will pull it off though.
#26
I certainly hope so pm.
#27
im right there with you mania
#28
Everyone is leaving out the most experienced team in the mountains next year. Leslie Co. If i'm not mistaken, they only lost 1 or 2 SR's off last years squad, and most of these kids have been starters since they were sophmores. Some hard work in the off-season and these kids could win their region, if not more than that. I know i'm going out on a limb here, this post might come back and bite me, but after playing against them last year, these kids want to win, and they have alot of talent and experience.
#29
Everyones top 10 choices look good with one small change I would make; Southwestern is ranked below Rockcastle Co. on everyones poll. I would rank SWHS over Rockcastle due to the 48-0 drilling. SWHS is returning alot and will be a better team this year than last. Big Grin

Some "Underdogs" to look for would be SV, PC, and Law. Co.
