After such a disappointing season will Pike Central coach Tammy Tussey be back next year???
02-23-2005, 09:54 PM
IMO she should be back, shes done good with the program for the past 10 years. IMO I think this years team is just lazier than teams in the past.
02-23-2005, 10:07 PM
they will not fire her if she wants to come back to PC for another year the job will b their but if she wants to leave she will b gone. IMO if she leave i would love to c Phillip Birchfield take that job hes one heck of a coach and yes ive played under him. Tammy if she does leave i wouldnt b to suprised to c her end up at Johns Creek which realy wouldnt b bad for PC nor JC. I think she has widdled her way away from how she use to coach and has settled into more of a state to where she lets the girls play how ever they want to play which is not good. Tammy is a good coach just hasnt realy made it happen this year not totaly her fault but its a 50/50 blameing if u ask me. The team is last 15rf but a coach has to set examples off of them. As did Phillip Birchfield last night not starting Jr guard Brad Ratliff for missing a practice. So is she gone mayb but its on her own decision.
02-23-2005, 10:26 PM
well i think JC already has their coach they did win county this year...But as for Tussey unless her girls make a late season push and does good come tourney time I dont see her coming back
02-24-2005, 12:14 AM
ALMOST the same team was region champions last year! I would say after the altercation after school, even if Ratliff didn't miss a practice he wouldn't of started!
02-24-2005, 12:25 AM
yes but he didnt intend on getting in a altercation plus it was already decided he wasnt starting :-)
02-24-2005, 10:00 PM
Come on bamma, this is girls basketball. I'll post my last thoughts about the altercation, he should never done what he did in the first place! So it was his fault!!
02-24-2005, 10:02 PM
I dont see any reason she should be fired. i think she just needs to be more strict on her players
02-25-2005, 12:12 AM
Does she still have the cute chick helping her?
02-25-2005, 12:34 AM
She will be back is she wants..She is a great coach
02-25-2005, 12:51 AM
Tussey has done much more for pike central athletic program that most coaches at pike central so my opinion is she will be back. It could be possibly her fault that this season has went downhill but you can't base a coach upon what they have did in one season. Unless, they are just plain not a good coach at all. But, in this case, tussey will stay if she wants too. If she doesn't, it wont be because they fired her it will because she couldnt put up with the school and players anymore. She is a great coach.

Well u pretty much said what i did Mario that if she wanted to stay she would so... I think weve came to a conclusion
and i dont know how we got on the topic of Ratliff on here :-) how did that happen im confused oh well

Is it true the Pike Central girls don't practice very often and never run wind sprints?
02-26-2005, 05:19 PM
They had practice earlier this week. I think that Tussey has them practicing once or twice a week.
I remember when there was practice every day they didn't have a game. Even on Saturday and Sunday. However, Sunday practices were optional.

Practice once or twice a week won't git r done!
02-26-2005, 05:57 PM
Honestly, I just don't think Tussey cares about coaching anymore.
02-26-2005, 06:16 PM
Well, i think she is just given up on the girls. Not coaching.
02-26-2005, 07:14 PM
and thats bad coaching Mario u never give up on ur team right at this very second they should b in the GYM working out.
And yes SPX as of lately they havent practices much and yes pretty much all the do is do wind sprints.

Coach Tussey has done more than any other coach from what I see at Pike Central. She has took her team to state 2 times, regional runner up 3 or 4 times, look how many girls went on to play college balll. What other sports program has done more than the girls basketball team....none. If I were her I might would move on to bigger and better things. She only had 8 high school girls...look what they put her though this year. She should coach players that show more respect for others. That group didn't seem to appreicate anything that was done for them. I'm sure there are a lot of school's that would love to have her. It looked like ATTITUDE was not what they needed to be. Maybe they should do away with the program. If you have to keep players on the team just to have a team that need to be off the team. Move on to better players who appreicate a good thing when they have it.

Tussey is a great Coach, I have watched her for several years. I think that some of you are either Jealous of her sucsess or must be someone that dosent have what it takes to play on her team...She shows dicipline to those players and they should respect her for that...You can tell some of those girls have bad attitudes and could care less if they win or lose..Let them Fire her, Im sure there is plenty of other programs that would like to have her..
She must be doing something right at PCC, she always has tops players and her team is always in the mix of things...I mean they did happen to knock of the Ole mighty Magoffin the other night, But I guess all the credit goes to the players ...

The only way she will leave is on her own.. I'm doubting they will fire her.
03-16-2005, 07:35 PM
I think she has done good with the girls b-ball program

Disappointing season? They made it to the regional finals..what more could you ask for out of a young team?
03-17-2005, 12:16 AM
well if u hadnt noticed...the topic was made back in february when the hawks were looking a little rusty...at that point it was disappointing ...lucky for them, it got better

Uh yeah I noticed, but it was on the top of the list, so I figured it had resurfaced. Thanks for the heads up..geesh!

HATS OFF TO PIKE CENTRAL GIRLS, you played all year at or below 500 you were lazy, self centered, all the starting 5 cared about was me myself and i ,you finished the season below 500,buy playing not for the team but for yourself, you learned a little in the torn. you win when you put your team before yourself, and yes you need to work harder to get better you will be one of the top teams next year, but as far as records no one will remember what a great record you have (ask magg.) if you go no where in the tourn. so hats off to you, you pulled together before it was to late.and took a season full of dissapointment to the brink of a championship,i hope you have learned something. good luck next year tammy you did good with what you had to work with.
