34-20 SV win...SV dominated the 1st half and the opening minutes of the 3rd quarter, but Midland Trial made a game of it late as they turned some SV turnovers into quick points. Freshman QB Cody Varney, along with recievers Colby Newsome and Lucas Simpkins, added some video footage to the 2006 Highlight Tape. Justice, Kinney and Mitchell ran the ball hard tonight, while the OLine dominated MTHS's front 4 for most of the night. Congrats Coach Saunders and the Wildcats, and Good Luck next week against Coach Mac and the Hawks.

Yeah the offense did really well Friday night except for all of the fumbles...need more ball security!

My question about this game is why the National Anthem wasnt played. They had the JROTC color guard come out. 11 seconds of silence in memory of 9-11, then the color guard left the field. At halftime, the announcer was talking about Shelby Valleys band being in the top 10 for bands in the state. Why couldnt they play the anthem?
During the game, that player that Shelby Valley has that cought the two TD passes looked like a very good receiver. Him Diving into the end zone and catching the pass looked very impressive to me.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

I think the National anthem wasnt played friday cause the band wasnt ready at the begining of the game? not sure though. Lucas Simpkins is the one who caught them passes. He is a very good reciever. He kinda reminds me of a reciver valley had a few years back which was also number 27, Jard Branham. Id give Lucas the advantage of speed but Jared was the better blocker and maybe had a little bit better hands.
09-11-2006, 07:08 AM
ive never even heard of jard branham

Jarred Branham....he was a really good reciever, he played the same year that the running back Joe Wyatt did.

Congrats to Shelby Valley!!

Jared Branham could not touch Lucas as a Reciever, the only thing he might had been able to do better is block but Lucas seems to stalk block well also so he might not even be that.
Simpkins is without a doubt the top reciever in the district and one of the better ones in the mountains
