Corbin’s Ryder Akins transfers to GRC
#1
Ryder Akins leaves Corbin for GRC a couple weeks after Dawson Farmer leaves for LCA. GRC should be a top 5-10 team this year. Farmer should really help LCA. GRC should be region favorites in the 10th. Not sure where corbin goes from here. Look for Evan Ellis to have a monster year for the Redhounds.

Are you sure Ellis stays at Corbin with all the defections??

I think so but not 100% sure. He already had to sit out over half the year last year due to transferring. I would say he stays but who really knows at this point?

With all the defections does this add any substance to the rumors flying that TP is gonna coach the girls HS team this year?

He is coaching junior high girls right now. I think if he makes the move, it will be after Eli graduates and then next year his daughter will be a freshman and he may take over then. I’m not close to the program but I hear a lot like everyone else. It does make since that he would do that.

I’m hearing that E is seriously thinking about sitting out to work on football and the daughter will be playing HS this year probably starting on JV with her size

I could definitely see that scenario play out.

Let's see. No Farmer. No Akins. Ellis...who knows? Maybe no Eli? Maybe no Tony. How about Corbin not even field a team this season? Went from one of the region favorites to redbird in a matter of a few weeks. I hate this new landscape of HS & college sports. Shitter's as full as ii has ever been.

That's a lot of hits, but Corbin's bench most years would be in the middle of the pack of the region.

OSH I open this app looking for a basketball response from you lol. They make my day--I need em like a dead man needs a box. Keep in mind that the 3 you mentioned were poached from other schools already so their loyalties were along the lines of Benedict Arnold from way back. That being said Ellis will graduate a redhound, they aren't welcome back in Whitley(at least from what they say at patio at The Mint lol) and pretty sure that they aren't capable of moving any distance-but he was definately the lesser of the 3 players mentioned in my opinion. No one is touching Bell or North this season in the 13th.  I am hearing legit conversations that Eli is seriously considering football only as he gets ready for college. And I 100% think Tony will be the girls coach sooner than later, most of the root beer stand mafia are done with Isaac and his flirtations with the Pulaski schools--this will be his last year as Coach of the lady hounds--if he makes it thru the season(its gonna be a long one other than the 13th girls wise is the weakest its been in quite a while outside of the Laurels). Glad to see you back on the basketball threads.

The million dollar question is if Tony does switch sides what names are in the mix to coach the Hounds. Rumor has it Old School has former Western University Dolphins legend Pete Bell on speed dial to take over the program. Seriously though. What names would Corbin seek out to fill Tony's spot?

If Johnny Crawford is anywhere near a Redhound bench when Pietrowski leaves, I'm quitting my Redhound basketball fandem. He was a cancer back when he played and would only listen to his daddy, who sat right behind the Corbin bench. Please make that toxix ass disappear into the cornfield. I would poach Jefferson Davis from South and make him a very happy($$) man.

I was told by a coach that years ago Billy Hicks told him that he averaged 27 wins a year during his tenure at Corbin. Hicks said no matter his success he would always be behind fball and baseball. Thats why he took the scott co job. Corbin is a football school. It makes no difference to most people including tony if they lose farmer and akins. Business as usual i assume. Doesn’t affect anything surrounding the basketball team approach. If you have Lynn Camp in the once lauded Cumberland Falls Classic then you officially have given up on basketball. By the way barbourville plays in it this year. No offense to the tigers who i love but their not exactly warren central or dorman south carolina.

Can’t nobody coach basketball but Tony? Who cares if he goes to the girls?

I don't think you can get JD.....but his assistant Hamlin is a Corbin boy plus he is strong offensively. I think he would definately come. But unfortunately I don't think you could get a "name" to make the jump. Corbin is and always has been a football first school, basketball is a seasonal filler sport down there, jmo. But Davis system with defense with the Corbin Fball players on the hardwood would be a monster.

Can you imagine if Elam had transferred or if big Malachi transfers? The town of Corbin would melt down.  Basketball can lose 4 starters and it would be barely noticed. Corbin lives for football.  Basketball is just a diversion to pass the time until spring football practice starts up.

So true! Very well said OSH!

Off subject but feel it is appropriate on this thread but was told yesterday Ellis may be headed to Barbourville City any truth to that? If he leaves no way Eli plays right?

I’ll never say never but there is a better chance of OSH taking Tom Greer out for a night on the town than Ellis risking losing another season to transfer, especially with all due respect to Bville. Plus there are other reasons that he can’t move again

He’s probably just trying to give his kid an opportunity to play in a better situation. Daddys have been doing this throughout history. The kid does have talent. I can’t say i blame him. Whether or not its what other people would do in a similar situation does not matter even a little.

Good move for him
Hard to be seen and good at school
As powerful as Corbin in football
Not throwing shade they are amazing

But if basketball is the move
Hard to no go to GRC

No way Ellis leaves and goes to Barbourville. If that was going to happen he would’ve went there instead of Corbin in first place bc Chris and his dad are close. He’ll stay at corbin.
